    Hi Brandon, Whats the chance of you doing a video on the johnson 3 wire stator and the 4 wire regulator, the same as you have fitted to your 40hp, show us how to bench test each item and test while the motor is running. I have searched the web and youtube but cannot find any information on the test procedure of those particular items, there is a video on a johnson 4 wire stator and some info for other brands. I'm sure there would be many people out there besides myself that would appreciate your imput and explanation.
    Cheers Peter.

      Part 4 of Evinrude 40 is much appreciated. I have a VRO casualty ‘94 50hp Evinrude and bought a ‘95 like new powerhead. The powerhead swap was easy but I was not aware that OMC changed the engine wire harness in ‘95. Your video helped me to reinstalling the ‘94 big red plug harness.Thanks Subscribed

      I have an 87 that I bought used, wire harness is a mess, I have like 3 wires going nowhere. Do you know where the temp sensor hooks up, and where the coil positives go?

    Hello, I have a question, I am from Poland, I have an evinrude 30hp from 85r I put on a stator and voltage regulator and the battery charging is when the battery is charged on the meter shows 12.5v charging and when discharged it is 13.5v and then it drops to 12.5v, thank you in advance for your answer

    I just got one of these, but it's VRO model. When I push the start button, the choke clicks, but the starter/solenoid does nothing. I can jump the starter, and the motor runs fine. I just changed to starter solenoid and that didn't fix it. So, is my problem in the start switch/button? I assumed the switch was working because the choke responds (clear click from there). Starter solenoid makes no noise, but definitely has power because I can jump start it from there too. So am I hunting a bad connection in the start switch or a fuse somewhere? Thanks by the way - your videos have helped me with a number of motors.

    I gotta ask, where does the temp sensor hook up? And the coils positives.

    Hi I have a 1990 Johnson 55 commercial tiller and want to convert it to remote. I noticed your motor has a tiller tube that is capable of getting a steering shaft through it. Mine has a 1/2 inch pin that goes through it almost like a very long bolt also from your other videos your motor has place for the shifter and throttle cable to be secured in a anchor block mine does not. ???

    Will these engines Run just fine without a functioning charging system? Meaning after its started as long as you dont shut it off will it continue to run? I have one that i dont believe is charging, previous owner said he never has to charge the battery. But my quick running voltage test i had 12.6 volts at idle with a charger connected (6amp cheap small charger).

    Hello, lm hopeful you can help me, l have a 1991 johnson 40hp hand tiller, l have converted it to forward controls with the same control unit you showed on line, l've added electric start, converted my gas assist ram to hydraulic ram, my motor already has a regulator and stator fitted but does not charge, my stator has 3 wires, yellow with blue stripe, and 2 yellows with no stripes, just plain yellow, although they are both brown wires with a yellow rubber type of coating on them, the yellow coating has broken down and is peeling off, l cant find anything on the web describing which way they should be connected, or if it even matters which way, lm wondering could they be connected wrong, if l swap them over can l bugger something else? Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers Peter.

      There should be a yellow with gray stripe too. Its hard to tell but should be there.
      All 3 wires from the regulator and stator need to be connected together properly.
      Yellow/blue, Yellow/gray, and Yellow, all connect to the corresponding wire.

    • @hoareplussy
      @hoareplussy Před 5 lety

      I will check again but lm pretty sure mine have no stripes, l will remove the shrinkwrap and look further up the wires.
      Cheers.

      @hoareplussy Před 5 lety +1

      Yes you are right, l stripped the shrink wrap all off and found some undamaged coating and found the yellow with grey, all is good and reconnected, still not charging, have to work out how to test things now, Cheers.

      A lot less involved, and a lot less to worry about, more reliability and simplicity.
      I agree with them; but they have a purpose, and this engine will have another.
