The N64 Drum n Base album you didnât know you needed!
I'm pretty sure I got my parents to buy me this game when I was about 10, probably on a birthday shopping trip, simply because the box art was cool. At the time, the only racing games I had played were Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64. Maybe Crash Team Racing, but I don't remember what year that released. However, I thought this game was SO COOL. Motorcycles that went faster than the speed of sound, on tracks that looped and curved all around and upside down. And there were weapons and combat. I also thought this game was super difficult. I could only really play the first couple of difficulties and barely make it through.
It was many years later that I picked it up again and got rather good at it. You have to spend a bit of time with the game to really understand how the bikes control and memorize the 12 tracks. Once you do, it leads to some amazing feelings as you can weave through the corners and keep your speed up enough to break the sound barrier without using a boost.
I also loved the soundtrack! I hadn't been exposed to much drum and base music at the time and the addition of some synth elements took it to the next level. I'll admit, you have to hear the different tracks quite a few times before you'll be able to identify some from the others, but the tracks that stand out are very good. (I also recently learned that the PC version of the game had a different soundtrack by a different composer!)
Please enjoy this remastered soundtrack! Iâve taken every track, and run them through software mastering, EQ, and stereo widening. Grab a nice pair of headphones and prepare for the best base on the N64!
Music composed by Simon Robertson and Stephen Root.

Never would I think the games I played when i was 7 would affect my musical taste so much
Same
funny you say that..im on my way to learn how to produce dnb because if this game
P R E C I S E L Y
the entire aesthetic of this game was perfect and the music was even better.
Same af!!!!
It didn't matter if the view distance was 3 ft. The Extreme-G games were awesome, and so was the music.
I wish more people knew about this game's incredible soundtrack, cause these are sick tracks
Lumania has a best track.
@@Brand-pn5yz I like Lumania. That track is great
Underground tracks for the XG2 community. Not many peeps knew about the game altogether
@@bboyStuntZ ikr?
Wish more people knew about the game in general
Hydra Prime slaps hard
It's impossible to not become nostalgic while listening to this glorious OST.
It's such a time capsule for all us 90's kids/teens.
It's such a shame that futuristic racers have become so rare these days; they used to be everywhere back in the day
One of the best soundtracks ever hands down!
51:04 Eschaton still sounds so fresh today. It was literally the drum beat of my childhood. So badass.
I feel the same about Farron. I just love the bouncy bass.
Man I knew this was a banger at 6 years old. Crazy nostalgia trip
Farron and Canous are definitely my favorite ones
Farron is my favorite because of it's killer bassline.
The soundtrack blended well with the motor bikes and stages I was so blown away by this game
Iâve loved this soundtrack for years. I was only 7 or 8 years old playing this game for the first time, no internet, no knowledge of the music I was listening to; this game 100% is responsible for me getting into dnb and jungle music.
12:57 takes me back. đ˘ all time favorite
I used to spent so much time on XG1 and 2. I hope to see a remake of the franchise. I was 7 years old, now I'm 29 and I remember each things about this game like it was yesterday !
My love for the series grew with every game. I've only played all the way through the first game once or twice, the second game a few times, XGIII many times, and I've played through XGRA more times that any other game, every. III and XGRA are SO GOOD. I'm so sad that the studio went under after the last game. And there really hasn't been a game that rivals the gameplay since then.
@@GEMGaming_yt I didn't played a lot of XGRA but I loved the soundtrack ! I hope to see a remake of this franchise seriously and I have good hopes after Perfect Dark has been announced this week by Microsoft.
Seriously!? XGRA was quintessential in shaping my musical tastes growing up. I bought both the CDs of Celldwellar and Bt's Movement In Still Life. Bt got me into trance music and it's been a love I've had ever since. I feel like a owe a lot to that game. Such an amazing soundtrack. I'm really glad that you enjoyed it too.
P.s. The Last Firstborn by Celldwellar still stands today as one of the best songs I've ever heard.
@@GEMGaming_yt Oh yeah man ! This franchise is easily in my rankings. I'll try to play XGRA more soon ! I'm also glad that you enjoyed the franchise. đ
when i met the track song and level hydra prime i thought nothing could be scarier and harder.....until i met the next and final track eshchaton.....
