My RV Works, Inc., Certified RV Technician, Darren Koepp, continues the 2nd season of “Ten Minutes With A Tech”.
Michael asks about the screw used for holding a Lippert (Schwintek) slide room system motor in place in the H-Column. Darren gives a quick overview of the H-Column and how the motor fits into it and discusses the screw used and what you could replace that missing screw with, if it falls out.
Corey inquired about what lubricant should be used on a slide room system’s slide bearings, or the rollers that the slide room sits on. Darren gives some information on the bottom rollers of a slide room system and discusses lubricant and whether it should be used or not.
Stay tuned for the rest of the 2nd season of the show where more questions will get answered!

Just wanted to pass on a great kudo for your recommendation of using the silicon lubricant spray. We have a 2021 Winnebago Voyage travel trailer in Wisconsin northwoods and could not get the shwintek slide out to work. It would only move maybe 2 inches and then motor quits. After lubricating the recommended places from your video voila! the slide out works! It moves in and out smoothly. I keep the buttom pushed for a few seconds after it stops moving so as to complete alignment. Thanks for the great tip!

I have a 2008 holiday rambler Augusta. My chassis battery charges fine when I am driving but not my house batteries. Should the alternator charge the house batteries when the engine is running?

Darren (and anyone else) - I too have made the mistake of using WD40 on my rack and pinion slide out. You mention a degreaser - what kind? I'd like to get it completely clean and use the CRC-PTFE. Simple green and a brush? I was considering the Simple Green - BBQ as it has "degreaser" on the can.

Love the information here.. coming in late to the discussion about the Slide-In motor. Curious how to access that motor.. just to see if my screws are there? I feel like I should be doing some maintenance on my slide-out as it seems to be making a little more noise this season and I'm not sure where to look to find that motor. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi thanks for watching, if you check out our playlist on Slide rooms, you'll learn more than you ever want to know about these systems LOL.
Unfortunately, no two manufacturers put these together exactly the same. The screw that holds a motor down will be on the outside and you might need to pull back a bit of the bulb seal to see it. And some of our videos we do cover where that screw should be located.

I have an AquaHot 450D with reporter 2.0 in my 2020 Class A. Lately, I’ve been having an issue with frequent Overheat faults. The unit does not overheat immediately on startup, the overheat fault tends to occur after it has been on about 12 hours or longer. It works perfectly until then. It was still in warranty when the problem began, so AquaHot sent me a new Reporter 2.0 which I installed but the issue persisted. Next they sent a temp sensor to change out, but I can’t find any component inside that looks like what they sent. Can you think of any other component that could cause this overheat fault?

Instead of drilling and tapping couldn't you use a 1/4 inch 1/2 inch long steel pop rivet. It could still be removed if necessary. Just a thought.

Concerning the screw - how do you access it? - is it accessible from the outside of the RV when the slide is extended?

I was wondering the same thing. Will take a look when I go to the trailer next time and see what location works best.
