I loved this part the most with it’s fast turns and super sonic effects. But now after I replayed it I have to admit it has some big design flaws. There are many places on the tracks that will make your bike turn around 180° with the slightest hit. At many points you cannot avoid hitting the ceiling of a tunnel and even that can turn you around, too. And there are some serious FPS drops on the N64 version. But still it was super fun back then trying to beat some trackrecords. On some tracks it was even possible to keep the speed over the sonic barrier for the whole round!
Again there are some super bikes and again you can only unlock new modes by NOT using them. But since I wasn’t going to play those extra modes I still used super bikes for the Meltdown leagues. There is also a Dual mode and a Mirror mode but both modes don’t add anything new to the game besides some developer faces on your drivers as a reward…
From the extra game codes you can unlock I was really surprised about the Wipeout code. This code does not only change your bike into a flying Wipeout-like vehicle, it also changes the controls accordingly so it really feels like Wipeout. The Tron mode is also very nice..

I wouldn’t mind if they brought this back for newer consoles, adding online play would be awesome! “Rear firing rockets” 😂👍🏼
FACTS!!!
The most underrated racing game on N64
The few things I loved about this game:
Sensara, Skyline Drop
Aquanor theme
Tethra theme
Hydra Prime theme
Eschaton theme
Breaking the sound barrier
The superbike engine sounds
XXX, XCHARGE, NEUTRON, 2064

Acclaim: Let's make a high-speed racing game in the same vein as Wipeout and F-Zero.
Also Acclaim: Let's not prioritize a high, stable framerate and also make the environments really, really dark.
So true😂😂
Dude, I still to this day still say "Multiple missile" like she does. I played this game so much growing up.
Bro I always thought she said "multi golden science " me and my sis always thought that and I splashed her in the pool one time and said that and every since it's been a inside joke and until I read your comment I kept replaying it till I heard her drag the word out proper with the British accent or whatever it is. Man that's crazy thankyou. For ruining it but not ruining it if that makes sense. To us it will always be multi golden science lmao😂
@@ILLUMINATION313EVO Hahahahaa!!! That was awesome! Thanks for sharing your story!
Man, this game was great. It was my second most played game on the n64 besides wwf no mercy
YES!!!
I know it’s “multiple missile” but as a kid I always heard “ multi-go-me-sigh-eee”. Never knew what it was, just thought it was some futuristic weapon lol 😂
Oh that’s what she says lol! I just found out after all these years. Miss playing this game but I always sucked at it because of my floppy analog stick
Wow I remember playing this in 99/2000 when I was 6, 20 years on here I am watching it on CZcams still got the cartridge actually need to hook my n64 back up for the nostalgia 😂
Oh finally! I loved this game so much when i was young! Thank you! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
2:07:49 Whoops...?
Great drum and bass 🎵🎶🥁🎹🪘🎹🥁🎛🎚🥁🎛🥁🎹🥁🎛🥁🎹📠🎹🪘🎹
mul-ti-ple-mis-sile
I've been randomly saying this out loud for over 20 years.

@@TRG29338 ctfu😂 you’re not alone
For years I never knew what she was saying until you spelled it out🤦♂️
As a kid I always heard "multi pulti sy", "water" instead of mortar (didn't help that it looked like jets of water shooting out) , and instead of rear fire rockets, "real fire rockets"... as opposed to those fake fire rockets... I guess British accents really fucked with me.
2:12 I love the intro before the race stars
I finally found my n64 remember games
Yeah me too man!
Extreme G 2 always felt slower than the first one
Exactly, the frame rate drop and the camera angle were terrible..
My siblings and I always thought this was easily the weakest game out of the 4 of them.
@@richardspillers6282 what are the other 2 games
I still play this game. Love Hydra Prime theme
The graphics are amazing
Omg omg OMG I finally found it!!! Sorry... but its been forever since I last played this and couldn't figure out the name.
The first one was the best

The menus:
Of course the MENUS! Always the MENUS! Anyways the menus here will have the following options:
Single player:
You can play any Courses you UNLOCKED by Playing Extreme Contests! And within those Courses, You will find Different Routes.

