Next time get Craig Davies down in his Alan Mann Mustang. He might show the Galaxies a thing or two
Are you going to post Sunday's Final aggregate Race for the St. Mary's trophy?

Sorry but this is a milion times better than current F1 Racing...
It’s fab racing but comparing it to F1 is like comparing it to soapbox racing - they’re worlds apart
@@meanredspider indeed worlds apart. F1 is peak performance, but I don’t find it nearly as entartaining. Laps that are fractions of a second from eachother, mainly about tech and regulations and strategy. Soon f1 is going to be electric cars that drive themselves using AI :) F1 was dope maybe in the V10 era, but not now.
@@meanredspider Yes, these are real cars, not whatever formula 1 became.
Preach! Preach!
Well, exactly. I race a 1969 Alfa Giulia which is, essentially, the same as the 33 car (though a fraction of the price). There’s not a part of that car I can’t repair myself. F1 is a totally different challenge and utterly spectacular for it because it’s a pinnacle of technology and human performance. That’s what, for me, makes F1 entertaining. This was great racing because it’s cars we could all get in and drive and it was fun and we could more easily appreciate it
I agree with all the comments about this racing being massively more entertaining than current F1, but the commentators and their merry style (totally absent in today’s F1) also bring a huge level of fun to the event. Awesome work! 👏🏻
For French speaking people we got a Belgian commentator on the F1TV who's commentating solo most of the time and he has a same style of commentary than what we had here, so it's still nice for us.
they sound like they're having fun instead of obsessing over geeky stats
@@a34rwl well, one of them raced in one of the races in the weekend! Ed Foster, the tall man interviewing the winners, raced an MG B for the all-MG Lavant Cup race.
F1 commentators started living up their own backsides like the rest of F1 did as it became more and more a tech demo, a lot of speculation and hype.
@@mick8473 Soon F1 will be so soulless you won't even hear the engines scream.
All these cars are fantastic, but there's just something about the Guilia Sprint GTA. Timeless design, absolutely gorgeous car
agreed. These cars already had twin overhead cams and twin spark ignition in an aluminium head. (NORD engine) The chassis wasn't very remarkable because it still had a live rear axel. But it's a light car so pretty fast.
The Lotus Cortina was much the same: twin cam, live rear axel.
The car i expected to be much faster is that BMW TISA. That car has a much more modern suspention, McPherson up front and independent trailing arms setup in the back. Just like the first M3 e30.
The 1.8L engine of that TISA has overhead cam in alu head and twin DCOE carbs
I expected that car to be much faster tbh.
@@jfv65 The Alfa has the better suspension design.
The BMWs trailing arm rear suspension allows a lot of inconsistency in the camber and toe settings during its range of motion while the Alfa holds true. The front double wishbone of the Alfa allows much better negative camber gain during cornering among other significant benefits.
The reason BMW used that suspension design and many modern cars do is packaging and cost.
The holy grail ? Or is that the 33 stradale…
This is truly one of the most diverse driver line-ups,we have F1,FE,Le Mans,Indycar,Nascar, BTCC and many others series being represented in this race, The Goodwood Revival truly bringings the racing world togther.
This was actually so entertaining. Not only the absolutely nuts driving skill on display, but the cars, commentators and camerawork were all sublime. 10/10
Now that's what I call racing! Exciting and full on, but total respect for the cars and other drivers. Well done to all concerned. (Love watching those GTAs!)
The drivers know that they are racing in vintage cars.
Better racing than a whole F1 season
spot on
1000% this. F1 is depressingly boring unfortunately.
are you watching old f1 races? since 2021 f1 is being very exciting
That Galaxy made this better than most racing available today, it sounds amazing
@@mlsmith23 If you like processions and Ferrari shooting themselves in the foot.
That Alfa with Stippler on board is epic. What a stunning drive and a stunningly gorgeous car.
