- Howdy fellow adventurers, Wavey and I carry on despite snowing in May! Next year I won't even come home until May. In this episode, We get a bed built in the barge. We do a little Nimble Vagabond river exploring in a snow storm, and head up the Keweenaw peninsula for some Superiorland beauty.

Perfect
Great looking bed 👏👏👏👍🏻
Thanks man. It's comfortable too ;)
I like it talking the wife into a houseboat love that dog.
With a wife or GF (not both though! Lol) takes a bigger more comfortable one I've learned. They make them. 30 feet on up and barely trailerable.
Little bit of everything, good job.
Thank you Karen ;) will be more focused here soon
💖
I had a TW200 with that same rack set up. I purchased it used for a trip I did with my friends. We did the TAT (Trans American Trail ) from Oklahoma to Port Orford and then took the freeway the whole way back. That was a 6000 mile trip over the Rockies and through deserts etc. good trip. Blew up the bike and had to have it repaired on the way home. Lots of good stories from that trip.
Bed turned out well! I see you got that TW200. Enjoy!
TW videos definitely on the list for summer Don ;) I didn't realize just how many fans of them are out there.
looks great!
Thank you sir! ;) coming along. Too slow but we'll get there
awesome ! looks good ! let us know if you need a blanket .....
May snow-rain is so brutal.
It sure is. Why do we come home so early?
Have not seen you in awhile enjoy the video as always have fun be safe I did like the bed set up
Thanks for checking in. Going into a fun season here in the Northland....please check in often
Just getting ready for work and I get this notification. Oh well, I guess Ill be late today.
Welcome! I'm glad someone likes these little videos. Doing my part to keep YT from completely turning into TV! Lol
i find the front of boat is usually up hill a bit when in water for sleeping. put some storage under bed. a futon mattress will fold to make a couch or bed.look at all that wavey energy. lol
I've found that too. I gave some plans for that if it ends up being an issue. I don't like sleeping downhill either.
Just a beautiful area... The bed looks great, it coming along bro.
Thanks man. It's going to be really comfortable when it's done. :)
The only activity missing was a scooter ride and a lighthouse visit, maybe you can autopilot the Beagle barge from bed now!
We sort of visited a lighthouse from a distance ;) Eagle Harbor. Scooter adventure coming up. Did you see that TW200 ready to go?
I love that TW 200! I accidentally found Horseshoe Harbor in Copper Harbor. It is one of my favorite places in the Keweenaw. We were looking for the starting point of Hwy 41. That same Hwy runs through my hometown Manchester, Tennessee. I think it ends in Miami.
Oh yeah...that's way up there beyond the end of the road. If you really want to fall off thr map, I'll take your guys to Manitou island ;)
Sure is beautiful there. Reminds me a little of Maine.😊
It is looking Maine. The Northwoods;) I'm going to Maine this fall to see all the lighthouses
We're in Oriental, NC now ;)
@@backwatersandbackroads oh very cool! I know exactly where you are. You are close to New Bern, a big boating community there, enjoy. And a quaint little downtown, a nice place to visit if you have the time. 😊👋
@@backwatersandbackroads oh so nice! I lived in Eastport Maine for a few years. Loved it up there. Those Rocky Cliffs are so dramatically beautiful, wow. Are you taking the Shanty boat up there? You are living the good life.😊👋🌎
@@222dyan I probably won't take the Shanty to Maine. We're building a skoolie (school bus build) or one of the "metal tents" (car with the back seat pulled out ;)
Stream of consciousness condensed into one reply...as I watch the video. I always hated driving in the snow...luckily I've never lived in a place that had snow after March 15th. While the wooden interior of your boat looks really clean and nice, the wood sure does eat up a lot of space. Seems you are quite the carpenter. If this had been me, I would have already table sawed my hand or fingers off by this point. That looks like March weather...in the part of the States I used to live in. Miserable time...not quite winter, but not really spring. Some really rough water there, but it looks so clean.
