- Fractures in the distal femur are pretty common. They will need some operation. Femur is the thigh bone (as shown). Any fracture in the distal femur has to be taken care of because that will alter the alignment if not treated properly and can cause long term problems for the patient. How long it will take to treat? It will need a surgical treatment. We generally put a plate and some screws in the area and stabilise the fracture. Fracture healing may take a minimum of 8 weeks and sometimes go up to 4 months. During this period partially the knee or limb will be functional. U may be able to bend or straighten your knee according to the type of fracture. Sometimes you may have to be kept completely immobilized because of the type of fracture you have. By the end of 3 to 4 months your fracture will have completely healed and you will be able to walk. Depending on the type of fracture and severity further recovery like getting a full movement in the knee joint or doing all the activities you were doing before it may take up to 5 to 6 months.

Going through this now! I have a plate and screws in the distal femur section. The bend in my knee is right around 90 degrees now. I can walk but very slow and after lying down for 3 months ill take it! Getting better everyday

Are you walking with support or without support???
@@MuhammadHamza-si6gg I'm walking without support. At first I used a walker for about 2 weeks but nothing now. Give it time and you will surely get there.

Yes I had a fracture on my knee on 28th May 2020 had surgery and 11 screws and a plate were inserted....by November I was able to walk without crutches. By January was able to go back to work but with limping. Now am able to travel long distances but I never miss my daily personal exercises as I await removal of the hardware after 2yrs. Bravo to Doctor Stanley Aruyaru of St.Theresa's Kiirua Mission hospital in Kenya Meru County and Physiotherapist Gitonga of Nyambene hospital.

I had a upper shaft femur fracture 5 months ago...in my recent x ray no callus formation there and I am limping while walking... something it's unbearable pain at fracture site...what to do for recovery plz suggest...
My son is suffering with 3 three fractures, until now he s not able to walk but trying to stand with help of walker, he got very severe accident with 3 fractures and heavy wound,

50th day after my femur surgery #TitaniumRod (My daily intake Calcium, Vitamin D3, Terifrac) I can walk without walker but yes totally uncomfortable. My problem is cant bend the knee. Suggestions please.. would be helpful ✌️
Same mine was two years ago give it day's and try the bending exercise and trust me you will get better I walk normal after three month but there was uncomfortable for sometimes my suggestion after six month you will gonna be fine like before

Personal exercises alongside the physiotherapist are very important they help and boost the Range Of Motion.I am 40years old and It is now 22 months with 11 screws am able to walk without limping, I can jog, do total squatt,stand on the injured leg for 1 minute or so.In about Months time I go for hardware removal. We Treasure and always pray for for our Doctors.....Much Blessings
Do the physiotherapy for knee bending must or else you might end up having another surgery of kneed arthroplasty which will restore the movement of your joint but its better to do it by exercises first ...you still have this chance to do knee bending exercises by following google youtube or go to physiotherapist doctor

If there is compound femur fracture at 70yo, how long it takes to heal. Also, my mom got Urosepsis and treated, but still fever of 100 is there at night. Now she got another urine culture positive. There is no evidence of symptom at surgical site. Why she is getting second infection even she got treated with antibiotics and she has unexplained fever. After 6 weeks of surgery.

Hi, I had femur surgery too and internal fixation done by plate and screw in 1 and half month ago I can't bend my knee too so I have a question on you.plz answer me is you knee bend properly now.

Generally 6 to ten weeks for bones to heal... muscle takes longer. How does it feel now?

I got hit by a truck 4 years ago on a bike. Broke my femur bone on the left. Had to be taken an ambulance. It hurt so much. The worst was in the X-ray two guys one at my feet in one at my shoulders. And they go together to throw me up 4 inches onto the X-ray. I never screamed like that my life it really hurt. I was so glad when I woke up after the surgery and everything was done. I was afraid I would die
Yeah I was hit by a truck as well and broke my left femur about 5 months ago, the pain was excruciating cos I was laying on the road and they had to lift me onto the stretcher, never felt a pain worse
I thought I was gonna die as well laying on the road like that it was scary man
Bless your heart. I broke my femur. I was taken to a hospital was about an hour away., I screamed at the top of of my voice the whole time.I screamed the lords prayer all the way. They did not operate on me until noon the next day. I am still using a walker sometimes a cane. I go to P.T. 2 times a week. But I am sufferinf from pain all the way around my upper thigh. Does anyone know anything about this. Please share.

The only problem and I'm not complaining please but now one my left leg is pretty messed up I have to go around with a walker. It's funny when I think 4 years ago I was flying down the street on my bicycle going everywhere then four years later I'm scared to walk from the garage to the house could fall.

Greetings from Kolkata, Dr Gowda! I am interested to know the thigh bone fracture (femur bone fracture as the doctor who treated me called it). I am suffering from it and doctor told me that I will never be able to climb up and down the stairs as I live on the 2nd floor of an apartment with steep stairs which is as good as 4th floor). If I cannot move from my house it would be a hell for me as I am an academic and occasionally to visit my alma mater, Calcutta University and consult the library for academic purposes. I am expecting a sharp reply from your end, hope I will get some words which will give me a new lease of life.

Don't worry bro I had a surgery now after 6 months I can walk and climb up and down the stairs just be careful don't stress to much and strengthen ur muscles as much as possible

Going thru this right now except I have the rod in my femur bone I started rehabilitation like that next week from surgery putting weight baring on my right leg walking with a walker It hurt like hell that first week, the second week my speed increased a little but im unable to walk without the walker due to the pain, i have to wait to proper heal with no pain accuring, im takin that oxy pills whenever my leg starts having its episode. What's the recovering time I miss my job my injury was on September 26, 2021 had surgery that next day. Oh and also im only able to been my need only half way it want go in full all way guess because its swollen inside maybe or scar tissue 🤔 rehab is helping bending my knees to help with the mobility

@@ronduce6493 what’s up man I have a rod and screws,my break was on the 17th of may by now the 4th of July I have good mobility in my knee but when I walk I still have some pain on my leg and I can only walk with one crutch,when I try walk with none I have a limp,when would you say I will be good to go ?