Looks like its had a few knocks, lot of re spray on the body
@@10wanderer I'm sure most of them have had knocks and scrapes. I'm talking more about the form, the lines of the car etc.
Hardly gorgeous! You must be thinking of the back-marker that was lapped at the end.
What a fantastic race! battles everywhere! A lot of fun! Thanks gentlemen!
Having that Galaxy rumbling 427ci/500hp with open pipes in front by itself was a special treat for the gallery to experience. Worth the ticket price alone. The most fun to watch were the Mini’s fighting tooth and nail for 25 minutes with no mercy…!
While I love our Aussie 1970s Bathurst Racing,
this is motor racing at its finest in my opinion.
The great variety of cars on a great track, just brilliant!
Thanks to our British mates and all the drivers for putting this on.
Bravo!
Great stuff!
This was just insane, probably the best bit of racing I've seen all year.
I saw this in person - the in corner drifting was epic.
I did too, and I fully agree with you. It was a great race.
Frank Stippler you made my day ! Have been driving Alfas for 30 years , best performance from that era !
As a teenager these were our aces. Still awesome to watch. When privateers used there skills after hours to tune their own daily cars with no budget and compete over weekends. Huge family events. I recall us sneaking to the track when their were no fences, Later climbing those fences as their was no money to pay entrance fees. Thanks for posting.
This racing is brilliant! I can't agree more that this is so much more exciting to watch than any other modern car racing.
That is the very best race I've ever seen. Brilliant driving. The purest racing I've ever seen.
Agreed, and to top it all off, it’s as though my favorite Matchbox cars came to life and started duking it out on the track! The sounds alone are worth the price of admission.
Fantastic racing! My first car was a 66 Ford Lotus Cortina. I wish I had never sold it.
I drove a gt cortina 50 years ago what a car
Is David brabham related to Jack Brabham?
@Laurence W Yes, David is the youngest of Sir Jack's three sons.
@@joebriggs8422 that is so cool Jack was a favorite when I was growing up in Newzealand
At least you Had one!!!!
Fabulous car control by Stippler. Superb match up with the Minis and Cortinas. And great respect between drivers all around. This is serious stuff. Many thanks for the video.
Yeah there's no way you can knock Goodwood revival, it's amazing how hard these guys push these cars, the camera work is getting better every year too, Rj in Oz
Some driver line-up there ! I'm old enough to remember when a similar field at an historic event would have had 2-3 fastish drivers at best. The historic racing scene truly became all what we dreamed it could become. Kinda like the opposite of the internet which in the same interval of time became everything we feared it might become !
Indeed. As someone who has been cheering for Kalle and Craig in WRC, it has been a surprise to see Breen in this race! The magic of seeing amazing NASCAR and WRC drivers side by side, racing vintage tin cans and ACTUALLY FIGHTING ONE ANOTHER is mindblowing!
What.
The Revival has always been a marquee event and in no way is representative of an average historic race.
I miss-read your comment as "2-3 fashist drivers" and thought that was a tad extreme. But nope it was just my smooth brain working against me as usual. 🤔
Actually, the modern historic racing scene had pretty sizeable downsides...
Yes, there were some modern drivers joining in, and some proved to be very quick in them (like Frank Stippler, Tom Kristensen, Kenny Brack, and others). But the quality of the grids deteriorated to some extent...
Ten years ago, you'll see a sizeable contingent of Ferraris, Maseratis, Alfas racing in different races at the Revival, and some even tends to have quick drivers and we're always front runners, giving a nice variety in the racing.
Now most of those cars were gone from the grids. As their prices goes up, most ended up in the hands of people who never race them, let alone use them...
its inspriring to see these veteren pro drivers ,some well into their 60s,still producing world class pace,in this tricky to drive cars.
Most exciting racing in the world.Where else can you see so many superstars behind the wheel..fantastic!
I wish they could race the St Marys Trophy every day of Goodwood. Absolutely my favourite race.
Absolutely splendid. Thank you so much.
