Sue does the absolute best repair videos on CZcams, HANDS DOWN. Love the way you explain things. Thorough yet simple and concise. Thank you so much for these videos!
Good job but u forgot to apply a jack under control arm before twerking bolts to factory specs very important for proper seating of rubber bushings on controlled arm
Thanks for checking us out! +joe sno
Thanks clear & concise easy to take notes and specs. Others added importance of tightening LCA bushings nuts, after weight of vehicle on them or bushing may fail early.
+John Springer Thank you!
I have a 2004 honda Element and your instructions are excellent 💥🌟💥🌟
Love these videos. Sue does a great job.

What do you do when the captive nut on the frame breaks loose? How can you tighten that last bolt on the control arm?
great repair tips the best😀
Did anyone notice the spider at 3:00 lol
Good eye 👀 lol
Nice. Thanls
Amazing video, very helpful and you're also very good at what you do :)
+0verload Thank you for your positive feedback!
What about the Ball joint? All of a sudden the new one was installed? Does this need to be pressed it? Or is it bolted??
1:20 That is some mindful wrenching technique.
darn wife took the accord. wanted to do this but now gotta wait lol. good job
+Omar Chisolm Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com
Any cotter pin that I have ever installed went into the castle to prevent rotation. Something ain't right there.
I'm not a mechanic but I saw that and immediately questioned what was going on.
Good catch. Compare it to how it looked at removal time. She mentions that the ball joint was going to be replaced, but that at step is not shown. The shaft on the new ball joint bolt must be longer. Wonder if it is one this company sells, because I'd bet it is not OEM.
2:09 - interesting. a 17MM nut came off, and a different used 18MM nut went on 6:07 (not new as stated, look at it). and like a script, she mentioned to make sure the cotter pin would line up with the nut...but it extended well past all notches thru the nut.
exactly right...that cotter pin is doing nothing to prevent the nut from backing off at least 3 turns. safety feature, but it does seem weird that a new ball joint didn't use the original, or even it's own new nut.
It isn't right and in fact, the castle nut could cut through the pin if by chance it rotated over time. Torque spec is a guide with cotter pins either requiring less or more torque to set a pin properly.
Is it ok that the castle nut surpassed the carte r pin hole so much like that on the install ? I ran into that issue when I done my crv . Left me scratching my head ??
Helpful and confidence inspiring video thanks. I just did this job on my 02 uk crv but the driveshaft came out at the inner cv joint. If that happens it gets difficult when you are working alone. I got there in the end though and that clunk sound has gone!
Just did 1 last night amd the same thing happened to me, took an extra 2hrs to get it back in but it went!!!
A +
does anyone know the brand of wrench they used on the endlinks? said it was a 14mm but looked like a SAE. would like a set of those wrenches though for calipers sometimes.
Hi 1A Auto & Sue, would the 2005 CR-V has the same torque specs?
Should those two 19mm bolts (5:33) be torqued to 61ft lbs with wheels come in contact with the ground?
is this the same application for a 2003 crv.
Thanks Sue. If I'm doing the strut, lower control arm, and the ball joint: what order should I do them in, please?
all at the same time.. you have to take the strut off at the bottom anyway for all this and if you look at the honda at the end she actually did the struts with this job. its a very easy task except doing both will have the alignment shift a bit. go get a 100 dollar alignment and your tires will last longer...
What a beautiful job! Where is this woman!!! I need here here in SoCal! About how much such a job like this cost at a shop? I am on a seriously tight budget. Contemplating having a mobile mechanic do the job instead. Your thoughts?
my pickle fork is apperently too thin.. it was wide enough to preserve the boot. the joints are only 2 yrs old and I did the job on jack stands last time. seems these young joints have no desire to separate and the CV boots are gone, along with the compliance bushings.. Unfortunately you made it look so easy Sue
Knocked a spider out of that thing😂
This steps is same for honda crv 2004 ?
Can replace bushings without whole new arm?
I've got the new control arm attached but I can't push the wheel far enough inboard to put the ball joint back into the control arm. What's going on!? Any advice?
good vid, love the accent. is that Jersey or Boston?
Westford, MA
Good video but, if someone has the savvy to change out a control arm, they probably do not need to be taught how to remove a wheel.
Do the new ball joints need to be pressed in? I didn’t see how they were reinstalled.
I was just going to post the same question? Did u ever figure this out?
Do you guys sell skid plates for the Honda Element?
+Geezee 5six2 This is not something we carry for this vehicle.
Cost me hundreds at dealer to replace compliance bushing (that's the bushing toward the front), meanwhile the other bushing is still old. Probably better to instead replace entire control arm since you get two new bushings.
+Matt Foley Thanks for the feedback!
Oh oh it's Easter than I was thinking. Thank you sue you are the best another job done on my Honda Element thanks to you.
How much cost the lower arm
Spider at 2:57
Anybody want to buy a TSX engine swapped Honda Element?
She didn't check the length of the control arm out to where the ball joint mounts. It can be a problematic when ordering if you click below where it shows you a cheaper option, like I did, not noticing it was for a Civic. It fits fine until you try to put the ball joint in the hole then you realize it's about a half inch too short. 😕 Also, the super cheap parts that you can find that have half a dozen positive reviews may fit fine but I found they've got a one to two year life expectancy on the rubber components.
+John Carpenter Thanks for the tip! We'll pass this info along to our production team.
dont try to save a ball joint kids.... especially not a honda ball joint
+Truthful Lives Matter Thanks for the feedback!
WARNING. My ball joint would not seperate. Hit it with the pickle fork, then a ball joint seperator. Decided to saw it off, but in order to replace the ball joint you need to knock out the axle shaft from the hub which for me was impossible. In the video the lady hits it with a hammer and it pops right out. In real life that's not how it worked. Anywho, just be wary that this stuff is not as easy as it seems. Sucks. My El has become a piece of junk for the time being.
jeez! that sucks