Escahton is great but I feel like the parts where you drive over the same road you were just on is a bit more confusing than it needs to be.
@@GEMGaming_yt i totally agree it confused me so much first i couldnt figure it out. and on top it happens at both the start and finish. both hydra primse and eschaton had bike grabbing walls like sticky or magnetic walls that would try to pull you if you came close to it. scary stuff.
decided to start this morning emulating N64, and remembered this absolute gem from the video store. I had no idea it had a full on jungle OST. Which today is my fav genre. Such glory.
Yes! Was my introduction to the genre back when I was a kid.
This game changed my life. DnB is now my favorite genre
Lmao same đ
YES!!!! The music in this game blew my mind as a kid.. probably one of the biggest musical influences of my life seeing as nowadays I listen to Noisia Radio every week :D - thank you for remastering and sharing it!
AND you made the art of the video match the levels, yo this is some seriously high quality work!!!!! 11/10
Thanks so much! This is a labor of passion. This music was so different from any game I had played before it. Speaking of music defining someone's tastes, not so much this game, but its two sequels did the same for me. XGIII and XGRA led me to buying cds from Bt and Celldweller and I still listen to them today. They're actually the only CDs I've ever purchased. đ
I highly appreciate your use of the logos. Thank you for this
I can totally project myself in 99 when I hear this. This music is like hardwritten in my senses. It's like a snapshot of my psychological state then.
Man! These tracks from this game was super sick! I actually have the game somewhere next to my N64 but this is where my love for D&B started. Thanks for posting this video tho! I'm definitely gonna make a remix to all these songs!
Was a 13 when me and my mate used play this game. We were into Drum and bass so rave all the way through. Canous was my favourite track, but they all banged!
Canous is one of the more unique songs in the game, and it's a pretty difficult race track with some blind turns. I don't remember have a favorite race track, but canous would be towards the top of the list.
I soooo wish I was born in the 80's so I could've witnessed this scene blossom w
The N64 did a great job with it too! It was far from CD quality audio, but some of these composers did wonders with it. I'm still floored any time I think about how the Jet Force Gemini soundtrack is in game audio of an N64 game.
Get out there, get inspired and make what you wanted for yourself for the new generations. There's new genre's of music coming out as we speak.
whats astonishing is they have this track running on a game size wise much much much smaller than todays games
The "breaking the sound barrier" mechanic of this game always blew my mind as a child, since all sound from the game would go away, but it's kinda sad that doing well at the game means the music goes away, thankfully I wasn't too good, so I always had the music blasting
Have you played Extreme G 3? The effect of breaking the sound barrier in that game is really cool too.
Still one of the coolest features in a game
I miss that feeling severely haha
Just remembered how awesome this soundtrack was! Definitely gonna boot up my n64 and play this game again!
You should! This game felt so good with the real N64 controller.
I played this game like, i don't even know how long ago. It must have been when i was in middle school. Now in my mid 30's i still remembered the Canous track music. I hadn't heard it since the last time i played it when i was a kid and yet here it is. The internet is truly an amazing thing.
This brought back memories. Fond memories. Like yeah, i played Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing on the N64 too, and they are both iconic and amazing games. But this game was so cool and creative with how it did it's tracks and stuff and you really get the feel for how fast your going especially when you break the sound barrier. The music was so unique and different. Somehow evokes a sense of calm while also gets you pumping and that is so hard to do.
It really is a wonder how this game wasn't more popular.
Sometimes the coolest stuff is only cool to a small amount of people. I think the 4th and final game in the series, XGRA: Extreme G Racing Association, is one of the finest gaming experiences ever. I've played it countless times and wholeheartedly recommend it.
This is a beast of an OST, big ups for the remaster!
Lumania has a best theme.
This does sound good on my car sound system. Thanks for cleaning up the audio
I bet it sounds great in the car! I made sure to pay special attention to the base end of the audio since these songs rely so much on the base to carry the melody.
Rename your car 2064, you'll have a surprise ^^
Lumania slaps so hard for me
gimme that fucking high octane NOSTALGIA!