I've given up most modern forms of racing for exactly what we've seen here.
Loving that silver Alfa Romeo (33) , fantastic racing all the way through the field
EPIC ALFA STOLE THE SHOW. Excellent!
I've been watching motor racing since 1958 and it's always been the saloons that offer the best spectator value all the way down the years. Seeing Dickie Attwood in this race brings back all sorts of racing memories. I can remember seeing Graham Hill and Roy Salvadori in MK2 Jaguars and the great Jim Clark in a Lotus Cortina. I can remember the advent of the racing Mini Coopers and how they changed everybody's perception of small cars and front wheel drive in racing.
I so appreciate this footage. Thank you Goodwood!
That last lap between the Alfa and the Galaxie was so intense I felt like I needed a cigarette afterwards!
me too - and i dont even smoke...
Fantastic Race. Great to see Jimmy Johnson racing in the Galaxy.
It was amazing race! Better than any current series including F1.
This is "Hands Down "... my favorite time of year!!! GOODWOOD IS BACK!!!🇺🇸🎩🇬🇧🇺🇸🎩🇬🇧
I absolutely love that big old Galaxie. But those little mini's are so awesome. Just like a bunch of little buzzsaws.
I photographed the 63 Galaxie Saturday morning in the paddock because my mate has bought a 65 and wants to paint it up as a NASCAR. What a race, great drivers in beautiful cars. Unforgettable weekend again, thanks Goodwood.
My first car was a 66 Cortina MK1 and it sure didn't drive like those but was a blast to drive. It had a 1.5l 4sp and I bought it for $100 CDN. Loved seeing these older cars battle it out!
Sat and watched with a huge ear-to-ear smile. Proper racing from the days of my youth. Note the number plates. We used to drive the car to the track, race and drive it home again (as long you hadn't pranged it or blown up the engine)
This is my favorite type of racing.
Wow, I'm really chuffed theses guys can get out in such expensive cars, and such close racing, so us mere mortals can enjoy the battles. Excellent.
Wonderful.. thanks for letting us watch.
That‘s RACING! 😮😊
Goodwood never disappoints with its racing. It's a Mecca for petrol heads and has the most entertaining races you could imagine.
would seriously hate to hurt any of these gems. this is a time capsule of automotive engineering, rv
stippler absolutely tossing that alfa around! the character of the old style tires make spectating much more enjoyable than modern racecars
Absolutely fantastic, thrilling show!. Old time cars race, top one drivers, what else could we ask for.
Now, THAT is entertainment!
He isn't on different planet , he is on another Galaxy!
Just outstanding racing. We have so much to be grateful to Goodwood for...
Indeed we do, A single person can make this happen and if he didnt it wouldnt be there for us. Brilliant racing!
Fantastic racing. And these cars sound better than current F1.
Can we just delete the last 30 yrs of racing and go back to this? THIS was amazing. the last 30yrs have been a yawn.
This is fantastic. I'd watch this over Indy car, NASCAR, and f1.
A great video of a fantastic race. I can hardly believe that Galaxy is as fast as it is with it being so big and heavy. I owned a Mk1 GT Cortina in the 70s and it is one of my favourite cars and I almost wish I still had it.
Yeah I’m with you on that. Mk1 lotus cortina. Absolutely brilliant car. Like you I wish I still had mine too.
Spent all day Friday and Saturday there...absolutely top drawer racing.
Thanks for this.
This is one of the most exciting and dramatic road races I've seen in quite a while :)
this is the best race i have seen in years!
Probably the best race I've seen all year! Incredibly fun.
Fantastic. Seeing the Tinies in action again, and yes, the Minis, brought back old memories. All it needs to get me really excited is a couple of old faithful 105Es.
Thank you for the action and the memories.
Romain Dumas in the big American Yank Tank! 427ci of monster power!
