Universal Sovereignty: Jehovah Can't Handle a Bully

  • When challenged by a bully.... his own 'son'... Jehovah decided to 'take the challenge' and let the bully torture all of his children to get a point across. Let's take a look at the details of this cornerstone doctrine of Jehovah's Witnesses and learn how Jehovah's name means more to him than anything else....

This one was powerful and probably the most triggering for many of us who were raised in our era Stacy ! Mainly because they don’t emphasize his sovereignty as much anymore . But you are so right , it just never really made any sense that he’d allow a bully to just abuse and torture his creations when he has the power to stop it ! The JW’s doctrine is just so flawed but that cognitive dissidence is a beast , just doesn’t allow most witnesses to really think things thru (it’s amazing because we were there at one time)

The thing that used to always bother me about this is, that if it was never recorded, NO ONE WOULD’VE KNOWN THIS HAPPENED. Literally no one was privy to the conversation except J-dog and some angels and who were they gonna tell? Humans would’ve never been the wiser, we would’ve only known him as “creator dude” and would’ve just been cool with him by proxy. There would’ve never been a need to PROVE his importance if he would’ve kept his mouth shut about Satan’s challenge in the first place 🙄

I woke up around the time of the awful Texas school shooting a few months ago and it really hit me (having three young babies starting school this fall) and I couldn’t stop myself from thinking jehovah is just sitting there letting this happen. All just to “sanctify” his own name. He’s watching babies die and does nothing. We didn’t ask to be here we didn’t ask to be part of this stupid war between him and satan. So we have to suffer just so he can prove himself right??! So selfish and mean!

I was born in, never agreed to study or get baptized. At age 12 I thought none of it made any sense. By age 14 when refusing to participate in the congregation's delusions I was marked bad association so couldn't even have a girl my age want to be around me. I had to sit in a kingdom hall 3 days a week knowing I was not wanted or liked. Being a victim of child abuse during this time made me also question everything such as why are these God appointed people not helping me and I'm very sensitive to the story of "here torture and kill" my kid when God just let his son be humiliated, tortured and killed. Children from abuse like me could never be converted to Christianity simply because of that. I was expected to admire Jehovah for his poor treatment of his son as I'm getting abused for years as a child then marked bad because I just can't think like the other kids in the congregation. I ran away from home 9 days before my 16th birthday and that is how I got out of an abusive JW home and out of the cult.

I’m so glad to see another video from you! I look forward to hearing what you have to say! Besides your very soothing voice, I totally love your humor! I grew up in the org close to the same time as you.
I always felt confused about being told that I HAVE to love Jehovah when he just seemed like a monster and bully to me. It didn’t make sense to me that he had all these big wonderful plans of paradise, but just left me suffering day in and day out. A lot of things didn’t make sense to me and always felt that something was seriously wrong with this religion. I’d constantly question things, especially when they’d take verses out of context within the WT or book study. In my preteen & early teenage years, the elders eventually told my parents to not allow me to read the Bible unsupervised. But the elders actually started “counseling” me beginning around age 5 (alone in the library) because I was such a disobedient child! They’d tell me that I’d better hope & pray that Armageddon didn’t come that night because Jehovah was going to destroy me for sure! They also told my mom that it was her fault that my stepdad was so violent and would praise him for not “sparing the rod”. One of the elders was so kind as to make a big wooden paddle, complete with holes for that extra sting, to keep in the furnace room downstairs for all the dads to beat their kids with! And this was another thing that confused me… these people were our “friends”??? And I’m supposed to WANT to spend Forever with these people?! Of course, I got in more trouble for saying so, but by the time I was about 8, I told them that I hope I do die in Armageddon and hope there is a hell because I’d rather burn there than live with them forever. I think back now and honestly wonder how I survived! Why wasn’t that a huge red flag to anyone that an 8 year old was suicidal?! Thankfully my parents quit attending regularly when I was 13/14. They still fully believed at that time, but it took some stress off to not have to go to the hall and prepare for the meetings or service. My heart breaks for the kids in there now! My own children, all adults now, have never set foot inside a Kingdom Hall!
Sorry to ramble! 😅This was a triggering video! I really do enjoy listening to you though! I think the cursing is absolutely justified! You were obviously one of the good ones in the org! I’m so glad you got out! Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and taking the time to create content! ❤

