So, you don't need 500 miles to have an exciting race? This was fantastic.
Or even 800 kilometres, eh?
It's much better to see the full races rather than snippets.
fabulous drive by Olivier Hart in the Alfa GTA !
Superb skills behind the wheel. He pushed that Alfa to the absolute limit!
Fantastic driving by all but you have to give it to Olivier Hart for his superb efforts in the glorious Alfa Sprint GTA. Such a gorgeous and superb handling car.
He didn't make the chicane so he deserves third place. I think one more lap & the Ford's drum brakes won't have kept the GTA at bay.
@@carmiethompson2676 ...but he couldn't make the chicane as alongside there was a sliding giant roadsweeper
ushering him off the circuit. Forza Alfa!
Galaxies are superb to watch, but that Alpha and driver were the most truly well paired human/machine on the track. Pure confidence and brute force attacks, in straights and corners. Carmie- rules are rules, and rules are made to accommodate the mannerisms of all vehicles, just like we do in society, with all people...Big fat obnoxious American cars have equal rights. I am doing my part to build another, although it will not be for racing, but more of a tribute to it's entertainment value
@@email4664 I had no question about the rules. If a driver isn't on the track, said driver can't hold a higher position. That is what Mr. Hart did. He didn't let up, was on the grass & not qualified for the 2nd place position. But like I was asking Mr. McRae, I tried to find the 'part 2' race results & couldn't find any. Only found the results for part 1. I wonder what happened?
@@carmiethompson2676
From the Goodwood site:
1 Shepherd
2 Hart
3 Fisken
The marshalls will have looked at it I'm sure- even the commentators were not clear how this would be ruled. Thing is
there is more than one rule comes into play in this scenario- sure, there is the 'gaining unfair advantage' from missing out the chicane. Hard to ignore the 'fully alongside' rule though. Hart was on the grass because he had been deprived of the ability to stay on track due to the fat Ford consuming all of the track width- ie not making any allowance for the Giulia by staying on the power and drifting ever wider. The Alfa's had established through both races that they could take that wide line but stay within track limits and take the chicane...
Suppose it was judged that the final track positions reflected a fairer outcome than swapping 2 and 3.
Don't mess with the Alfas. That should be the number one rule for the Galaxies. The St Marys Trophy, what an excellent event.
you pathetic hater🖕
@@351clevelandmodifiedmotor4 I'm pretty sure you have totally misinterpreted what I said. I enjoy the banter between big and little cars. One without the other would not be as interesting.✌
Great performance from the tiny Alfa again. David vs Goliath.
And, that Alfa sounded glorious, on song, as they say in the UK.
But in reality David had the advantage 🤣
Better the Goodwood Wrecker than the ambulance. Excellent racing and production. Thanks to you all.
Superb three days of racing and thank you so much to Goodwood whose very name anywhere on YT is a magnet and a thumbs up. Loved the shot of the BigGalaxy (it's always going to be one word now after this) pulling up to the camera after the win with 1962 Michigan plate on the front bumper. It is in amazing shape for a 60-year old licence plate! Got its share of TLC as well obviously.
Fabulous racing and a massive Thank You to Goodwood Road & Racing, your stuff is always top-notch.
Cheers from Ottawa, Ontario.
As a Ford enthusiast great to see the Galaxie win. I remember them when they came over in the early 1960s and remember seeing them racing at Silverstone the European cars screamed their way round but you could hear those big Galaxies just rumble their way round seemingly unstressed. Great days along with the Ford Falcon Sprints, Mustangs and Chevrolet Camaros.
What's up with the red Galaxie crashing into the Lotus and spinning it out??? Seemed like a real dickweed move.
He didn't get penalized or anything?
Anyone can beat a 1600 CC 4 cylinder car in a 7000 CC V8.
@@UberLummox Each driver takes their own risks, and the Alpha driver knew the bigger Ford would have more slide in the curve, but he shot for it anyhow- That is stone cold confidence, and knowing the absolute sheer limit of one's car. Both driver's were RACING the heck out of the cars they drove, and the Ford had no way of going anywhere other than where it went- Pure momentum, post-apex. It happens. The physics of it, as well as the clear Gentelmen's nature of this NON-American form of racing, force one to just assume that these two drivers had a convivial laugh over the matter once the cameras were put away.
The fact that no penalty was given means that the experts weighed all of the details, and observations, and made their decision. Are you one of those sad Americans that doubt every electoral decision? Hope not...
@@hendrikdebruin4012 You do realize this track has tight corners?

