    2007 Toyota camry misfiring. Changed plugs to recommend plugs by Toyota. Still misfiring. Did your check here to see if it was the coil. It was the coil so I replaced it. 2 weeks later the new coil is bad. Parts place gave me another coil. Now that coil is bad. What is the problem? The ignition module?

    I have changed the spark plugs and the ignition coils and it still misfires. I have over 2 hundred thousand miles on my 08 camry. It's only one spark plug that keeps doing this.

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  Před rokem +1

      What codes are present? I would say then that it's not ignition related. Just to confirm you can put an inline spark tester on the bad cylinder and see if it's getting spark. If not you may have an electrical issue with that coil's circuit. I would do a compression test next as that's the next easiest thing to do. Low compression can cause a misfire. If all looks good then swap the fuel injector with a different cylinder and see if the problem follows the injector.

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah when a misfire is bad enough to cause damage to the catalytic converter it will blink the check engine light. On some vehicles it will turn off the fuel injector for that cylinder so raw fuel isn't contaminating the converter. Thanks for watching!

      @@ValleyMobileAutomotive could my catalytic converter be going out?

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  Před 2 lety +2

      @@trenyispretty9154 a misfire and lack of power can come from a plugged converter but I wouldn't jump to that conclusion, you need to first check codes and pinpoint the cause of the misfire. It could just be something simple like spark plugs or an ignition coil and your converter is fine. But a misfire that goes unchecked for a long time can cause your converter to fail.

    What if there is no code?

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  Před 2 lety +3

      Sometimes an intermittent misfire won't throw a code until it reaches a curtain number of misfires within a given time. I would still unplug one coil at a time to see which cylinder is missing. Then swap coils to determine if that's the cause.
      Possible misfire causes:
      Coil
      Plug
      Injector
      Compression
      Wiring to the coil or injector

      I have a 2013 camry 2.5L 4 cylinder.
      It stumbles intermittently only at medium acceleration specially taking off from a stop sign or red light in between 2-3 gear shift. With light foot or 3 quarter gas paddle pushed, it never hesitates and runs flawlessly. Ran OBD ll scanner and found no pending codes. Things I have done so far includes:
      1. Changed spark plugs
      2. Cleaned MAF
      3. Inspected the whole intake for leaks
      4. Performed tests on coils (like the one showed in this video)
      The car has only 115000kms on it and it gets pretty frustrating and scary sometimes when it stumbles on a busy street where people are tailgating you.
      Any leads will be highly appreciated.

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  Před 2 lety +1

      @@uincredible see if it acts up when you put the transmission in drive but hold the brake down and give it has for a few seconds. This puts a load on the engine without the car moving. A lot of times an ignition issue will present itself more under load. Only do this for about 5 to 10 seconds then let it idle for about a minute before doing it again. Let me know the outcome 👍 we want to know if you feel it missing when you do that and is it consistent.

    • @uincredible
      @uincredible Před 2 lety +1

      Did exactly what you advised and surprisingly nothing happened. Turns out it was something else. Transmission compensation code was messed up. I don’t know how but that was the reason why my camry was having a hiccup between 2-3 shift.

      @@ValleyMobileAutomotive Thank you! I have a 2011 Venza 3.5 litre v6 and I'm getting 14mpg. Mileage went really bad a few months ago, BEFORE it got cold... • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  Před 5 měsíci

      @@nedmilburn An issue like a bad ignition coil would be accompanied with a check engine light. You would need a diagnostic scan tool to check the oxygen sensors. If you don't have that equipment I would recommend taking it to a reputable shop. There are a number of things that can cause poor gas mileage so it's hard to say without diagnosis.
