3 pilots race to Park Hall airfield - Sunset adventure - Flexwing

- Sometimes you just have to make the most of the sunshine and this was a late day flight after I had returned from the camping trip to Stoke Golding.
Paul and myself were joined by Ian Goddard a recently qualified Sub70 flexwing pilot, on a short hop to Park Hall airfield.
I've been to Park Hall a while back but it was definitely colder and wetter than this time.
It was wonderful to be flying with friends.

I was 80kg before I started flying to other airfields!!

I weighed 80kg on the outbound leg and about 85kg full of cake on the inbound leg😉

Nice! My first landaway was to Kolb field which is 5 miles away. The runway is narrow with trees on either side and quite a slope. Last evening's flight brought me back there with a wingman and we got to tour the old barn with all the original Kolb prototypes hanging from the ceiling. Proper ultralight history.

So, I damage my trike last fall doing hops. Got pull up with a strong crosswind and started to correct and let off on power too much and came down hard. No damage to wing frame😍
Bent the front wheel
Bent left rear axle - I just rotated it and good.
Bent upper portion of mast and folding attachment plates.
Propeller, Muffler and bent many of attachment points on the engine. Old Simonini engine, I had a new one on the side waiting.
Bent engine support frame.
Suffice it to say a good portion of the trike to rebuild.
This spring I meant to get it repaired and flying but got tied up finishing a dump trailer project to sell and get out of my garage. That took longer than I had hoped. Got some work done on the trike but much to go yet and put it on hold again to do an deck upgrade I promised my wife. Still working on that.
So this coming spring I will finish up the trike rebuild and complete my certification - my medical and student permits are good till 2025. I am hoping 2024 will be the year of flying.
My current set up is a Trikebuggy, Northwing Solairus 17m wing and an HE Raptor engine 247 CC (72x60,5)
HP: 34; RPM: 7500. The TrikeBuggy was modified for Delta and PPG. The Engine frame mount is what I am getting rid of. I see all new trikes mounting off the lower part of the mast so I beefed that up for my new Raptor Engine.
After a couple years of flying this I will save up for a new trike. There are getting to be so many to choose from but I want a unit that will be a true Mid Day flyer.

Hi Barry, this was only a quick one as it was only 16 miles away. I don't normally put too much of the journey in as people found it quite boring. I'll have to put a longer transit section in just for you👍😁.
