Been watching this man pour out his soul since the views were in the hundreds, and now he has millions. So happy to know how many people have found and appreciate his music.
Same I saw him live in 2021 or 22 and I cried for the first half hour of the show his music is so full of emotion 😂 he's also super nice
i'm 67 and been a music fan all my life but i've never heard anyone like shakey .its like i'm hearing guitar music for the very first time. i'm not smart enough to understand his style i just know its f___ing good

Saw this dude live at the pheonix in Toronto in december 2014. Guy broke his fucking bottom guitar string. (not sure what it's called) and he just hummed the notes he was missing. Shit was epic as fuck. I don't fanboy over very many artists but this dude earned my attention. So I'm proud to be his fanboy!

@@jarrodsamons Most money comes from tapping into the lowest common denominator unfortunately. Shakey is an incredible exception to the norm, though not that rule. He never plays the same song really, but variations on the scaffold of sound and words that have a title. Every recording is worth listening to since there is no way you can expect it to be the same as another.
I can't even do this. This is the kind of music where when I hear it I feel grateful to be alive just to hear it being played.

Pay attention to where this is performed and the narrative of the song, the very ill fitting timings, theres a lot going on here. Pretty dark stuff but very beautiful also. I've been a musician most of my life and ill say without doubt this man cannot be beat. He is everything, all at once, incredible.

None of the timing is ill-fitting.
I love how original he is. Almost every time I hear him play one of his songs the kapo will be on a different fret and certain parts are just improvised. Been listening to him on repeat for like two days.

Shakes Graves is a 21 century live born for CZcams artist. He is can only truly be experienced live you are meant to watch and feel him play his songs as much as you are supposed to listen to them. So many of his songs the best versions are all live jam sessions on CZcams the audiotree sessions are just one example, another is when he does pandora with Esme. He gives me hope for American folk.
dirty, gritty, real. this is real country music, even if nobody wants to say it. granted there's no drinkin on a plane or patio boat or chick's in short shorts, or country singers with 100$ jeans with frosted hair but it's definitely definitely middle American country GOLD , love it love it love it !!

Trying to hold my people together and myself from a battered mindset. Wishing the woman I loved was here beside me. Taking strides to lead , but can’t seem to lead my mind out of this rut. Baby steps I suppose. Loving yourself is never easy people. It’s hard to forget the missteps with people , jumping the gun to attempt to reach for the life you’ve been praying for. Every day I’m reminded of the holes in my unlucky skin.

Shakey has easily transitioned into my favorite (all time) musician. I listen to him literally every single day, and have been doing so for over 4 year. He is an amazing musician, and I strive to be as clean as he is with his music. I was fortunate enough to watch him live in Eugene, OR, a couple years ago, and it was the best concert I've ever been to.
Can't wait for him to return, because I will not miss an opportunity to watch him live.

In the late 60s I went to a concert in Devinshire Downs in LA. I saw that the Saint Marie, Jimmy Hendrix call Janis Joplin. I actually Cantel size your tent. Listen to who she talk to and enjoyed some southern comfort with her. I will never forget the conversations we had and the memories of that night. Oh to go back there one more time.

So many musicians cannot pull off live what they manage with the help of an expensive studio and all the "help" that comes with it - Shakey seems not to manage to convey the brilliance of his live playing in his albums somehow... Anyone know where I can get my hands on live recordings of his?
I've been putting his live stuff into a website that turns youtube videos into MP3 or whatever format you use. I edit the length and take out the talking and then the good stuff is mine. Google youtube into MP3.