Aquanor(Shape: End of Ship)
(Route name(RoadBlock locations and direction of movement))
-The Harbour
-Submarine Bay(inside the cave>)
-Clifftops(near the end of the course
Did anyone else find this game really tough?
I did when I was like 9
I did.
Played it yesterday for like an hour on my N64... Mainly physics are very wonky and the camera is uncomfortable.
Any other Extreme G game is at least a decent introduction to the series.
@@_SereneMango I have to agree. It's easy to see the flaws with older racing games. I played Toca on the PS1 recently wasn't as much fun as I remembered.
@@alexl2475 I mean 3D gaming on consoles was new in the 90s. They had to create practices and methods that nowadays are the norm.
There still are great quality racing games from that time anyways. Diddy Kong Racing and Crash Team Racing are both majestic examples.
And also, tbf... Extreme G shines on post N64 games. I guess they needed that hardware to accomplish what the series is about: supersonic motorbikes. Like the N64 DOES TRY, just barely.
God f*cking damn i love this game
Loved this game 🤩
Still playing this today!
Alternate Routes:
Aquanor:
Submarine Bay: Inside the Cave, you go right instead of left
Clifftop: Near the end of Course, you go left instead of entering the finish cave
Lumania:
Pyramid: after the 2nd tunnel, go straight! Instead of turning left!
Landing bay: After starting, the path goes up rather then straight(no road block)
Tethra:
Fault: before the first tunnel, you go right instead of entering the tunnel
Nocturne: after the first giant rotating tunnel, go straight instead of turning left
After 2 ramps, you go left instead of right
Fault/Nocturne: near the end, you go left instead of right.
Tox city:
Pulsar/Apex: inside the cave, instead of going left, go straight
Apex: after leaving the cave, go left instead of straight
Sensara:
???: after passing the 1st N, go left instead of right
Crybridge pass: after passing the 3rd N, go right instead of left
This game and/or the original Extreme G used additive blending (specifically
, a mix of alpha and additive blending), which was unheard of for the Nintendo 64.
Memories...
Super nostalgic!
I miss F-zero and F-zero clones. Sure I enjoy games have bigger budgets and looking fancier now, but I miss all the dead genres.
This would be a 🔥 movie
I loved that game
We need this on Nintendo Switch Online! Please Nintendo.
Extreme G 1 was so much better when it comes to Audio in every aspect, the most annoying thing is in part 2 the engine sounds like a Yugo.
Remember the vs mode
I always preferred the original Extreme-G to this one, the first really felt like you were going fast!
This one looks inferior..
The track design and camera is messed up.... the first one was out of control too but you always found your self after crashing or slowing down... this one looks awful
Can we play this now in 2022? Anyway? Damn it was so fun.. towards the end you get the characters of those bikes and race with them. It was so good.
23:52 you seriously thought you had to go left there man bahahaha. Route changes tricked you!
imagine playing this on Stadia with 50 ms input lag + another 200 ms of lag from your HDTV lol
Yooo I Remember this game WasI remember that this game was really difficult for me ..... I was not used to speed :b
I really enjoyed the weapons
My older sister rented this game at blockbuster years ago I had a super hard time finding control figure button placement to know which button does what.
This one was fun too, but I always preferred the graphics, most of the track layouts, and DEFINITELY the soundtrack of the first installment.
Even the "sense" of speed of the first was superior IMO
Loved this game and the music, but sucked as ass a kid. Came back many years later and killed this game on an emulator.
I really don't understand why they chose to use un-branded generic drone bikes for the AI opponents rather than the other cool bike designs available for the player.
may be a hardware limitation, using the same generic bike with a different color is a lot cheaper than a bunch of unique bikes with their own art and sound assets
@@slowbro596 probably that
Strangely I love the design of AI's bikes and wanted to have a black one for me in the game when I was kid
Hydra Prime was thr hardest track
What does it say at 2.56.46 when you get the powerup before you get first place. It also says it another time in the beginning of the race. "Multi golden ion"? We always thought it said multi golden science lol it was a inside joke. Been tryin to find out forever ❤
"Multiple Missiles" ... I also didn't understand it at first.
Anyone remember unlocking the black robot guy he was really fucking fast
Yes. That was Alien X.
@@chrismarek7864 alien x dang I forgot his name
Too bad you played easy
1:28:54 That was simply by mistake, I just clicked and didnt look. From Meltdown on it's Medium. Didnt want to rerecord the first half because of it.
@@RetroGameSpacko thanks for the memories nonetheless
