Your "good enough for the table" philosophy on minis is a very necessary and underrepresented PoV. Thanks for making painting more approachable: more no-nonsense grow-the-hobby advice!

Almost every pro painter on youtube really recommends painting to table top standard for the most part, because if you do your best work on every fig you will drive yourself mad. That said, Sam Lenz's table top standard it probably better than my best work.

Tip for the army shade. Apply mineral spirits to a make up qtip and highlight by hitting your high spots like the skull masks’ forehead. You need to do this at about the ten minute mark on setting the shade give or take. This will strip a bit of the shade and brighten it up in a highlight. The best part is you can highlight without having to wait for the cure and the highlight looks more natural than applying color on top of the shade. It’s pretty simple and the effect is good

Also note you don't have to soak the models at all actually. If you want you can get a rubbermaid sink tub and fill it with luke warm water and some dish washing soap. Let them sit for a few minutes and take a soft bristled tooth brush and gentle rub the soap over the models and then wash them off and dry them with a hairdryer and you're good to go. I've been doing that method for over a decade and never a problem. Works great for metal miniatures as well.