Random search got me in here ,what a wonderful collection of great drivers and cars .
The #92 Galaxie was just in a league of its own all weekend. It pulled away so quickly, very impressive!
It would be really spicy if some Japanese cars were in this as well, Datsun 1600's, 1200's & 240z's as well as Mazda rx3's and rx2's
like an elephant in a china shop.
@@brenden8783 The cutoff date for participation at the Revival is 1966, as that was the last year Goodwood was an official race circuit.
Thank you. I was wondering about this.
Another great display of driving and spirit . Gripping race . 👍🇬🇧
Love the videos! You put so much time and work into them and they make my day better
Eeeee! I was wondering where part 2 was! Thank you!
Amazing how evenly matched the european and american cars are
Other than the red Galaxy being so on the edge it forced two cars off the track to keep a place so it could drag race down the straight. In a longer race the Galaxy would be toast on tires.
Love those Alfa Romeo's! Well Done Mr. Hart
Excellent race with fabulous drivers...
David vs Goliath battle, huge save from the Alfa, sometimes the agility wins!
These Ford Galaxies are just glorious and what a sound they make!
Yes, and for me was Galaxies 1st and 2nd. Then an Alfa at 3rd, but that was a camaraderie event, not a real competition...
On the 63, the emblem on the grill is the hood release.
Imagine a full grid of 35 to 40 of these 7 liter cars going by at 180 mph. That's what made NASCAR so popular in the US, with Chevrolet, Plymouth, Mercury, Pontiac, Dodge, all making competitors for the Ford. It was like a category 2 earthquake, in the grandstands, when the green flag came out!
@@richsackett3423 (Bonnet release), for our British friends, who allow this to happen, for us to see.
@@ramblerdave1339 Chevy was in this class, but got banned for being too fast.
Thanks for killing the end bro!👍
Dam when Alfas were still Alfas. Miss those days but love these commemorative events..
You are right.
Unbearable that an excellent car theoretically born for the track like the current Giulia Gta is never seen on the track
I suspect the more modern brakes on the Galaxie are significantly better than the original brakes in period.
Suspect the spec of the Cortinas is better now as well, after Sir John Whitmore won the ETC in 1965 in a Cortina, he was usually beaten by the Alfas the following year, Jochen Rindt pedalled an Alfa in period.
THANK YOU for uploading this!! what a GREAT fun race to watch!!
That #92 Galaxie always amazes me. Hardly anything can match the power of an American big block V8 from the golden era.
I love the way Alfa Romeo chases the opponent !
always so much intensity with which Alfa puts pressure

Very big gazelle in this case 😂

First two cars at the start, lotus cortina, Galaxy 500 I've owned both back in the day!!
that thumbnail, one of the best looking rears I've ever seen
Can we do it all again this weekend?
that is so mesmerizing to watch. big v8 power against small euro cornering sports cars. perfect!
Think about how hard the drivers would fight for position when they were new cars and not $1 million pieces of art
Forza Alfa Romeo🍀
Nice Cars Great Racing And Ford For The Win!
Mr. Hart is the man!!
he cheated and he needs a safety car or he gets left in the dust of the FORD galaxy
Duncan did well in the barracuda on Sunday!
And, in America, the Barracuda, based on the COMPACT Plymouth Valiant, was one of smallest, of American race cars!
@@ramblerdave1339 The announcer called it a "big heavy car". It's the same size as a Falcon.
I just wish they showed the damn thing racing!
@@UberLummox That's what I was implying, because of what the Announcer said. 😎
@@UberLummox I too was disappointed that we didn't see the Barracuda at all. Surely there was some interesting place-fighting in the rear of the pack also?

Did Shepherd bog down at the start?
In the SCCA, the overtaking driver, is responsible for the safety of the pass. Don't know the rule in the UK. Rule bit me a couple times, being the overtaking driver most of the time. 😉

Great racing!! Gentlemen? Not so much!!
FORZA ALFA ROMEO!

ALFA THE GREAT 👍
Barges among rowboats. Very nice rowboats.
hater, keep watching these so called row boats destroy most of the competition Alfa's get smoked most of the time
Let's talk about the difference in engine between Ford and Alfa - 5800cc vs 1300 cc !
The Galaxies are 7000. The Alfas are 1600.
By the time the mk1 lotus cortina had just about reached its full development..the alfa had caught up in the homologation game..better suspension..15" wheels..very lightweight body...=.fast....
Absolute gorgeous race
very race :)
I seem to recall (back in the day) that lotus cortinas were a lot lower in the rear end and thus where nowhere as twitchy as the red and blue cars have been this weekend.

"Don't hit the wall, don't hit the wall, don't hit, damn"

Sad about the safety car taking so long again, but a great race otherwise!
Fab coverage and racing as usual but PLEASE stop the usual repetitive comments about the "big" American cars, the Barracuda for example is actually smaller than a current Mondeo (and considerably lighter than certain megalomaniac produced ugly EVs...)
It's a boat in comparison to the Lotus and Alfa
Two big falcons with huge front bars that just push the comparatively small Cortinas and Alfas aside. The Fords aren't just fast, they're also armoured ! Amazing racing. Makes me proud to own a period Alfa!
Beauty made sport
It's not fair how the big bad Galaxie beats up on those little European jobs.
maybe Goodwood should invest in a speedier towtruck so we can watch more racing!

