    5:29 Those wheels are so trippy! I thought they were still spinning high rpm until the car came to a complete stop.
    Love seeing all these classic cars being treated how they were built to be and not stuck in some stuffy old garage somewhere because someone thinks it's an asset.

    Boy does this footage bring back memories. In 1964 I bought a 1960 MGA Twin Cam race car after the team who owned it blew the engine at Thompson Raceway. The car was totally set up,for racing and had never been used on the highway so it was equipped with an almost new set of oversized Goodyear Bluestreak racing tires. As these tires were only designed to be used in the dry should have replaced them but they were so good in the dry I kept them. First time I got caught out in the rain I was navigating a rotary at about 65 mph and found myself spinning in endless circles! These poor guys found themselves in similar circumstances!

    I can't tell you how wonderful it is to see pieces of art going around the road at speed and being competitive, but also can't tell you how hard it is to watch a jaguar or an SC go into the wall at speed even if it is a padded wall.
    It's almost like the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat every 20 seconds!!!!!🤗🤯☠

      @the5thmusketeer215 Před 4 lety +4

      Very well put, and I totally agree. We all want to see these cars being raced in a spirited and competitive manner - it’s what they were designed and constructed to do - but, at the same time, we want them to look pristine and retain their elegant lines and classic beauty.
      But those two desires are really antithetical to one another, which is why so many such cars end up as pampered, soulless Garage Queens, in the same way that some parents won’t allow their children to engage in exuberant outdoor play, “because they’ll only hurt themselves...”
      🗣🤕🙁😢😔

      These cars are well looked after and will always see the repair they require if damaged. When the Jag hit the wall, yes there weas concern for the car, but I was wondering about the driver, it's not like new cars that can take a walloping. All seemed ok though. But agreed, wonderful to see these machines 'living' as they were intended.

      I've done it, and it is something I would usually try to avoid; it's bloody difficult to even see with spray defeating your wipers, and your braking marks moving in and out as the track dries or gets wetter; racing being what it is, if you feel your wheels let go under braking, it's usually too late to avoid an off.

    All the comments about lack of skill, being an ex racing driver myself I doubt any of you could do any better, these cars aren’t the easiest things to drive quickly in the dry let alone the wet greasy conditions of castle Combe, yes some are what are called gentleman races who are just doing it because of there love and passion for motorsport, so there is no need to go throwing insults around, especially when half of you could only dream of having the skill to race a car competitively

    Often these sudden spins are because wheels are not aligned (they might go off because suspension is malfunctioning), or chasis suffered from previous impacts and rear wheels are not perfectly diagonaly aligned with front wheels and this causes spins. You can notice that most of the cars go OK, and that some cars even spin on straights. Those that spin on straights have issues with wheel alignment for sure.

    Incase you’re salty about their driving, just remember that most of these individuals suffer from the same issue that 90% of you do. It’s called “driving aid”. None of these vehicles have ABS, traction control, power steering, (maybe) power brakes, and modern tires. Just like you, they’re used to the car helping them keep itself on the road. Most of you can barely drive on a damp road in your 2000+ daily at the speed limit, let alone hold it together in the bends during a torrential downpour in a 1950’s-1960’s period correct race car. Yeah, these guys are looking clumsy, but I’m completely positive that you’d have the toy wrecked within the first lap. Until you’ve mastered driving with the same circumstances, you’ve still yet to lose your training wheels.