Hi Gilded. I will not be coming home before May 1st next year. Martin over on ATAP had it right. Beautiful spring in Tennessee. I guess I have gotten some things done because the weather is too bad to go exploring. We have to get this barge done soon. Are you thankful you aren't in the US in the 2024 leftist fit riots coming
@@backwatersandbackroads Good to keep active and do things for yourself. As political theorist James Harrington would say, I no longer have a stake in America, its politics, or society. I think humanity in groups is doomed...no matter how "informed" they become, they will always pick the same bad solutions to problems. As 2024 goes...it's just another year. Trump didn't do anything during his first four years in office, but talk a good game, celebrate increased immigration and push poisonous pokes. So, he likely won't do anything during his second four years. As he publicly stated, he could deep six someone on the streets of New Yawk in broad daylight and it would have no effect on his popularity.
From what I herd they got 30 inches of snow in Negaunee!
I saw that. It only dusted here in Ontonagon. For some reason Ontonagon is in a weather shadow from the Porkies and gets less snow right here on the lake.
Snow boating rocks. At least when you have a warm cabin on your boat. Which mine lacks.
I need to add some heat to the mix. On the list...
Pasties....Mmmmmmmmm, now we're talking!!
Onna the things I miss about WIS. Nobody knows what they are here out West. :(
There's some mining towns out in California that have them. I grew up in one. Grass Valley ;) Gold rush area
I know that area, and I'm not terribly far from there...over on the Southern Oregon coastline.
Theses people out here just don't know what they're missing! 😁
@53Peterbilt pasties is one of those things that tell you you're in a good place ;)
By the way great editing in this one man good job
Thank you. I need to get Wavey up in the air like a drone. Soon ;)
Good weather would become stale without bad weather! I miss the UP!
This is true, but less of it would still be enough;)
You know Brenton, you're always saying you need content Ideas. Well An easy one for you would be to tour some of the thousands of marinas you have up there, where you could highlight some of the boat deals for sale etc...
I try to avoid marinas and the $ that comes with them, but yes popping into them and showing the boats would always be fun. I know Wayne does that a lot on Lake Michigan
hello from the sunny ozarks Brenton! awesome crafty bed work. enjoying the peace and quietness here, seen 2 people all week! boating in the snow and no fishing?? tight lines!
It's almost time to return home to the Ozarks I'm thinking;)
@@backwatersandbackroads I was planning on taking the boat to Mark Twain lake today. Your comment made me change my mind. I think I will go to lake of the Ozarks instead.
You see my video of my new boat man what a steal
I'll go take a look now...;)
Great video! I'm just looking at some of your older vids and wondering why you didn't do the loop in your little trawler? Have a great time.
The barge is much more comfortable. The Vagabond is better at other adventures (like Superiorland) ;) Thanks for finding us. Please stick around...
Rain last weekend & Mon .Tues .. now 65 deg n Indiana
It's coming up this way...not fast enough
@@backwatersandbackroads 👍😊🌞
Another GREAT "slice of Life"! Love it.
Thanks man. Thank you for appreciating my little channel.
Looks comfy! Snowing but still boating, impressive!!!
I know you've done it Roy...with a wood stove! Such an inspiration. ;)
@@backwatersandbackroads I have but I'm getting a slow start this season, with a build in the shop and a van that needs transmission work! I can drive it but need to fill fluid often and if towing my boat, the oil splatters onto the hull and I launch with an oil slick!!! Not ideal! Best, nice to see your interior coming along Brenton! I dream of living free on a boat one day! Yup you are a BAD influencer! Lol!!! AllthebestRoy
Shanty looks good. How old is Wavy? She moves like a Pup. You and her are a team.......
Thanks man. Wavey is going on 7 years old, hard to believe. She's slowing down a little, but yeah...still living a completely spoiled life. You wouldn't believe it;)
New subscriber. Found you because of your boat, stayed for the beagle. : D
The area you live looks really beautiful. Is that part of Michigan? I have always wanted to visit the Great Lakes. On the bucket list. Safe travels!
