I recently acquired a new boat with an 87’ Evinrude 40 horse that’s in decent shape but needs some work-these videos on this 40 horse have helped me immensely. Thank you very much-you’ve earned a subscriber here.
Another excellent video
Thanks for the video. Any idea where to find T connectors for the 1/16" fuel line for a 3-carb setup?
the fuel primer port is a PERFECT spot to plumb nitrous lines!
Thats hilarious.
Hey bud thanks for posting these videos they've helped me tremendously throughout my restoration of a similar motor. I was hoping you could tell me the part number of the actual tiller arm control assembly for a 1991 40 horse 2 cylinder Johnson?I was curios of what year ranges are compatible along with horse power ranges up and down also ? Thank you in advance for any help, and thanks again for sharing these detailed step for step videos!
You don't use the special fuel line zip ties? I did this to mine when I got it and those zip ties are pricey for what they are. I got about a life time supply now.
Does it matter witch line goes to the top or bottom carburetor off of primer
I noticed the power line was not hooked up to your primer solenoid. It's a line with a 3/4 open loop washer connector.
My 1989 E40ELCEC is only getting fuel through the primer solenoid as it starts and run for a few seconds when I activate the primer by pushing the key or turning the red flag. It then dies. Is this a float issue? Planning on checking carb bowls first to see if they are full.
My Johnson 50hp has same primer with two small fuel lines going to the top and bottom carb. Was running terrible until I unplugged the bottom line going tot he carb from the carb end, then it started running beautifully, any thoughts? Got that right, I never plugged it back in haha pinched it to stop leak. Note: when I unplug both the bottom one was spraying way more gas, so now the top one is left plugged into the top carb and bottom one is unplug and pinched closed lol running smooth but I never wrapped my head around it haha.
valve is probably leaking, causing fuel or air to enter that carb.
What size are those fuel lines Brandon?
does the bottom carb fuel line connect to the bottom of the top?
I have a 92 Johnson 40hp TJ40ELENJ .Do you know if these engines have ports for a carburetor vaccum balance synchronizing tool?
they do not
I have a 91 johnson 40hp. Ive rebuilt the entire fuel system, linked and sync done, timing verified correct. Its still hard to start and dies the second it goes into gear. Im lost. Any hints or helpful suggestions?
Low speed idle adjustment screw?
Too low of idle?
What's the red switch on the primer for?
the red switch puts the solenoid in manual or electric. if it is in the electric mode the solenoid will squirt fuel into the carb when you push in the key. if the battery dies or you eliminate the electric prime system you can turn the red handle so it is pointing in line with the solenoid and it will prime when you squeeze the primer bulb. i had mine 90 degrees to the solenoid and it was always flooding. i put it in line and it purrs now.
Should I be using a fuel line zip ties
Yes
....but do you have to...???
So those are pretty much the 25 hp carbs huh just has two instead right?
I have a 93 40 HP, and a 93 20 HP that I cant get to at the moment.
Ill compare the two and report back.
Brandon's Garage awesome btw thanks hey bud keep the vids coming they help alot ✊
My man Brandon uses whatever is laying around if he don't have zip ties he will use Kite String or Dental Floss 🤣
Bro, that's kinda my thing.
Sometimes Ill say something like "Okay, get a hammer and just tap the punch"
*hits the top of a screwdriver with a ratchet*
Haha I love doing it, nobody ever catches it though.
@@BrandonsGarage Love your Videos Keep up the great work
The guy who invented carb studs is probably still laughing.
