Another way to work a possible hit song into a production is to have it play over the opening credits, ostensibly representing the film's themes, but more often devoted to soppy romantic allusions. Irwin Allen's half-baked but entertaining adventure flick boasts a dreamy title melody about finding love and being "lost and free", sentiments that are only meagerly represented at best. No element of the plot stands up to close scrutiny... still, gotta dig a streamlined submersible with a plate-glass nose and '50s-style tailfins!
