  • Lender's bagels quality control sucks. The worst bagel that has been around since I was a kid just can't make the perfect bagel.

You're just another SHEEPLE who bends over and takes the substandard quality of products today....

The reason why they look like that is so they look homeade.
My brother works there as a mechanic there.

What the hell? So they shape them like that deliberately? They already taste terrible enough without the odd mini shape to deal with.

I love the onion ones. I keep them in the fridge so they are not frozen. My only problem is that they dont know how to cut them. When you open them to put the cream cheese on, one side is super thin. Please fix it.

I like the ones that are uneven because you get one crispy half and one chewy half. Best of both worlds in one bagel.

First of all, that’s what happens when you get frozen bagels. It doesn’t matter who would make them, it would be a pain to separate the two halves unless they completely separate them, freeze them, and then put them in the bag. Then you wouldn’t get the matching top and bottom and would have make a video to complain about that too. Maybe you can’t get them where you’re at but Lenders also makes refrigerated bagels. They are smaller than most but they’re also not as expensive as most. I’m going to say they are smaller because not everyone wants half a loaf of bread for a bagel. So if one isn’t enough, you can have two. I do prefer Tomas bagels over Lenders but Lenders does better in the refrigerator than Thomas and so they last longer if you can’t or just don’t finish a bag of bagels in about 10 days. I know this video is about 3 years old but if you can’t find a good bagel where you’re at, you can order just about any brand online

I buy the Thomas's bagels, and when I get home I open the bag and I separate them all then put them back in the bag and refreeze them that way they come apart much easier. I love the onion bagels also from lenders, I just wish they were more consistent with the sizes, sometimes when you toast them they come out almost like thin toast.

It appears that a lot has changed at the Matoon plant since Kraft sold it. Kelloggs owned it briefly then sold to a start of pirates companies that gut the quality for profits. I seen the process what it was. The forming has changed. Looking at the bottom you can see the texture is different than what it was originally. Flash Freezing is not incorporated. Matoon had the world's largest freezer. Flash Freezing retained the freshness of the bagel. Refrigerated bagels are not fresh tasting. They suck is correct! So basically making them faster and omitting Freezing is the reason they suck. Thank you. 😊

Wow, thanks a lot. I didn't do any research, but I remember as a kid or even a teenager so, in the '80s, lender bagels were actually pretty good.
I now buy bagels that are fresh or Thomas's that come in bags, then I separate them, and then put them in the bag in a freeze them.
Thanks for the details though, it's very interesting.

i was a mechanic on second and third shift when we made them in ct .it was sold to kraft and they made the new plant .when we made them on the Thomson machine .they where more of the same size .we also made the mini bagels,on the same type of machine .and after the cooling for about 20 min it went to the slicer .it has to be the same size to get the 1/8 inch slice .the rails on the slicer belt was set for the size .to big .it backed up. the slicer operator job was to keep it clear .now it is probably done to look like its hand made and not being the same size the slice will not be right .i no longer eat lenders bagels, i now buy Thompsons bagles they are made like the old lenders but not frozen sad to see the best bagles made are in such sad shape.they are not even sold at many stores now.

Does not matter...I did, wrote company, with same complaint...the pre slice is so bad, the top is super thin, breaks easily then, and the bottom, thick, Not all the way through, and so you cannot put the thin top piece in toaster, unless a flat toaster. COMPANY DID NOTHING, never acknowledged my comment/complaint. Lenders has gone downhill.....I agree with Mechanic....100%. Going to go with Thomas'. Lenders are too doughy now too.

Lender's bagels suck soooo bad. I made the mistake of buying them on a dare to try whim....I regretted it and had no choice but too ruin my wonderful cream cheese on the doughy, shrunken, compressed concoction. With one bite I was angry- this was nothing more than compressed, tasteless white bread, shoved together with a almost kinda hole in the middle. It was lifeless of flavor, and mishapen like someone forgot the correct diameter of a bagel. I'll never make that mistake again. They are the cheapest bagels in the store for a darn good reason🤮. I'll stick to Thomas bagels from now on.

They really do suck. I buy them because they are the only onion bagels I can find. But I hate myself for it, because they are pathetic and make me feel the same. I think they used to be a lot better. Booooo