I’m sure I can carry my Opel Corsa on the back of that Galaxie
And, it wouldn't slow it down much!
You're actually not wrong. It literally could be done! They have almost the capacity as a 1/2-ton truck.
@@UberLummox They have to be, with room to seat 6, 200 pound Americans. That's 1200 pounds, and that's if they have no luggage! Which they won't, if they're just going out to get burgers. 🤣👍

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GREAT STUDEBAKER LARKS
Sorry number 59?
Italians do it better ❤️
A Plymouth Barracuda is big? Since when?
Since it started competing against the Cooper S
The Plymouth Barracuda is big when it's in a race with cars which are all smaller (other than the Galaxie). The word also acknowledges "big" engine capacity in comparison to the British and European models of that era i.e. the ones it's racing against.
Now what is a Valliant Barracuda then 🤔🤔🤔
Where are all of the Sunbeams?
He nudged the Alfa out
Am I the only one who thinks the red Galaxie shoulda been penalized heavily for crashing into the Lotus Ford???
Seemed like a real dickweed move.

@studiocalder818 Nun drei ☝️
Folks in the UK drove 428ci Ford Galaxies?
G.J.M.
Oi...
A 66 barracuda is not exactly what I would call a hefty device (compared to a galaxie) the barracuda is a compact.
Any idea what it was powered by? 273 V8 or slant 6
@@hillbillysportsman5818 the barracuda in this race ? I dont know for sure 'but 273 I'd say..
I wonder what the rules are for engine size, presuming the Barracuda has an LAV8, there could be a lot of displacement put into it if the rules permit.
@@furyfantoo I'm pretty sure that class of racing requires the cars to have the same equipment they raced with in the 60's(except for radial tyres 'I would imagine). That barracuda will be a 273' probably with formula s spec's 'four barrel carb' four speed box' standard brakes ' I believe the formula s came with disc's on the front as did the 1966 valiant v8 that we had in Australia and New Zealand.
@@barrycuda3769 The little 273 could certainly be improved over the Formula S specs with some modern parts, but you are probably right that they must be period-correct. Would've like to see the 'big' Barracuda have a better showing, but there's no way to know if was due to the car or the driver.
With no lapped riders at the end there was no leader excitement for this second race
Owned 2 Alfa gt's. You DON'T need 800 hp.
Fe ford block don't have a breather tube like pin boms,
sad way for the alfa's to get any where, need safety cars and taking short cuts, he put himself on the outside and the galaxy was committed it wasn't like the Galaxy can just slide inwards against momentum
When you compete against enormous horsepower and speed straight away, you better be on your game in the twisties if there is hope of gaining the checkered flag. Except, there is no chance of passing in the twisties…!
The Alfa would have to give the second place back to the Ford Galaxie. Didn't make the chicane and went around it. Leaving the track is a big no no and cannot advance a position doing so or all racers would ignore track limits.
He got pushed off the track
@@oldlud8971 No, not deliberately.
Yes, The red Galaxie should get 2nd. place; The Alfa was taking a big risk in trying to pass him on the outside and ran out of track.
@@raywest3834 Yeah but did you see how he NAILED that little Lotus Ford in the front fender knocking it in a circle? That was really fuct up.
Alfa la più bella la più veloce
there should be a penalty , the alfa should not get the second place it didn't follow the course.
American car almost always win these races.
At 8:05 had this been nascar they would have yellow flagged the race had the drivers make 9 laps before resuming the race. Which is why nascar is now unwatchable.
The Big "BOAT" won..FORD..As in Cortina..
The galaxys are too big. They shouldn't be in this race
Yes they should. Its period correct
The red Galaxy should have got second. Bad call by the officials or no call I don't know which.

Could be wrong, but wow that looked fuct.
I wish there was a way to mute the commentators.
I agree, you would think you at the horse races!!
great stuff...great racing in great REAL cars.....😀
but suggestion......take away the big american cars into a class of their own......that should be interesting, when all on the grid have the same "muscle".....
and a "fair" race for the european/british cars.....i'd like that.......😀
That wouldn't be commensurate with history. The whole point is THESE cars raced each other back then. It is a fair race, and back in the day, the Fords mostly lost because they're just not nimble enough.
@@46wireboy Agreed, the fact that they stay neck-and neck is more that this track has no slow handling sections; it's pretty much wide open the whole way around which favours the big-HP cars.
No way that Galaxie could have turned in any further without spinning out. The alfa got greedy, the alfa got 3rd, IMO.
One too many double-negatives there but I think we know what you mean ;)
Naw the Galaxy needs to give racing room. The Alfa had the right to be there.
It's a tough call- it could be argued that the Galaxies are the greedy ones: track gobblers taking up all of the circuit to maintain position. Best demonstrated in the Mini/ Galaxy duels- jet skis versus motorboats.
Ford is the BIG DADY......jajaja....always WIN
Alfa Giulia sexyest car ever
Fisken Galaxie has to be Disqualifikate the cortina turned around and the alfa nearly lost into the barrier
