I've had one of these for many years and it's been invariably incredible. Just dressed mine up with micarta scales and polished the edge which is thoroughly stained from close to a decade of use. Put an ulti clip on the sheath and it's now a perfect EDC in every way, and I'll take this 1095 over any stainless that isn't particle formed.

I had the 440C stainless Izula and loved it . It held up great to all my abuse and saltwater adventures . Unfortunately a so called friend needed more than I did lol . I need to pick another one . Best EDC fixed blade for the money . I’m in the swamps of South Florida and my uncoated 1095 Esee’s are holding up good . I dry them off and oil em after every use .

I am a hiker, so weight is a big issue. The Izula is light enough where I don’t feel the weight penalty, agile enough to use for carving tasks or food prep, and tough enough even to baton smaller wood. This thing pairs great with a Solo Stove. I have a few of them.

I'm with you on Spyderco. A friend of mine recently picked up a newer para 3 lightweight. His interest started with trying my older Manix 2, but wanting something smaller. So he went ahead and ordered his para 3. It arrived off center, under-lubed (or over-tightened?) and when I held it... it just felt cheap. This surprised me because the knife I bought was great from the factory. Maybe it's because he went for the "lightweight" version but, it's not like his knife was much cheaper than mine. Has Spyderco's quality dropped? Did he just get a lemon? I don't know, but I'm not looking to be a repeat customer. I love ESEE though, zero complaints for my 6. Might have to get a little Izula to keep it company...

haha! You must be new here so welcome! After your channel gets monotized from youtube, there are certain factors to how fast your channel grows, how much you are paid, and so on... Longer videos help me with "viewer retention" so as that goes up, the algorythm recommends my channel to more new people (like yourself). Also longer vids have more ads, and ads pay me as well.

    Awesome 👌🏾 👏
Yes i do own the Esee Izula but in 440C and carry it as a neck knife.
    Very versatile and great ergonomics.
I do however understand why the Izula 2 was produced with a longer handle..
To increase its ergonomics even further and create a better purchase on the knife.
Its a superb design and after all the years its been in production it still works 💪 and sells.
I really feel even more bladesteel types should emerge from this great design.
I do know of the S35vn version thats out,but i do however prefer the pure rawness of the 1095 carbon steel version with the color coating i would like to own aswell 😀
Its not the best at food preparation because of the stock thickness but it definitely works ok for that too.
It is small survival knife and owns that title beautifully.

Just a heads up yours is fine for food despite being.156” thick but the 1095 coated is not because it’s toxic (the powder coat) but it’s removable and you can do a forced patina. 👍🏼 Just in case you get one in 1095.

I've never been a fan of the izula, I've owned a couple trying to like it but it just felt off to me. It's an ESEE though so it's definitely a great knife but I tend to edc the 3 or 4 and I just recently got the candiru so I wear that as a neck knife. I think you said you got it from knife center but it would be knifeworks that sells the orange izula exclusively. I'll have to watch it again and edit my comment if I'm wrong lol.
The video was good as well, but I'd still keep Lily around 😁. Lol.
That is a nice watch also, but I'd prefer the resin band myself. Sounds like a great company though if they're doing all that for you. More businesses need to be like that.

Right? I'm surprised you didn't connect with the Izula but the candiru is awesome too. And thanks for clearing that up! The orange coating is my fav for sure. And will do bradda. Also- agreed totally. Barton is a breath of fresh air so far in uncertain times of rampant inflation. Appreciate you sounding off mang!

    • @redbear_70
      @redbear_70 Před 2 lety +3

@@5MinuteKnives I think it's the handle shape, even with scales I didn't feel it. The candiru is obviously smaller but the shape is good and with a lanyard it makes it even better. I made a set of scales for it and modified them so I could do a lanyard.
I wouldn't have said anything but I don't like knife center, way over priced(although not as bad as blade hq) and their attitude is eh.. Knifeworks has the best prices and their customer service is great.
I love orange as well but strangely I don't have any orange coated esee's. I'd like the get the orange 5 eventually though, but I have a black one with orange scales so really no need for another. Ok I'm rambling now, lol.
