🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:14 🧠 *Understanding Wellbutrin's Mechanism of Action* - Wellbutrin inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine and dopamine, affecting the synaptic levels of these neurotransmitters. - The exact mechanism of how Wellbutrin exerts its effects is not fully understood. - Wellbutrin is prescribed for conditions like major depressive disorder, seasonal affective disorder, smoking cessation, and off-label use for ADHD. 02:20 💊 *Common Side Effects of Wellbutrin: Headaches and Weight Changes* - A frequent side effect of Wellbutrin use is headaches, which can range from mild tension-type headaches to more severe migraine headaches. - Weight loss is another notable side effect, affecting up to two-thirds of patients in some cases, primarily due to reduced appetite. - Dry mouth is reported in about 17 to 20 percent of patients, potentially linked to increased norepinephrine levels. 03:56 🌡️ *Gastrointestinal and Metabolic Side Effects* - Constipation and diarrhea are potential gastrointestinal side effects, affecting around 5-10% of patients each. - Nausea and vomiting can occur in fewer patients, approximately 2 percent. - Anorexia or reduced appetite contributes significantly to weight loss, affecting about 3-5 percent of patients. 05:48 😴 *Neurological and Sleep-related Side Effects* - Insomnia affects 10-20% of patients, while somnolence (feeling very tired throughout the day) is reported in approximately 2-3% of patients. - Anxiety and nervousness can worsen, especially in patients prone to anxiety disorders. - Dizziness and tremors are other potential neurological side effects linked to increased norepinephrine signaling. 07:38 🩺 *Other Side Effects and Important Considerations* - Pharyngitis (sore throat) affects 3-13% of patients, while heart palpitations and chest pain are observed in 3-5% and 3-6% of patients, respectively. - Seizure risk is dose-dependent, especially at higher doses of Wellbutrin, with a risk of approximately 0.4% to 3%. - Suicidal ideation is a critical concern, particularly among younger patients (under 24 years old), leading to a Black Box warning for this medication. Just three days in. The first day was I felt very angry, moody and uncomfortable in my skin. the second day was ok. Yesterday was full of anxiety to the point where I had to stop working and take a nap in the middle of the day.
Zoloft user for over a year. Just had Wellbutrin added as a mood enhancer to counter the flatness (zombification)Zoloft gives me. So far so good. A little irritable, night sweats, and a few weird dreams. But these medications take weeks to settle in and benefit you. I’m optimistic.
If you want to avoid the weight loss/ headaches just take the placebo being hawked out by slate run. I haven’t been able to get a manufacturer that works from my pharmacy because this is all they will fill.
100%. My first round of Wellbutrin came from Slate Run. It was awful. Then I looked up reviews on Slate Run Wellbutrin, and a majority of it was negative. I switched to the ScieGen version of Wellbutrin, and it seemed to work alright for a few weeks, and then it didn't. I know someone who is on Epic brand Wellbutrin and has a good result, but I can't find any pharmacy that carries it in my area. However, we're all different and maybe Epic brand wouldn't work for me either.
Just started this with Metaformin and I'm super sleepy, pain in certain parts of my body, headache and feel like a zombie. However, I did lose 3 pounds in two days, but im having nightmares.
Many others say bupropion is ok for anxiety because it’s an ADHD problem underlying the anxiety and the high blood pressure will go away once the anxiety is resolved…
Can it cause you to have a low libido? Maybe I’m being impatient because I just finished my first week and my libido still hasn’t returned. I suffer with SAD and that sudden depression will affect my libido naturally but even though my mood is better, i have no arousal or desire to have sex. Can anyone comment if they too have this issue?
My psychiatrist has prescribed me 300mg of Wellbutrin a day. I don't feel any much difference than before starting taking the drug, but I have stopped using tobacco for more than a month with ease, maybe the antidepressant medicine has helped there.
p.oi.on pills. you have to do a very very slow taper. iused jewelers scale to taper very small amount each week or sometimes two weeks. see CZcamsr :..👉 Nolalyfe for tapering.
@@janeteddddd yes, I have done a 7% drop from the last initial dose. For example dropped from 300-mg to 279-mg. A taper lasted about one to two months until I stabilized. The medical industry doesn’t tell you how hard it is to get off this stuff
Anxiety symptoms are also more pronounce in people who are addicted to nicotine, because having your nicotine receptors clogged up and not being able to get relief from cravings is maddening. I tried to quit with chantix a few years ago and its the same thing. Actually smoking more because there is neither any relief for cravings nor nicotine OD nausea. Probably need to mostly quit before going on to nicotine receptor antagonists.
@@alexsmart5452 Not a doctor, but this is what makes the most sense to me. It seems to be dependent on 1) how much nicotine you use and 2) how adapted you are to welbutrin. It got worse when I upped my dosage a little, so I backed the dosage off and waited another week to titrate up and it seems to be less of an issue now. I use oral tobacco which is generally a higher overall dosage but slower delivery, and I bet they really only consider the data for smoking.
hey can people who are experiencing constipation after starting bupropion (mine is not wellbutrin tho. generic XL). could u comment here? i'm kinda getting scared. i feel like my GI system is shutting down. will it come back if i stop this medication? i'm not eating much. not hungry much. even when i eat - not much is coming out. i feel like my GI system is asleep pretty much. it's ridiculous.
I have constipation with it. Bad constipation. I actually sometimes skip an day's dose just so I can poop. That might be bad to do. I don't know. It did come back for me quickly. I usually have a poo the day after I skip it. My dr. said use Metamucil. I am going to try that.
@@jd-hj5ed don't use that p.oison. metamucil. research the ingredients. not good. maybe thinking of doing a very slow taper of this drug. research everything and their ingredients you put in your body.. everything!!
@@jd-hj5ed Thank you for sharing. I did skip a dose today, and I was able to do it. While it may sound unpleasant, I genuinely believe this is a significant issue. I'm actually quite shocked. I think this can have a long-term, permanent impact on the downregulation of the GI system. It's surprising, considering I've only been on this medication for about two months and it suddenly brought on constipation. I'm seriously reconsidering the use of this medication. Thanks again for sharing.
I've been using Wellbutrin for nearly thirty two days now. As well as paroxetine. I've always had huge stomach and constipation problems. The number one side effect I get after taking new pills are constipation. And yes, it's terrible and it's not good when it's constant. However, skipping doses aren't good at all. I think you're essentially disrupting what your pill is trying to do and help you with. So I tell you what my doctor told me. Not being active and not moving can affect constipation greatly. Also, foods that generally make you constipated. And not drinking enough liquid, especially water. I walk a lot now. Eat things that can help my bowl movements and drink water a lot. Thankfully, It's gotten so much better. I hope I could be helpful ✌🏻
@@daughterofCyrustheGreat You are right about skipping. I don't do it often. Just when things are so blocked I am getting sick. I do need to move more. I work at a computer. Thanks for your response.
Im a biker and i realise i can kinda see the possibility of accidents or mishaps when riding. Being a bike with compulsive reaction to your breaks due to anxiety when you ride a semi automatic is sonetimes hell and makes me not take my bike sometimes as much as i love it. I use to drink alcohol to aliviate alleviate anxiety. At first you still feel the fear before you go in social settings but when you get into the actual setting you realise you dont feel it anymore
That last sentence hits home for me. I have a hard time convincing myself to go out due to anxiety and once I'm out the door and in the environment, it's pretty much gone. I've always been anxious to go out, even to work, and that anxiety stayed the whole day until I started taking Wellbutrin. It makes me adjust to anxiety in the way a typical person should. As I got older, around mid-20s, I developed slight agoraphobia and that's probably the reason I have that initial anxiety, even being in an environment doing mundane tasks I do everyday like work
@@RideTheSkiesI would advise you challenge yourself to go into more crowded places because your mind still have the fear of anxiety in situations that are familiar triggers so now that you are on wellbutrin go places with crowds like parks , you don't have to interact immediately but be around people and you will adjust, this really helps me. I had a serious problem with eye contact , now people get intimidated by my eye contact. I love welbutrin. It replaced alcohols for me completely. I got face pain and itch at first but now I cut down from 300 mg to 150 daily and I'm okay
I’m on my third week of taking this medication and at first I felt great. But now for the last 5ish days my head constantly feels like it’s in a fog. I’ve been feeling weak almost like I’m sick but I’m not. I get shakey really easily.. almost like how I feel when I don’t eat for a while. I’ve also been having night sweats and have been nauseous as well as appetite loss. I don’t like it :(

