The music aside, my favorite scene from this season of "Police Woman"'s opening theme is when Earl Holliman ran, jumped, dove, hit, & rolled on the ground while holding his pistol with both hands. Hitting the grass next to that small tree. One could also see the 67' Ford Mustang in the background that Angie Dickinson was driving in that episode when Holliman performed that action scene. Still watch this particular opening theme quite frequently. When, as a youngster in the 70's, I would go outside & emulate the run, jump, dive, hit, & roll just like Earl Holliman did. God it was fun! I practiced the maneuver multiple times. The only thing missing was having a 67' Ford Mustang nearby. Have only seen the episode once. Sure would like to see it again!

That Policy Story series did so much to cement my support of The Cop on the beat, dressed in uniform blue while on duty in a marked patrol cruiser. I hate that those cops who beat Rodney King got away with it and that the jury bought their story...they even used the "n-word" while beating him. It soils the uniform of the good cop.

I was going on six years old when the first run of PW ended; I think I was a bit scared of this theme, for reasons I don't even remember. It's definitely a classic. I loves me some funky bass!

This theme is interesting, in that yes it has a 70s vibe but also a hint of the 60s TV themes that preceded it.

Angie Dickinson was a class act. Lucky Burt Bacharach!!! No wonder he composed so many inspired pieces! The show was a bit tired though .... always was the line "What kind of a (fill in the blank ... waitress, hooker, etc) carries a gun?"

There was a disco version of this tune which (was a huge hit in 1976) recorded by Tony Camillo's Bazuka.
