- Well howdy fellow adventurers, Wavey and I have been running all over Superiorland when we aren't chipping away at what feels like endless Beagle Barge projects. Surely they must eventually come to an end? We actually started on the front door, hoping and praying I'm doing it right. Out of all the things I have to get done on the boat, this is the one I most wish I had help on. Remember: when this waterways show finally happens, it will be a living testament that anyone can make it happen, because I was able to (with no help from the lazy beagle)

A small adventure vehicle is a good plan.
A shanty/ house boat is next on my bucket list but it's going to be my forever home so I kinda putting it at the bottom of the list
you have a good demeanor.....it almost feels as if we are along on this adventure....

Hey Brent. The Wife and I were up on Gogebic a couple of weeks ago. We took a side trip to Agate Beach and I think we passed each other on Walsh road. I am driving and see this sea foam colored Toyota heading West and thought 'I have seen this car on BWBR'. Now yeah, Lake Gogebic is a fun lake to explore. The lake is big enough to keep space between boats and warm enough in August to jump in. It really is a gem. Antonio's in Bergland is a great place to eat for those traveling in the area. We ate there half a dozen time so had breakfast, fish fry and a pizza. Solid place. Take care.
Now I have to explore Gogebic;) my deer camp is on the LP Walsh
Camped at the Lake Gogebic Campground last fall on a color tour. 4 campers in the campground. Beautiful spot.

We camped at Lake Gogebic State Park a few years ago, and we absolutely loved it. I think most of the campers were locals, and they treated us like family. I thought you still had the metal tent. I didn't know it got destroyed. Sorry for that loss, but I'm glad Wavey was safe.
And a new metal tent...with high top! ;) Lake Gogo looks like a really nice place, and it's only 30 miles away. How yall doing BTW? I'll be in Tennessee a lot this fall and winter. No hurry to get more south. I might try to be the first shanty boat to get over the duck river bar ;)

The wife and I just toured the Keweenaw peninsula this week and loved it. We car camped all over and even in your neck of the woods, the lower parking lot at the marina. Also met a resident of town who invited us back to his place on the way to the porkies just out of town. Great people great town.
That was a nice little productive trip. when telling your car burning experience it reminded me of mine. my beloved old 67 Sunbeam alpine roadster caught on fire on me 4 o’clock one morning on my way home from the bars. I was drunk and ran for my life. That all the wiring caught on fire easily

A trick to get Wavy to come when you call her - Reese's Pieces. Vet approved because it's peanut butter (dogs should not be given chocolate).
Worked like a charm for my pup.
Hardest part is not eating them yourself IMHO.

@@backwatersandbackroads Thanks Brenton! I'm from Cork in the south of Ireland. Do you know where your heritage originates from within Ireland? I have some videos on my channel ok, but mostly of flying sailplanes. I'm too lazy to do anything other than point and shoot with no edits.
@MrSheymie I went to Ireland a few years ago for 2 weeks. Rented a diesel hatchback (pulled the back seats out with the Cresent wrench I brought from the US) we stuffed them in the trees and slept in the back 10 out of 14 nights ;) Cork was awesome. I remember it being crowded. The street performers were awesome. Can you believe it didn't even rain on us the whole time. Maybe a mist here and there. Absolutely loved it and want to go back. My mom's side is Irish decent, it works be hard to trace that down with so many millions of Irish coming to America back on the day. I always jokingly say, my fun loving Irish side always gets bossed around by my tyrannical German side ;) and it's true! Thanks again for sticking around my little channel. I think we have some good stuff coming up.

😂 You drove past my driveway on Norwich...I am way back in...You have to ice fish Gogebic..Monster perch..Walleye are plentiful..It's a legend lake to downstaters..Excellent fishing of all kinds..great video..👍

I have been following you for awhile now but do not always comment and thought I would take a few minutes to encourage you and thank you for sharing your journey with me.. I a retired guy and my adventures at an older age can not be the same as when I was younger.. I love unique places and things.. I missed a great deal on a Big Ruckus but continue to find a deal.. I have been riding since I was 16 and see no reason to go fast anymore.. When I teach, it is how to present in that specific moment because that is the only one we have.. Being aware will all our senses, seeing the fluttering of leaves or smell fragrance of flowers on a warm wind or the baying of our dogs saying come spend some time with.. Give my regards to Wavy and I should be sending her some treat money soon.. I look forward to each new episode of your adventures..

Another great video i like everything you've done to the barge hope you spoke to your fiberglass guy about sealing the butt ends of your siding I'd hate to think of all that good work going for nought.
I wish I had a "fiberglass guy" Dave ;) and a "door guy" too. How about chalking under the edges and trim across the bottom?
Yes but use a really good one like and pardon the spelling secaflex.
What I'd really like to see you do ls un loosen the bottom screws msybe cut the leading edge up a little higher get some aluminum z flashing caulk the heck out of the butt ends of the siding then run up the leading edge of the z flash behind it then run a horizontal strip of composite material up under the z flash then reattach the tounge and groove and use some stainless steel finish nails to secure the composite .
This will insure you have a wayer tight application and make your siding ladt for the duration of the bosts life
Sorry to have to use this forum but it's alm I've got the primary issue with just caulking and trim is that you've got tounge and groove a d (all) water will migrate down those grooves and end up rotting the butt ends

They ARE like little trucks with camper shells on them :) Appleton is about 4 hours south of lake superior.
OK so I'm gathering that this Beagle Barge is maybe your second one? I recall your showing us one that had a white "cabin" on it or is it t he same one but redone? Sorry to go on LOL
Hi Lisa, we built one back in 2018, and refurbished 26 foot little hobo and took it to Florida. This would be our second shanty boat ;)
How’s the Scion handle? If you make it look nicer take weight into consideration. Especially since that’s part of what killed your original one.
They handle about like they look...a box on wheels :) I can hardly tell the roof extension is there...buy I haven't experienced any side winds yet (North Dakota will show me that) I had so much weight in the 1st one (over 1k pounds, and leveraged out the back) it was just plain dumb (though I did it several times without the fire part) I want this one to last, so I'll be nicer to it. My solar business has nearly died, so that solves that problem. Can't wait to go on a little metal tent excursion. Stay tuned! ;)
