Ed 😍
Ed gave his dad the ultimate tribute.
I am so glad someone with such class and enthusiasm smashed it.
I'd love to see him drive that Gurney Impala next year.
I really enjoy your streams.
class, class, class
Ed's Impala has driven at Goodwood before. But it is in road car spec, so would not be ready to race.
This. This is why we race.
Absolutely tearing up right now. Bloody marvellous result.
This really has to be in the Top 10 Racing Stories!!!.....
Men and their Machines!!
Damn…one of the most emotional finishes I've ever seen. And some of the best racing (again).
this was amazing race to watch live, and the most memorable one
Ed is exactly what the MG community is all about... most of us are grassroots racers and we all love seeing one of us on top of the podium! Well done Ed and team!
@40.00 big smile and tears rolling down the cheeks, and that was me. A brilliant race to watch. Thanks.
Well, that's twice now that I've watched this race...Awesome and so deserved. What a beautiful tribute to his father. Well done sir 👏
So much fun, such great sport!!! Love the Goodwood tradition!! Cheers !!
You’re the man, Ed! Tremendous race, you held it all together for that win, not an easy task by any means. Loved the post race interview too, much respect! 👍🏼
Would he have won if Mark's car hadn't broken??
Holy Wholesome, my stony heart is melting!
2022 is the 60th anniversary of the evergreen MGB so a lovely way to celebrate.
a geat race by Ed Foster never met him probaly never will but I was yellnig for him at my old desk top here in CHCH NEW ZEALAND CONGRATULATIONS MATE
Thanks John! Come to Goodwood and we’ll have a pint!
@@edfoster1447 HUGE congratulations to you, Ed. 👏😊 Starting on the front row was impressive enough… Then, keeping your cool after the restart, holding things together throughout the race & pressing on for THE WIN was the stuff of dreams… something that your infectiously EXUBERANT reaction, upon crossing the line, demonstrated so well!
⚡️✊🥳⚡️ That was simply one of THE BEST & most heartwarmingly honest reactions to winning a race, that I’ve ever seen… “Head & shoulders” above any other. But then, you’re used to being “head & shoulders” above everyone else! 😉 Speaking of which, my Stepson is 6’ 4” & was trying to buy a classic MGB a Month or two ago, but was finding it too tight a squeeze to fit his knees under the Steering Wheel... Could I please ask what adjustments were made for you in the cabin, to accommodate your height? Many Thanks & Sincere Congratulations to you, once again. ~ LOUIS C.
@@the5thmusketeer215 Thank you for the kind words. The win was very unexpected...! The best bet when you're tall in an MGB is to make sure the seat is pretty much on the floor, and then the key one is to go for a slightly smaller steering wheel. Too small and it's a nightmare to turn at low speeds, but you don't want one of those huge ones some of them have!
@@edfoster1447 Thank you Ed; much appreciated. I’ll pass that on to my Stepson.
We might even make it to Goodwood for the first time, next year. Have been wanting to attend for ages but something always gets in the way. 😣 Hopefully, next year, we’ll finally get there… 🤞😐 In the meantime, I’ll have to content myself with watching all of the splendid coverage on Channels like this. All the Best & Take Care ~ LOUIS C.
Thank you very much. What a race!
@Goodwood Road & Racing...
You could've just named this "A win for our very own Ed Foster", but you named it "Utter chaos".
I watched the livestream as you may have known, and that race is easily one of the best of the weekend for me. The rest of the commentating team ribbed him mercilessly when he made a mess of the first start. At the restart, the whole live chat rose in unison, cheering Ed Foster on. And when Mark Cole in the yellow MG B retired the commentators' reaction to Ed leading is priceless (35:35: "Oh my goodness. You can't write this nonsense...")... so does the whole live chat's reaction (I remember we all went wild for that last 3 minutes, urging Ed on to the finish), and eventually, Ed's reaction after winning the race. Simply priceless, I remember grinning and laughing that time...
THAT is a happy guy!
Well done Ed, fantastic.
Great race, utterly memorable x
Superb race !