Surviving, I loved this one. My thoughts exactly! And you added a couple new gems to my own arsenal. Great illustration. I just cant tolerate seeing suffering. I reached a point in my life, after seeing a darling, funny as heck, little 6 yr old girl, get a rare virus, that left her seizing so violently to this day, that she has to go to the hospital to be put out, so she can rest! 💔 They removed half of her brain to try to stop it. Her family, not JW's, prayed & fasted. Salt of the earth people, who claim me as family, while my own shuns me. That did it for me! What kind of an sob allows this torture to clear their "good" name! Centuries of torture! Shame on him!
You asked us about handling bullies. I grew up w/ 4 brothers & my parents best friends family of 7 boys. Im a petite woman who has spent my life working with horses & other animals. I have faced bears, alone, in the wilderness. No matter how scared you are, you never turn your back, & never run. You cant panic, you have to keep thinking. I have had a dog in field service go for my throat. I shoved my bible down its throat, stomped my foot & yelled at him to "go lay down!" He did. A horse can flatten me. Ive dealt w/ wild stallions & severely abused horses. You show tender kindness & make them move their feet before you move your own. Most bullies will back down as soon as you stand up to them. When you are god, NO CONTEST, right? I cant find a single excuse for him.

Boy, I could not agree more with your observations about this topic. As a consequence of my own obserations, I have often expressed to my still in wife, I would have handled this so-called challenge to Jehovah's Sovereignty totally different because the love I have for my creation would NOT permit me to put them through hell, with all its suffering. I have used this argumentation with a JW friend who promptly told me that I had no right to question Jehovah's' universal sovereignty (damn that's a hard word to spell!), when I was talking about how the book of Job is one of the most morally repugnant stories ever told. It's very sad, this cult has turned her into an uncaring robot. I then told her that she needed to readjust her own moral compass. It's sad that otherwise empathetic people would give a pass to such an easily exposed morally bereft worldview. It's frightening and maddening and sure as hell pisses me off whenever I hear it. And he's the kicker their kids know nothing of what is going on, yet they are also allowed to be tortured. In fact they have a "choice" remain getting tortured to "prove" Jehovah's sovereignty or join the rebel and die. Full disclosure I believe in the bible and God however this is a subject that JW'S do not understand. For that matter many Christians. This cannot be the reason as to why there is suffering. Yes, Stacey, Europe is known as the Catholic Europe, where Rome (Emperor Constatine) established the Religion of Catholism much in the manner of 'Mithiraism' a popular religion in it's day. Constantine was the first Pope (Father) of the new religion . One religion/ One Empire! What part of the world you are born in you will worship in the manner of your parents. Stacey I appreciate your podcast, but this is my last comment because i need to heal from years of abuse i have suffered at the hands of bully elders, their wives, and the live tools (believe it or not from the world) that they have employed (some locals from the neighborhood)to make my life pure hell. I gave my letter of disassociation last saturday because at age 67 i want a little happiness before i die. In 1 of your podcast i mentioned that the JWs persecute their own people and that is TRUE. I was persecuted relentlessly by them because at age 46 i dared to go to nursing school here in brooklyn ny because i did not want to starve later in life. 1 elder told me that i will be persecuted until i die. I was called bad association and crazy. I was isolated, slandered, and treated as though i had the dreaded plague. I was even followed on the subway, and my professors were told awful things about me. BY JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES. I can go into some details that will make your head spin like the exorcist, sŕo when i say some of the persecution comes from within, trusts me, IT COMES FROM THE ORGANIZATION. Even at places of employment. One witness who had an uncle in the nursing home where i worked said to me, "why did you let someone steal your fire?" I almost gave her a tongue lashing, but i kept my peace. I walked off the job about 6 weeks ago because i was bullied by a supervisor, and 2 JW nurses on the floor who had the elders' blessing. Again, thanks for your podcasts, i know they will help people. Another disturbing truth, the bible states that Jehovah is not unrighteous to forget your works or the love you showed for his name. But the organization does forget because the elders do forget. With a bunch of children to feed and care for, i had a book study in my home, fed the bethelites, gave gatherings, greased the palms of circuit overseers, gave gifts at weddings, and a host of other things that have ALL BEEN FORGOTTEN by the JWs. You can give your all, give your body to feed the poor, but when you stand up for yourself, and start to think for yourself(especially when you don't have a husband) you have signed your death warrant. Most of Jehovah's Witnesses are loveless clones. As long as you do things Jehovah's way, but end up homeless and eating out of garbage cans, you are righteous in their eyes. But when you start to think for yourself, and end up with a little social security, not even pension (because i wasted so many years listening to these liars)i am branded as a lost cause, according to 1 elder. Therefore, i have had enough. I am gone, i don't hate the organization because they are a few good things i have learned along the way, but i have experience 30 years of hell at the hands of the JWs.