MAN I just got off the phone with a high school buddy and one of the games we talked about was this one. I only owned Extreme G-2 and I had no idea that they released a couple more titles in the series after it. I remember the game feeling very different from other racers out there, but as a fan of F-Zero and Wipeout it's hard not to like this one. The overall product and gameplay is somewhat janky, but I think the aesthetic is on point.
Thank you so much for remastering the tracks. As a drum & bass listener this little album is definitely a treat. Big up!
Thank you! I definitely recommend the two other games, 3 and XGRA. I also loved the soundtracks of those games, but all of the music was licensed, so it's not going to be in a video. Sad face. I have most of it on my Spotify though. :)
i still play this game.
I still play XGRA. I'll play through the campaign at least once every couple of years. One of the best games ever to me.

Always felt there was something special about this game. I vaguely remember going very hard at it and reaching some of the deeper levels/harder difficulties. This, with the soundtrack as well as increasing speeds makes me think now that the game was pushing the bring at the time. Gave it a "hardcore" feeling.
This was a good game, but the soundtrack somehow elevated and polished it to the next level. Great memories.
Same with its sequels.
You're doing God's work dude.
One of my favorite racing games. Second only to F-Zero. Unlocking the three superbikes just for the sound of their engines alone makes it worthwhile to play for hours on end.
Mortar
Homing Missile
Ion Sidecannon
Phosphor Flare
Flame Exhaust
Invulnerability
Head Lamp
Rear-Fire Rocket
Leader Missle
Rail Gun
...to give you some more Nostalgia
I Love All Tracks but if i really had to choose one its 28:46 Tethra
I remember these in the lady's voice too. It was strangely spoken and accented. And sometimes hard to hear over the music and sound effects. When I was a kid, I didn't actually know what she was saying for some of these. đ
@@GEMGaming_yt đthis Remaster is KILLER! Love that Rolling Bass
Canous has been stuck in my mind for since I heard lol reminds me of a techno Tool song
The nostalgia. This needs to be on the switch.
I'd love for this series to come back! The 4th game is one of my absolute favorite games of all time.
@@GEMGaming_yt I don't remember a 4th one as far as I remember there was extreme g 3 for the GameCube and Oceania đ âľ soundtrack was the shit when your bike was supped up with the good engines and turbo where it's all a sonic boom of silence that's how fast you going it was awesome.
@@omarrivera8401 YES, Extreme G 3 was amazing! Still is. The track that plays at Oceania in that game is called Needlejuice by System F (a former name of Ferry Corsten). And yeah, the 4th game is called Extreme G Racing Association, abbreviated as XGRA. Those 2 games shaped me as a music lover. I discovered so many amazing artists from those soundtracks like Bt, Ferry Corsten, and Celldweller. I absolutely recommend that you check out XGRA if you've never heard of it. Also, I'm very sad that all of the music in 3 and XGRA is licensed and I can't make videos about their soundtracks.
@@garymullin1475 I remembered xgra now, and I also remember why I didn't get much into it. It has rock in it, I'm not too crazy about rock music and vocals, I'm more of an instrumental only kinda music.
Thank you so, so much for this
Wow, man, many thanks for the upload! Besides your awesome work on remastering the entire XG2 N64 OST which I'm in love with these days I really appreciate knowing *all* the tracks' titles! I had big problems with learning these for Meza Virs (my fav track), and the last three ones. Thanks a lot!
Thank you! I sometimes have a hard time remember the track titles too!
ooow man ! Meza virs is the best !!
Omg i got here cause i saw a post of someone hyping up 1080 snowboarding OST and im like nah extreme G had the best. Now that im listening to it, this shit DEFINITELY was where i got my love for drum n bass and jungle. Canous hands down was the one song i LOVED and it always stuck out to me. The nostalgia hit HARDDD
One of the better video game OST's out there, thanks for an excellent remaster.
I'd love to redo the video with gameplay footage someday.
I always preferred the soundtrack to the OG XG but holy hell do some of these tracks fucking SLAP!
Wow man!!! Thank you so much for this!!! XG2 was one of the first 3 games I got on the N64 when I was a kid and it blew my mind! The bikes, the levels and the MUSIC!!! This brings back so many memories of playing this till late in the evening!!