That many mgbs all still running that hard at the same time is amazing
I first thought you were making a joke. 'That many mgbs all still running' 😉 BTW, I own one as well. 👍
@@redbarchetta8782 Sort of a double entendre there. That way its funnier more than offensive while expressing both thoughts that came to my mind. Spent many disappointing days as a kid waiting for Dad to get his '64 running so we could go for a ride. Usually because the exhaust ripped off the weekend prior. The car was only 6 or 7yo then. Older than I was so I always gave it some slack.
Because of the amateurish start and first lap cockups, the best part of the MGB race coverage was the farming coverage 🐖🐄🤠✌️👍🏁🇺🇲
The eventual winner outcome was emotionally satisfying ✌️
Brilliant drive No.75 Matt Walton
Super cool to watch. I have two MGBs but qouldnt ever dare do what these guys do with theirs. I did actually race another B on our local freeway once upon a time and did pull slightly ahead, but it was my '64 against a '77. We both topped out above 105 if I recall.
Awesome finish!
That Ed chap !! What a lucky Billy !!
Couldn't find gears ! Coursed the first crash / pile up , then gifted second at the start.. should have started in position from the safety car ! Then branded a hero .. !! Where was the interview with the race leader Mark Cole ?? .. he was the talent !
Couldn't agree more, and the commentators obviously think he's a hero too. Don't understand why??? Mark Cole deserved to win!
Exactly. When he was in the front row on the second start I just thought that's not right.
Ed, sometimes great things just happen. Well done mate!
Fantastic commentary.
Would have loved to race my beloved MGB named E/P eeep with you.
Fyi. Loop 1544 in sweetwater, texas there is a blue TR4 beside a house. Sat for years
26:45 I don't know what the commentators looked at while talking: In fact, no. 9 was overtaking and had already occupied the racing line, what no. 67 either didn't recognise or didn't accept. So no. 67 pushed no. 9 from the track towards the grass. No. 9 even seems to slow down in order to avoid a collision. No. 67 isn't the innocent party here at all...
Goodwood has stricter rules about overtaking - gentleman’s racing. Maybe something to do with that?
@@danielpeters9125 Stirling Moss was asked whether Goodwood was just "gentlemen racing" once and he replied: "Absolutely not, because I am not a gentleman!" There is no quarter given!
Great race
20:02 let's film this guy's toilet break.
Well worth the dieting Ed. 👍
As an American, hopefully I will be less confused with all of those weird fasteners. 🇺🇲 🇬🇧🏁
You mean the metric system that virtually every country in the world uses because its massively superior? You lot have a chasm of learning to fill... 🤣
@@procatprocat9647 Yes. But Freedom. 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Yes. But freedumb. Procat is a dickweed but he's not wrong. For such a country, we rate rather poorly in education.
@@procatprocat9647 Don't want it, don't need it. My BGT doesn't.
Complete race on-boards please . .
Great Racing..Clean..😍
That was a cool race
The one thing that hurts the most is when these old race cars get in a tangle . But I guess thats the chance you take in vintage racing...I've seen GT 40s and real collectors cars get in wrecks ...you need pretty deep pockets to race at Goodwood 😂😊
23:30
2nd start
Pretty disappointing that the front runners were out .. much quicker!
Mark Cole was clearly much faster!
O well luck does win races!
I bet Ed doesn't throw his lucky pants in the bin now 😀
I certainly haven't!
So what is the orange / amber lamp on the front of the winning car's roof for?
We had it for the Spa Six Hours so that we could tell which car was ours when it went past the pits in the dark!
@@edfoster1447 Congrats to ya, mang!
That "WSM" coupe is great. Can't imagine risking that in this mess. Was WSM the coachbuilder?
I wish they showed the rest of the field more in these races.
THESE RACES ARE FANTASTIC!!! THIS IS THE 3rd PNE I WATCHED...THE 1st WAS WON BY THE 64 527 FORD GALAXY....WOW...IMPRESSIVE HOW THE ALFA KEPT UP...DANG...I WAS ROOTING FOR SO MANY...I LIVE MINI COOPS...BUT LOVE TGE FORD CORTINAS...A GIRLFRIEND HAD ONE SHE LET ME DRIVE ALOT...GREAT CAR TOO...