I was the same at a very young age that had countless questions about the horror stories offered by the plenty in the Bible. Really all Christian’s who have just a ounce of critical thought or a small amount of intellectual intelligence should have these questions and doubts running through their own minds. The Bible really is the most violent, dangerous, horror story book ever written through out time. It’s filled with a lot of sexual platitudes right down to Lot laying down with his daughter’s and having sex with them. Incest - yes go figure why some Jehovah’s Witness court cases dealing with fathers who served as elders committing incest with their own daughters are and have happened. Who’s teaching them this stuff? Yup the Bible is the seed of all evil. Sadly 70% of the people living all over the earth today are part of some sort of religious belief. Countless God followers worshiping countless amounts of different Gods. Tons of different doctrinal beliefs because you can create endless amount of context for a single scripture and mold it into a belief system to start up a cult. Ever wonder why we’ve had horrific wars throughout history? Why we never will see peace and love shown towards one another? Hate and violence ceasing to exist? Who and what influenced mankind to these evil acts and perverted ways of thinking? Yes it all comes from the Bible. It’s a book filled with endless violence and Jehovah’s Witnesses are the worst when it comes to showing violence in their propaganda literature from study books to the magazines. These pictures you used for your video thumbnail are great examples of what Jehovah’s Witnesses fill their minds with and teach their children. It’s utterly disgusting and why I had thousands amounts of horrible nightmares from childhood growing up. Proof is right there.
Once again Stacy you have given excellent thought, intellectualism, and reality into every one of your podcasts and I thank you for that. It’s given me vindication that I’m not the only one who had so many of these doubts or issues with doctrinal beliefs of the Bible and Jehovah’s Witnesses. It’s definitely helpful to the healing process and helpful towards desensitization needed to escape our former beliefs. I’m to Agnostic now, border lining Atheism and not being ashamed of it. Evolution makes far more sense to me then the Bible and Religion. If you study the science behind dating dinosaurs and fossils, and many bones found from early prehistoric man, it’s unquestionable that the Adam and Eve/Noah’s Ark nonsense doesn’t make sense nor provides any proof.

@@survivingparadisepodcast - Ya that's a good way to go about it, but you did at least say that you are agnostic after studying the Bible over 7 times after I guess leaving the cult. I don't know if you needed to do that over 7 times, but it could only help. But that was enough to fully catch my radar because I know how many ex JW's continue down the path of wanting to believe in something there is absolutely no proof about. But we can't take that right away from them. Religion as I see it will by no means disappear, nor do I see the JW's ever fully dissolving. Sadly though we as a species have very little time to get on a path to save our species, because it's all gonna end either 1 of 2 ways. Either we eliminate ourselves off this planet by nuclear war, or we ignore climate change which is upon us with an overdose of proof and in the end, the earth will remain, but will be unable to support life and go back to the ice age. Sad, but it's a reality we have to accept as the science and warnings behind climate change have been given over 40 years ago, but have largely been ignored over Capitalism. We've hit the point of no return with the planet warming at a rate we will probably not be able to reverse.
Hope I'm not scaring you off. I feel you probably are aware of these consequences we've brought upon ourselves.
