- One of my favorite TV shows when I was a kid in the 1960's was "Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea" (1964-1968). Yeah, "Star Trek" and "The Twilight Zone" were better as far as serious Science Fiction goes. But "Voyage" was a blast to watch. It had action, adventure, cool sets, award winning special effects, Richard Basehart and The Fabulous Seaview. When the Seaview would encounter mad scientists, aliens or monsters, it would get knocked around and the sparks would fly. Hence the title of this video "The Seaview Rock'n'Roll," which is a term I first heard in a DVD interview with David Hedison.
On the 50th anniversary of this TV show, I dedicate this video to the actors, production crew and the show's creator, Irwin Allen.

I own nothing that you are about to see or hear except my love for this show. Buy it from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. - Zábava
Seaview Rock' n ' Roll Animal.
Love watching
Seaview breach the water's surface. So graceful and awe inspiring.😊😊😊 1:37
It's from the movie with Walter Pigeon (which was better than the series), as was the sinking icebergs...
Irwin Allen was famous for his "rock-n-roll" scenes in his series...
When I was a kid, I couldn't wait for those scenes. It was such a large submarine, I use to find the floor in the missile room very smooth and shinny.
Voyage rocked!
Bravo on this production! You really captured it.
The real star of the show was the Seaview!
Imagine reporting for work on Voyage. Everyday you have to go through this. And you think your job is tough.
With VOYAGE Irwin Allen perfected the illusion of movement. The camera is tilted in the opposite direction as the actors toss themselves around the set. Even stationery objects are manipulated to go with the action (cabinets and chairs are made to fall in the same direction that the actors are throwing themselves...very clever illusion). Irwin took the idea one step further in "The Poseidon Adventure".
He used that technique in all of his TV shows. He even managed to squeeze those shots into The Time Tunnel and Land of the Giants. He loved two dimensional action and adventure. Flash and fun. He was a great entertainer.
but the pencils never moved on the table
I had a Friend on" Land of the Giants" ( R.I.P. DON) Who explained the Rock and Roll to me ( they used it too) He said that Irwin would grab a fire bucket and a hammer and whack it once for left and the actors would throw themselves to the left and the camera panned right. and whack if twice for right... He said that he was pretty bruised and dizzy by the end of the shooting day. and they had to do their own stunts mostly..the women too.
Mmmhhh... I think you're mixing up some stories here. The bucket thing was used in The Time Tunnel pilot. Allen only directed two episodes of Voyage (and of course, the movie).
I don't know who that Don friend you're talking about, but if you want to find more, the interviews on the dvds and the book bt Jeff Bond tells a lot.
Nicely edited!
Thanks!
Fantastic editing job on this!
The best
Really enjoyed this "blast from the past!"
That's all I seen towards the end of the series, rocking and rolling, thanks for sharing.
That submarine must of been built of titanium the amount of abuse it got every week!
Yes, the "ingredient" mentioned often in the show [note "Terrible Toys"].
Just Amazing.
nice job with the clips and music and sound effects-Voyage is still my all time favorite-probably because I saw it on abc in original run!
Me, too.
Love this..:)
wow that was cool!!!

?????
Can someone translate?
the weird creatures and ghosts ruined the show just like they did "Lost in Space"
Yes, towards the end it was like, 'OCTOPUS OF THE WEEK' - but all told it was a terrific show!
Irwin Allen was a notorious cheapskate, reusing sets, costumes, and monsters across all his shows...
