- The S.F. Edge Trophy is by far the weirdest and arguably most wonderful race at the 81st Members’ Meeting. It’s certainly not the fastest but there’s no two ways about it, it is absolutely crackers. In this video BMtv is following Julian Grimwade with his 1913 Oakland Romano Demon Special. He acquired the car at the beginning of 2024 and this is his first event with it.
What is the S.F. Edge Trophy?
It’s named after Selwyn Francis Edge, a British businessman who made his name as a successful bicycle racer as a teenager before going on to co-found the De Dion-Bouton import company and later the Motor Vehicle Company, a tuner of sorts for Panhards, Napiers and Gladiators. He raced many of these cars through the early 1900s, and the S.F. Edge Trophy rekindles that earliest era of motor racing.
The race has evolved over the years, and this year the S.F. Edge Trophy will return for the 81st Members’ Meeting in its two-race format, each five laps in length, one on Saturday and one on Sunday, with the two results combined to reveal an overall winner.

Brilliant vehicles....such passion and devotion...to maintain them.
Always a pleasure to what, hear and learn...
Thanks for your time in putting this video up.

To all those involved , A big thanks for the great entertainment , wish I could be there. Cheers from New Zealand
Wonderful! My face hurts from 47 minutes of inane smiling and chuckling!
The onboard music was perfect M8!😎
I am so glad to have worked on that Romano while at Tip Top Engineering. I wish Julian all the best.

Very impressive lineup of cars--real dedication here
Amazing video
Great cars a joy to watch
Thanks to everyone😊😊😊👌🤓
Such incredible cars. I hope to join them next year with my 1928 Morgan restomod. I am starting a channel called machines and motors and I have been assembling a m machine shop to make all the parts for the cars I will be restoring..
I'm not hi tech with the digital age and all that stuff, but i think it would be absolutely great to see an interview by Steve Parrish with one of the great all time heroes of mine Dave Croxford. So many stories, so many anecdotes from a true champion bike rider. It would be a crime to miss that opportunity. What else can i say?
Thanks
I would like to have each of this great old cars, but the coolest and wildest one is the Darracq.
Are those that have but a Full Loss oiling systems, allowed to utilize the track there ?
the guy being interviewed, should tell all, new people, car buyers,, what he said, know your car, every nut & bolt..not wait till the engine lite comes on then buy a new one.. why cars have hoods these days,, i dont know..
Oh !!! At best the owners here can afford to pay 10000000 for a bracket , wondering if they say thank you for doing so !!! No proberly not .... more like thank you surf ....peasant ....
