    I think it’s very cool that with as much as you have done, you are still open to other people’s ideas and can implement them as well, and like any good academic site, your sources!

    I love your tutorials. You very clearly articulate the process during the demonstration, and you add important tips along the way. Keep on doing your thing.

      Thanks, Bill. I thought this one was pretty good but it didn't get the number of views I was expecting. I appreciate you watching!

    Excellent way to produce a good terrain.
    I'll use that in my games for sure.

    I made my own UDT a couple weekends back (it was tons of fun and it looks incredible!), about a dozen wall sections, and just started carving a staircase of my own the other night. I love these corners! I was going to make mine out of foam core, but this approach will match the other terrain MUCH better. Great video, and thanks!

    I made some of these with Black Magic Craft's individual brick method. It was probably a bit more work but I really like the result!

    Another great video. I always look forward to seeing notifications for this channel. Really wanting to see the next campaign update video. I haven't been able to find anyone who makes a movie with minis like you & your wife do. Blessed be.

    I heard you say not to use hot glue because it will melt the xps. Use low temp hot glue ,it works great. Love the vid we have a small playing table im going to make the UDT. Love all your vids

      Here's the thing--then I'd be out of the youtube business and into the terrain business. Terrain is full-time.

      They'd be expensive and the people who would pay for them already buy dungeon terrain. I like his because they are for the do it yourselfer who has the time and would rather craft a piece of terrain than work the extra time it would take to make up the difference in cost to buy one.

    Why dont you paint the terrain pieces and their bases at the same time? Glue the base first, then paint both at once.

      You can but it is more messy as it kinda falls apart. once you put modpog - white glue that hardens then clear coat it it stays together ok.

    • @bluefish5
      @bluefish5 Před 5 lety

      I think if you mixed white school glue into the black paint, or modpog if you have access to it, it would make the styrofoam strong enough to handle the other layers of paint. Carving it up might be messy, but if you're careful I bet it will look great.

      @aarontuftee9032 Před 5 lety +2

      I don’t recommend Styrofoam in place of XPS foam. It can be done but both behave differently when working with them. You cannot cleanly cut through styrofoam nor can you texture it the aluminum trick. Styrofoam has a texture that is uniform. If you don’t care about rocky texture too much, you can use white glue to seal the styrofoam as well as fill small gaps.

    If your only going to use one room at a time why not use theater of the mind, Which would allow for more creativity. Your players are just going to surround the monster anyway why even limit your self with dungeon tiles?

    • @bluefish5
      @bluefish5 Před 5 lety +2

      Because this looks cool?
      You should watch the Ultimate Dungeon Terrain video for a real answer though. UDT acts more like set dressing in a theater production than a detailed and literal representation of the scene. That's how I see at it anyway. It looks way better than a quick sketch I would produce playing Theater of The Mind and it's a lot of fun to craft. I think it's an excellent middle-ground between strict ToTM and a more tactical setup.
      I don't agree with you about ToTM allowing for more creativity. I've seen it lead to confusion just as many times as it leads to creativity. And I've seen props and scenery laid down by a GM on the table act as the catalyst for extremely creative/insane/funny Player actions. It's not a binary situation. It's a complimentary one. Both styles support and enhance each other.
