    I'm an Alliance player myself, but I have to admit that Vol'jin is (alongside Khadgar and a couple others) one of the best and most noble characters in the game. It was very sad to see him go when playing on my Horde alt.
    The thought of Tyrathan helping us defeat the Legion and Gul'dan, even if it takes his life in the process, seems very compelling. I hope to see him in the upcoming raids!

      Thats what I was thinking when I heard the announcement

    • @SoupnOlive
      @SoupnOlive Před 7 lety +20

      Leaving him dead makes less sense than bringing him back at this point. Vol'jin's pretty much the only troll character who's gotten any development in the past 12 years of WoW, and with him gone, not only are the Darkspear left without any significant characters, they also (currently) don't have a racial leader.
      That coupled with the fact that his death was unceremonious and completely undeserving of the character. The fact that the cinematic and his funeral were more about Sylvanas than about him also speaks volume's about this. Plus the fact that his relationship with the Loa of DEATH, Bwonsamdi wasn't explored at all.
      Killing him off for good leaves a lot more plotholes and inconsistencies than the other way around. Out of a handful of other character deaths, Vol'jin's at the moment is the most plausible in returning.

    • @SoupnOlive
      @SoupnOlive Před 7 lety +8

      If there are more trolls we would have seen them being developed during 5.3, which was a patch dedicated to the Darkspear Rebellion. In that patch, the only troll Blizzard bothered to give the spotlight to was Vol'jin.
      Every other Darkspear is insignificant and miles behind Vol'jin in terms of lore, and development. The only two who sort of "stand out" are Rokhan, who is criminally underused in WoW (Cameo in WotLK, generic questgiver in WoD, very brief one quest cameo in Legion), and Zen'tabra, who's essentially the troll version of Hamuul, and the main Darkspear troll class trainer. She's more neutral with the CC than she is Darkspear. It's also worth noting that neither of these two showed up at Vol'jin's funeral.
      Both characters, and every other Darkspear don't hold a candle to the amount of development Vol'jin had gotten. If Blizzard wanted to develop more trolls, they would have throughout the span of 12 years.
      He never died a first time though, we was just gravely wounded, and he recovered with the help of Chen, and the Shado-Pan. Post Broken Shore would have been his first death, but that shouldn't hinder the character's development, especially since he was given such an unceremonious "ending".

    • @Piximae
      @Piximae Před 7 lety +10

      I may have some bias given I've played predominately Horde for 8 years, but I've always tried to keep up with the lore on both sides (Although I'm better familiar with Horde for obvious reasons). I will say, that after all this time, I'm truely shocked that Blizz hasn't given the Horde a little more love in the form of organization.
      For example, now that Vol'jin's gone, the Trolls have no racial leader, the orcs are still leaderless, and the Goblins are...pretty much the same (And Thrall even said Gallywix would only be leader 'for now'...right). Now that Sylvanas is leader of the Horde, I'm expecting more or less the same: She dies, then the Forsaken have no one then it'll be the Tauren's turn. During all this time I'm amazed Varok Saurfang didn't take up the lead for the Orcs or that Blizz didn't at least try to focus on developing another Troll lorewise.
      With the fabulous fanfare (Or lack thereof) Vol'jin got in WoD, his sudden death at the beginning of Legion, and Sylvanas suddenly getting the mantel after having so many issues herself with accepting her fate, him coming back makes some sense logically, but none from a real lore point of view.
      I mean, as maining a Forsaken Rogue for the majority of my WoW experience, I'm still mildly annoyed that she's suddenly leader. She barely gave a flying pig's loin about her people (us, the Forsaken) literally using us for her own revenge, she commits suicide for the sole reason that she didn't get to land the final blow to the Lich King, AND she's STILL trying to find ways to avoid her fate.
      Compare that to Vol'jin who LED THE REVOLUTION against Garrosh while she's bickering with Lor'themar about raising elves...and Vol'jin dies a very undramatic death while Varian dies a king's death...
      Sorry for the rant, but everything is screaming wtf is Blizz thinking? From logic to lore, it makes no sense to kill off a leader who was basically what to Horde Stands for just to give to mantle to a woman who gives a sh*t about everything but herself. Either they're really going to expand on Sylvanas's previous personality (Before her death) or they got some severe explaining to do.

    Loved the shadows of the horse novel, I was really happy to see him in the order hall. I was listening to the audio book at work and the part with the vision and the bond between the female Hunter seemed so casual but the guilt he felt made it seem so much more love was there.

      Sure she is bad. But I don't think she will be Warchief for long, more like she is just a mean for a bigger goal. Or, she will acknowledge the rest of the Horde as her people and she will care for it like she did all she could to profit her forsaken.
      But Vol'jin due to bargain with Loa of Death should be protected by Loa from such things, for the price of the souls he slays for them.
