What's really encouraging is that, the strength of his game, awareness/position/short passes, is relatively less form-reliant, and will only get better as he ages. Great CM in the making!
I knew it was a matter of time, Cleverly's performance that day was too impossibly good to go on unacknowledged, I would have given him the man of the match.
cleverly is a class player! we really missed him last season with his two big setbacks. hopefully this season he can stay fit!

before ando's season got curtailed by injury, he as well as cleverley were two player's who got us playing very attractive football for about 8 games running which included an 8-2 hammering of arsenal, the biggest ive seen at OT. Granted he has been inconsistent, but the kid has potential which he was beginning to realise before another season ending injury. hence the reason i say he should stay fit. they all do...if they do, this season imo could be something special...

Joy to watch. Plays more and more like Paul Scholes every time I see him. He's obviously been picking up a lot in training. I'd have a midfield 3 of Cleverley and Carrick (or Anderson) behind Kagawa and a front 3 of Welbeck, Rooney and Nani.
Dude this has to be the most accurate assessment of Lampard I have read, it's the same thing I have been saying all along! Lampards Goal record over shadows that he's technically not a very good football player.

Cleverley needs a loan in the PL!!! He needs to be played in the CDM role and brush up on his defensive skills, shooting and long passing. Aside from that, his pace, energy, passing and dribbling are all exquisite. When he learns to shoot, defend and hit some 30yd passes through the air, I can see him doing very well for United and replacing Carrick as the brains of the United team.
The two aspects of his game I think he needs to improve is his shooting and long range passing. Then he'd become a world class. He's still young and improving. His short passing is very accurate and he dictates play well so there is no reason why he can't start pinging out longer ones. Go Tom!

at the beginning of last season when we had clevs and ando in midfield we were tearing teams apart... look what clevs done to man city in the charity sheild! :p if clevs stays fit, watch the development of an absolute beast player!

fair enough i see ur point. hopefully that changes this season. surely as a united fan u should hope so too. and dont forget his first season when we was alongside hargreaves in the middle how good he played. hopefully jesse lingard and petrucci from the academy get chances this season as well as tunicliffe cos i will hate to see more potential like that leave. but like i said, i get your point.

The thing with Ando is that he has been a prospect for too long now. He need to show that he is worldclass, but I haven't seen that in more than 1-2 games.
They are all good players but i was trying to make a balanced england team, can't just have all the best players in one team if it isn't balanced. Wilshere and Cleverley are both attacking minded players so they would need a player who will be able to sit and help out defensively which is why i picked rodwell who has the potential to be very good.
Sterling and Chamberlain would be good alternatives but i think walcott and lennon would served best as an impact players. IMO
not every world class midfielder needs long range passing like scholes, xavi and alonso. just look at iniesta probably the best midfielder in the world, his main attributes are keeping possession in tight areas, one touch football and dribbling. clevs ticks all those boxes, not saying he's as good as iniesta but if he becomes half the player he is then i'll be happy.
If he works on his shooting then he could become the complete midfield package like a young Paul Scholes.

Johnson and young are brilliant when on form. Rodwell can play as the holding player while Cleverley and Wilshere have the ability to pass teams off the pitch. Cahill to have abit of experience at the back and Jones could be a future England captain. Richards could be RB too
ferdinand and vidic in the back cleverly and kagawa in the mid of the field with rooney and hopefully RVP as our 2 strikers ... which team can stop us ?

I hope Wilshere can come back from his mysterious injury and partner Cleverly in midfield for England. They would give the midfield intelligence which is lacking

If only he can spray laser passes like Scholes then there is no need to buy a Scholes replacement, but he can learn that from the master himself.

i allways rated cleverly.....it brings me prie snd joy to see one of our players work his way up to the first team all the way from the academy!......its even more funny watchingLiverpool paying 15 million for joe allen.....when cleverley is clearly better and didnt cost a thing

a.johnson cant really interchange positions. chamberlain passes better and can play anywhere behind the striker and so can rooney and young. Those 3 would create tons of chances for even heskey to get the golden boot. you need 3 players in the middle who can keep possession and rodwell isnt one of them.