Welcome;) the upper peninsula, on the west end. Superiorland. Wavey is the reason most folks are here. I'm just the host :)
A video about the TW 200 and your plans with it would be good content. Key West?😂
Absolutely and coming up soon. I'll never go to Key West again ;)
Man this winter just won't let go this year!! definitely ready for summer adventures!! stay warm!!
Going into May is just cruel! Buy I THINK it's finally let go. 60s this weekend.
Do you live on the Shed boat AKA House boat ? Have you traveled the Minnesota River to the Dakotas ?
Hi Dave, I'm almost finished with a 30x8 welded aluminum barge cabin boat (The Beagle Barge) there's a build series here on my channel. I spend my time between Brainerd and the UP of Michigan in the summer. I haven't explored much of Minnesota on water, mostly lake Superior and the great lakes. I'd like to puddle jump around Minnesota...maybe next summer, this one is already getting away!
@@backwatersandbackroads i have 2 more huge outboard motor swap meets and 2 thrashing shows left is all and would love to head south on the river to the gulf in a sleep aboard boat but i dont have one ! I have fishing , sport and hunting boats though ! lol
@@davekimbler2308 my Nomad is for sale, but it's not "cheap". Its cheap for a Nomad ;)
@@backwatersandbackroads Thanks for the offer but im retired on a very fixed income and it would have to be STUPID Cheap for me to buy it ! LOL. Now if i sold my outboard collection and boats theres more wiggle room ! hahaha
snow in may? where is that?
Ontonagon, Michigan
Should have named Wavey, Sister Betrill from the Flying Nun, of am I showing my age ?
Yes! I'll find some footage. I'm teaching her to fly since I don't have a drone budget ;)
Why not make a bunk bed and save your floor space for other stuff.
I'm thinking of storage above since I'd always be sitting or laying down while on the bed. I'm trying to keep the weight down on the starboard side, seems everything wants to end up here.
You may want to put your head up higher than your feet you'll get a better night's sleep my name is Craig Nelson and I live in Alamogordo New Mexico
Oh yes. I sleep with my head slightly up. The bed is very comfy
My friend your life is Idealic my only concern for you and this is speaking from someone that looked around and said oh my god I'm eighty.
Point is although i akeays tryed in life to work doing things i had a passion for i was able to qualify for a far more than reasonable social security income and some moderate savings.
I wosh the same for you please don't turn a blind eye to the future believe me the future arrives much much sooner than we realize.
Not preaching judt a cautionary word.
Love your videos which i was in a position to help Monitorily.
I do think about my future in that way, and I pray I don't find myself old and broke. My "gamble" and long term twctic is to have all the little necessities a person needs without debt (I don't have debt, just some monthly bills that will go away at some point) and with a small amount of money coming in a month from somewhere I can live a quiet life on the rivers or back roads or off grid homestead without starving or missing out on life because I'm too broke to put gas in it. What I I think many don't think about is just how certain this entire system is breaking down and even those that planned and banked and worked hard for a retirement will get robbed at the end. They're taking it all away from us Dave. I really think it's now or never on taking a look around with relative ease. We shall all find out together. Health and skills are my social security...though even to my surprise, SSI has me down for a monthly payment from a few years of actually making money and taxes. ;) I doubt it will be there at all in a few years. Digital currency and UBI is right around the corner. Always appreciate your thoughts and comments.
Hey you should have stayed in Tennessee. I grew up close to Watertown new York. On lake Ontario.. so i now live in panacea Florida. My middle life was in derby Indiana. .on the Ohio river. So from lake Ontario to the Ohio river to the big bend area of Florida. All on the water. Stay south later next year
Derby indiana is beautiful! I lived just down the road in Rome
I definitely should have stayed in Tennessee longer. Martin had it right...come home in May