7:50 are you ok?
He's got a way with words.
Is this somewhat related to a 'smash-up' derby?🙃
Is this just for MGB roadsters or GTs too?
What sort of speed are these guys doing at full chat? Looks quick. Great racing.
Think they average just over 90mph per lap
Somebody is unfortunately going to have some expensive repair bills .Great racing from the restart though
Gotta keep your wheels on !
You have just displayed the union flag upside down.
3:55 Nascar moment
Why Maniacs?? A great race, though that first start was chaotic. Why didn't the third-placed driver stop for his laurels??
Why is it that all the cars are only MGB, and not even one MGB GT ? Are the gt's in an other class?
Because it was a race for MGBs.
7.51 😂😂😂
🏁🏁🏁🏁👏👏👏👏
enter them in the BTCC!
Despite the dark blue car starting all this by deliberately ramming the white car and then the dark blue car being rammed itself on purpose by the light blue car, nothing at all was said about them, strange indeed.
Spoiler Alert: The MGB won.
what sort of BHP are these MGB,s
Approx 140bhp these days.
I love how, race after race, the old geezer holding up the "5 Sec" sign doesn't show the slightest interest in actually seeing the start of the race. A paragon of indifference.
Get it in gear Man
I did try!
👍
He was on his cell phone.
Zero to hero
All these and no MGB GTs? Why is that?
The GT came in later and the cars were all pre 1966!
@@edfoster1447 AH! Well that certainly explains that. Thank you very muchly!!!
Seems like this is what the British call "banger racing". Doesn't seem like "English gentlemen" type driving! 😁
Poggg
I suppose in racing you take whatever luck comes your way but surely when three of the four front cars break down , your car is clearly faster than the fifth place and the car in 6th has an off which slows all the pursuing pack down it becomes a little bit of a pyrrhic victory. That plus all the damage has left me confused about the whole thing. Why would you move someone up from 20th place to the front row because of a red flag? What happened to race order after the first start? Wouldn’t you black flag a car with a tyre rubbing on a wheel and they start from the pit lane? How about one whose bonnet catch has failed??
To be fair David, I only dropped to 10th rather than 20th! It was classed as a start line accident so the race had to be restarted. I’ve had enough bad luck in my career to take this one without any bad feelings!
I hope the MG-B WINS....LOL..NO, I am an ex-Triumph owner....
Your British flag, in the background of your grid positions, was upside down!! There are a LOT of very silly English who don't know how to mount a flag. An upside down flag is a sign of International Distress! Maybe very apt following Brexshite?
They speak too much
I'm sorry we didn't get to see the end for 3rd and a failure to give us viewer's the end run down. Way too much accolades to the champ. All to often the "booth" people aren't thinking about the viewer's. what is the need, purpose in watching the winner cheering himself when there's a battle for 3rd? On the last lap?! Could have been a battle for 2nd for all we know!!! While I'm bitchin...Similarly , just before what looks like a pass, the people in the booth break away to the pit just to look at someone? I said bitchin, so you won't have too!
Are you sure these 🤡s have a driving licence between them ??? !!!
You should come and give it a go yourself! Fancy a run in the MGB?
Nice try. Just because whatever incidents and crashes happened in the race, doesn't mean the drivers were clowns... If any, judging by how you think of them, they were better drivers than you...
Drivers who can’t get their car off the line, except if there is a major mechanical failure, shouldn’t be allowed to compete. Why should other teams have to pay to repair their cars because some fool can’t hack it?
Bit harsh....It happens to the best....🙂
It's racing . Get over it
Oh so sorry Mr Perfect, how many races have you competed in?
What absolute bullshit. Even F1 drivers get the start wrong. Lando at Monza for example.
Just a bunch of toffs. They swapped horses for horsepower and paid to have some fun.
Move along now...
Great race
