S. Molnom Village- The Pros and Cons Of Being The Cleanest Village In Manipur.

- Snugged assumedly near the Highway in Kangpokpi district, S. Molnom village is considered the cleanest village in Manipur. The place is located about 24 km from Imphal, and the village chief Haokhotinlian ( Helian ) Vaiphei struggles to keep his village clean amidst increasing visitors. Something he was not prepared for.
I had a rare chance to meet him at his village and this is our conversation.

Some villages are claiming theirs are cleanest, had visited some of them, but this village is truly and officially the best.

Though there is no questions about where did the village chief gets funds to build the infrastructure like roads, ponds, drainage,fencing,etc.I think and I do believe the chief is utilising all the developmental funds honestly and accordingly for his village.A lesson every village chiefs should learn and abide. I will also like to add S.Molnom will be the least corrupted village in Manipur interms of utilisation of developmental funds from the govt.

Good video sir. I think the state government should introduce some sort of initiative that ranks villages on the basis of sanitation,cleanliness and hygiene and give them an award annually or so.(Just like the "Swacch Survekshan Grameen").That would stim up other villages to do the same and we might actually see a healthy competition on this domain.

Been there, a few times, but not done yet. Visiting this village is a therapy for the body, soul and mind. Far from the maddening crowd lays a place called S. Molnom where we find solace. Such place we find so less elsewhere. I find ample time to tie and untie my shoe-laces here. This nondescript village in the hinterland of Kangpokpi by dint of its own effort and resilience has made its mark in 'Places to visit' list in Manipur. If S Molnom can do it, why can't other villages and town follow suit?! A single match stick can ignite the revolution. This place is the lone match stick....