Hubby takes 450mg of bupropion. Is that considered a high dose? He has a lot of the side effects listed but he takes so many other meds, any of them could also cause similar side effects. & now he's on cancer chemo meds.😂
I used a pain med with my bupropion when work got very physical .. the pain med didn’t work while on this med so had to stop taking it.. the two meds combined caused bad headaches! Do I’d say definitely yes !! 🙏 wishing your husband well..
I’ve taken it 2 days and I’m quitting. I have work in the morning yet here I am wide awake at 3 am with insomnia, heart palpitations, hand and foot ticks, high blood pressure and racing anxiety. Doctors are always like THE REWARDS OF THE MEDS OUTWEIGH THE BENEFITS but they have never been able to sell me these drugs before because I don’t agree. I will admit, I’m in the most depressed state I’ve ever been in so I decided to make a change and try it, but I’m returning to my instincts of not putting intense drugs in my body that I have to work up a tolerance to in the hopes of it changing my brain, and then getting addicted to it and unable to be without it without a withdrawal. I really hope we can just be ok. God have mercy pls - depression is horrible but these effects of these man-made drugs are bad for our health

I tried Wellbutrin & I couldn't last any longer than a week. I had really bad side effects, including dizziness, somnolence / feeling tired all day, feeling nauseous, brain fog, increased anxiety & chest pain. i was prescribed Wellbutrin to help with my ADHD. why would i take a medication to help with my ADHD, if the side effects are so severe that i cant even get anything done? i also had a slight loss of fine motor control, so i couldn't type well on my phone (i need that for work) & i also felt retarded because my tongue was hanging out of my mouth when symptoms got really bad. also starting feeling emotionally numb & had short term memory loss due to the brain fog. all of the symptoms were literally the opposite of what i wanted out of an ADHD medication.
Thanks for that feedback, I'm on my third week, and I was also prescribed Wellbuterin for ADHD and I feel worse. My brain is all over the place. I can't even finish a task without feeling lost or just having brain fog and my anxiety is through the roof.

