Hello, thanks for your information, I went through all of this 6 years ago, I'll be taking my citizenship interview next month, I have a question regarding to this immigration benefit for childrens, my mom took advantage of this and here I'm, unfortunately apparently after I become a US citizen I would be never allowed to sponsor any of my parents because of "Abandonment." Even though I don't think she abandoned us it technically is abandonment, that was what our lawyer told us, that's unfortunately sad because she is the main reason why I was able to come here at the first place. Now that I'm 23 years old I think she could have applied for some other kind of help when she entered to here, she suffered from abuse of my father he would beat her all the time he was drunk and she have proof of that, she just wanted to take herself and me away from danger. Now based in my summarized story could you please answer my next question, do you think there is a possibility that she will be able to apply for any legal status based in her history? Thanks 🙏

Would a recipient of this status be able to attend college and be able to apply for financial aid or are they ineligible?

Would this get the neglectful parent(s) in any sort of legal trouble?

They apparently will never be able to be sponsored by you once you become us citizen, that's what this says "section 101(a)(27)(J)(iii)(II)"

Hello, and thank you for your question. The SIJS category does not require a U.S. citizen sponsor, however, you should reach out to LOJO by visiting our website at www.lojolaw.com to schedule a consultation with the Attorney so that she can best advise you on these important matters.
