This game has a huge potential , developers should make some improvements in oncoming patches .
With how relatively detailed this building is, I'm surprised they didn't make you do stuff like chinking to seal up a house.

@@DeeboWRLD I know how it sounds. But chinking is sealing, like a log cabin they call it "chinking" to seal all the air gaps and such.

@@DeeboWRLD Pioneers used to use wood chips and sticks that they put between the gaps in the logs, then sealed it with a mud/earth cement to insulate the structure.

For the roof walls, wpuldnt you cut the log at each red line so you have 1 length of each? And it would fit in if u put them in the right order?

@@pofht cut up the logs into different sizes. Place largest to smallest from the bottom to the top.

It doesn't work, it centeres the logs. For that to work, it had to line up at the edge. You can not make 90 degree triangles. it would be nice if you could decide where on the logs you want to put the next one.

There are some free build objects that aren't in the book. Stick fences, stick spikes, rope bridges. I wish bone had some building options because I have too many.

You can fill the side spots with smaller logs that you cut. If you want to fill the gaps.

The building system is fairly solid, but I'd swear it's more resource-grindy than Conan Exiles on default settings.
If you want to use even less wood when building your house, you don't need vertically placed logs for your walls, simply stack them horizontally.
Are you able to build a roof if you do that?

@Christopher I have used the free-form building, not originally seeing snap points for vertical. Stacked logs and placed flat roof/floor. Makes a decent defensive platform with ranged weapons. Yes, roof/floor worked fine.

Can you build a foundation first? So you dont have worry if the ground is leveled? Similar to Valheim
Uneven ground is not an issue, the game automatically levels your foundation but you may need to use more logs for that. Unfortunately you can't build on cliffs yet tho.

What if you want to have more space and do roof without floor section (second floor) so you can have high ceiling ? I'm trying to do it, but its bugged for me for some reason....
I had to still put the cross members in and the corner supports the way he shows and then just put the pillars on top of the cross member by jumping. And then jusst don't fill in the 2nd floor

I love this building system, god I fucking do but the Mutants/Cannibals are far too strong/aggressive to make this even worth doing on anything but peaceful. Especially once the big shit starts coming out they just bust straight through walls.
You can change your settings for structure damage at any point. So you can play hard mode and have as many enemies as you want but invincible structures so they don't tear down your progress.

Odd, myself and others are having issues with the doors. For some reason the door is attached the other way around, no matter what side i put the planks on its facing the wrong side.

Can somebody fill me in, I'm brand new to this sort of game. so far ive been traveling around the map setting up my little tent to save the game and sleep. What's the point of setting up a cabin/house since you are basically wondering the map non stop.
defense. sooner or later the cannibals get pissed and raid you. ironically, the bigger an impact you have on the environment the quicker they get pissed. the mere existence of the cabin angers them faster. most mutants are always hostile, tho not all in this game. in the first game all mutants were hostile.

@@fistovuzi You will soon find out there are multiple canibal tribes and they hate eachother especially the mutants thats why you see tied up ones in custody, i think the developers plan a fully grown "faction-war" among the cannibals on this island.
@@Shupra94 There is no real benefit to base building for story progression, its kind of its own thing. They should add a mode where you set up defence in one location and survive againts a hord of eneimes within a time frame to progress the story.

it is amazing to build but there is one thing that i hate, always hated in the first part and in almost every game like this:
the gaping moonscape you leave behind when building a small hut like this!!! i mean it's sort of realistic to need that many logs but it is not fun... i hate if i build a house and by the time i am finished there is almost no tree standing around my house in a radius of 500m!! what is this? at least make the trees grow back faster! usually when i am done with the build i am so disgusted by the surroundings that i don't want to live there anymore. games really need to do something about this: (re)planting trees? like in minecraft for example.
Try and build next to a stream, build some wall in the water as a log stopper, and go up stream to cut trees, toss 'em in the water and they'll all float downstream to yer house ;)

You're doing it all wrong. You should build proper foundations then it doesn't matter if the ground isn't level as your foundations will be.
wasted hours trying to build this cottage, i'm amazed that people would consider this fun, would rather just build a real cottage than this