It could probably fit 3 or more Minis in the boot and they would only be adding 10% to the mass of that "Yank Tank". Nobody was game to try and overtake it because of the gravity well it creates. I mean surely they would end up stuck to the side and lack the power to achieve escape velocity, and un-stick themselves. Probably why it's called a Ford 'Galaxy'. 🙄
7 litre vs 1.6 litre and the 1.6 almost nicked it,
Magnificent. A pleasure to watch.
Brings back fond memories!
Mixed bag of emotions as to who could/should win.
Great, real Racing.
Them ol' days are best.
I remember reading the entry list before the Revival streams came on, and when I saw that Frank Stippler is driving an Alfa Romeo GTA, I knew that he won't disappoint...
This awesome. When a driver can outdrive the technology. The best of racing!
Those Commentators are soo Gifted, They made the Race very Entertaining
From Tasmania Australia 🦘🇦🇺
That's an awesome list of lads in a great time of engineering and racing ❤️
Lovely watching, can't beat touring car racing.
Brilliant races like absolutely sick 👍👍👍
Thank you!
This race is more exciting than the latest GT car races of today. And the absence of accident and full course yellow flags that spoil the race adds even more fun. Looking forward to watching more races like this.
I still miss my clubman 1275 from 35 years ago ❤️
It was so much fun to watch. Smiling the whole time.
I can only think of one word for this……awesome!
Great racing!
That was great,really great
Fantastic stuff. Those gorgeous Minis were just sublime
Love seeing older cars being used to their fullest and not just sitting in a garage.
Wow, what a great race. The dual between the two Minis was epic.
More exciting than some F1 races. Well done all involved.
That totaly reminds me on the Racingsim GT Legends... where i had the best races in Simracing ever fighting whit this small Cortinas and Alfa against the big v8´s that was the most fun I ever had .... in gaming ;-)
Brilliant, exciting stuff....I'm usually asleep by lap 3 of F1
The mighty mini just makes me smile watching them drifting all the way round
Reminded me of Sir Gerwain Ballie driving a Galaxie at Snetterton in 1959/60 ish. Flat out, windows down and the stereo blasting out heavy rock music. Happy days.
Fabulous racing in all positions. This every time!
Absolutly wonderful mix of cars and drivers. And all those happy tail ends sverving left and right👍👍
Loved it. Beauty in motion. Since day one the UK has saying there better. Since day two we here on the other side of the pond have been proving you're not. The weight to power ratio of that Alfa was very impressive.
we need more of these.... My 1960's sliding windows mini - the memories remain
Great racing as always
Watching that big Galaxie put the boots to those little lighter cars was a thing of beauty.
Possibly the best bit of race footage I've ever seen.
How wonderful was that !!!! such a smile on my face..😁
Would love to see an AMC Penske Matador, 1953 Hudson Hornet with the factory chrome engine block 6 cylinder and an AMX in 1968, 1970 and 1971 run this together
Fantastic photography. The number 8 and 10 mini cars I bet have dents in the floor from the driver trying to push the accelerator through the floor. What a move @ 17:54 by the #66 Cortina. I don’t know why but every time you show those minis, I get a smile on my face. Thanks
Great race. The Minis stole the show.
Cheers 🇨🇦
That was Spectacular Thank You ! A nail biter on the edge of the seat all the Way! From Rick Armstrong Aurora Ontario Canada
this race is why I love goodwood racing so much dooor to door and not a drop of paint exchanged fab !!!
Great video of cars of my day. My favourite is the MK1 Cortina’s, had three in my life, a Cooper S also. Would love to have seen a Triumph Vitesse. Very mismatched engine size but an edge of the seat experience. AWESOME 👏🏻 👍
Epic race. Loved every second of it.
Thanks for upload,brilliant!
Those american cars looks huge, awesome race!
This is better and more enjoyable racing then any modern day stuff.
Superb. Absolutely superb.
Excellent racing!
VERY entertaining! Awesome cars with great drivers, and close but clean racing.