One of my favorite things about this game is the sound that the bikes make.
Definitely!! Especially when breaking the sound barrierđ
You did a fantastic job uploading this you understand? Fantastic. Clear quality. I used to play this blasted game , finish the stage with the music I like, and just let it play till I got bored of it. Jungle and Drum and Bass all day.
Thank you so much!
Very 90s...very nice!
SOOO totally cutting-edge 90s!
@@GEMGaming_yt yes it sure is amigo. I dont know what your age is, but back in the very late 90s the underground music scene was full of these sounds.
spacebike go _NYOOM_
The sound tracks are drums & bass they are good to sample đĽđĽđĽ
Ahh the nostalgia, Farron was my favorite.
Man you did an AWESOME work ! So perfect ! Nostalgia hits my brain harder than drugs lol, people who played this game as kids are the elite of the human race no doubt lol.
Thank you !!!
Sounds like the future, it must be from the future.
Funny how Extreme G2 was more up to Trance and bass channels for ears happiness.
Dude
This is HARD
This should not be this good⌠but Iâm glad it is
Happy to see that Anville(34:32) is as good as I remembered
Few soundtracks slap as hard as this one does
9:41 wow
this game and its OST, a masterpiece!
Awesome quality, tanks. Take my like and my shared for my friends old scool of Nintendo 64. Save From Brazil.
Thank you so much for sharing!
This game was a total Fucking flex!!! đŞđź

I love this remaster.

Bro Iâm like I bet that one game I was hooked on when I was a kid has some bangersâŚthe game.
Listen to Eschaton 51:04 at 0.75 speed for a certified bop
sounds great
Ah Hydra Prime always hated that map
Hydra Prime might be the hardest track in the game, mostly because you can't see the turns coming because you're always in a tube. But I think it has the most unique, and possibly the best song of the soundtrack.
I played so much extreme g 1 I didn't know there was a 2 or 3 I did known about the racing association one but that was eh
I started with 2 as a kid, thought 3 was amazing, and XGRA is one of my most favorite games of all time. I've played through the campaign countless times. It's one of the few games that I can come back to and just love it all over again. The track design is amazing and the licensed OST is top notch.
Well done!
Thank you! I hope you enjoyed it. đ
people expect a video game soundtrack. what they get instead is a surprisingly good drum n bass album
you didn't just put it up, you actually re-mastered it. please tell me you plan to do either Perfect Dark or Wipeout 64.
I hadn't thought about those, mainly because I didn't play them as a kid. But I would totally do it if I got a lot of people requesting it.
my parents probably still know these songs aswell
the Menu Music alone was playing Hours xD
Great !!!!!
What's great is that you could insert the game disk into the CD player and it would play the OST.
Yess!! Ty!!
You're welcome! Thank you for listening!

Wish this was on iTunes
Yo I've been looking for this and thought the planet didn't have this knowledge but here we are. How? What black magic did you do??
Lol, just the black magic of Adobe Audition, After Effects, and Premiere.
Also check Bomberman hero for another great dnb ost
I'll give it a listen
16:15 Amogus?
Abogus
oh hey eltorro
when the XG2 is sus!!!!
49:08 to 49:28 is so amazing i wish had that part on repeat
16:32 when the racing stage is SUS
Meza virs reminds me of resident evil 5 mercenaries
Could you upload these individually?
Can you please remaster Forsaken (1998) soundtrack and Re-Volt (1999) please? Apparently it's got similar music as the guys that made music for extreme g2 (Simon Robertson and Stephen Root) also worked on these two titles, thank you!
Any chance you'd upload these seperately?
I'd say there is a chance. I mostly don't do individual tracks because it's a lot of work. But since this OST is so small, I would consider it.
@@GEMGaming_yt Woo. Sensara was always one of my favorite n64 tracks
Wonder if they did the music for N gen racing on ps1
I doubt it. I've never heard of NGEN Racing. I just started watching a longplay and there's already some really great examples of late 90s house!
Does anyone know the name of the artist who composed these?
That would be Simon Robertson and Stephen Root. I should really put that in the description.......brb.