Try not to combine them ever. If you don't like either of them then you may want to try modafinil instead. It's the only pill that's approved for US military pilots. They used to take adderall in the military but they frown on that now because the horrible side effects that amphetamine salts cause, and how addictive they can be if not moderated.
My friend was on bupropion and had to stop as their tics got much worse. Tics that had been dormant for years. Two months after stopping and their tics are still bad.
Lexapro WILL wreck your libido. I'm 23 and completely dead when it comes to sexual ability.
Hair thinning?
Hairloss? Increased breast size? Is that also a side affect?

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:14 🧠 *Understanding Wellbutrin's Mechanism of Action*
- Wellbutrin inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine and dopamine, affecting the synaptic levels of these neurotransmitters.
- The exact mechanism of how Wellbutrin exerts its effects is not fully understood.
- Wellbutrin is prescribed for conditions like major depressive disorder, seasonal affective disorder, smoking cessation, and off-label use for ADHD.
02:20 💊 *Common Side Effects of Wellbutrin: Headaches and Weight Changes*
- A frequent side effect of Wellbutrin use is headaches, which can range from mild tension-type headaches to more severe migraine headaches.
- Weight loss is another notable side effect, affecting up to two-thirds of patients in some cases, primarily due to reduced appetite.
- Dry mouth is reported in about 17 to 20 percent of patients, potentially linked to increased norepinephrine levels.
03:56 🌡️ *Gastrointestinal and Metabolic Side Effects*
- Constipation and diarrhea are potential gastrointestinal side effects, affecting around 5-10% of patients each.
- Nausea and vomiting can occur in fewer patients, approximately 2 percent.
- Anorexia or reduced appetite contributes significantly to weight loss, affecting about 3-5 percent of patients.
05:48 😴 *Neurological and Sleep-related Side Effects*
- Insomnia affects 10-20% of patients, while somnolence (feeling very tired throughout the day) is reported in approximately 2-3% of patients.
- Anxiety and nervousness can worsen, especially in patients prone to anxiety disorders.
- Dizziness and tremors are other potential neurological side effects linked to increased norepinephrine signaling.
07:38 🩺 *Other Side Effects and Important Considerations*
- Pharyngitis (sore throat) affects 3-13% of patients, while heart palpitations and chest pain are observed in 3-5% and 3-6% of patients, respectively.

How about now? I did the same thing
@@marshallthomas1906 working fine for me.
Anymore night sweats?
@@vigorousvoid5330 no more night sweats. I’m used to the medication. Only thing that annoys me at this point is memory loss.
Makes sense…staying away from toxic people helps too.
Thank you Jesus the side effects include chest pains because I honestly thought I was on the brink of a heart attack. 😅
how long did you use it before you started feeling the chest pain, what dose?
Did the chest pain go away?
I literally went to the ER today after being on it for 2 days having palpations
Can it cause you to have a low libido?
Maybe I’m being impatient because I just finished my first week and my libido still hasn’t returned. I suffer with SAD and that sudden depression will affect my libido naturally but even though my mood is better, i have no arousal or desire to have sex.
Can anyone comment if they too have this issue?
How you feeling now? I hear it's supposed to either have no effect on or increase your libido more often than decreasing it.
For the most part, my libido is very low. But every once in a while it'll spike out of nowhere.
My psychiatrist has prescribed me 300mg of Wellbutrin a day. I don't feel any much difference than before starting taking the drug, but I have stopped using tobacco for more than a month with ease, maybe the antidepressant medicine has helped there.
It actually helped me stop smoking too!
All these symptoms a person will or can have during tapering after a long term use!!!!!

REALLY?! ok maybe thats my issue. I eat 2mg nicorette lozenges like candy and am having really horrible issue with Wellbutrin(prescribed 2 weeks ago).
Can there be hair loss from Wellbutrin?
No
Yes
I loved this medicine but I had to stop I was going bald

I wish they could find something to help with losing hair
This also happened to me. I had to take medicines for alopecia and my hair stop falling out. I think the side effects last like 2/3 weeks.
hey can people who are experiencing constipation after starting bupropion (mine is not wellbutrin tho. generic XL). could u comment here? i'm kinda getting scared. i feel like my GI system is shutting down. will it come back if i stop this medication? i'm not eating much. not hungry much. even when i eat - not much is coming out. i feel like my GI system is asleep pretty much. it's ridiculous.
This narrator sounds like the actor who plays spencer Reid on the tv show Criminal Minds. Anyone know who it actually is?
I used it 20y ago. Just wound me up.
Has anyone experienced body/brain zaps you get if you miss a dose or a few doses?

That's the highest dose, the lowest does is 75mg
Anyone prescribing psychotropics knows to START LOW AND GO SLOW. That didn't happen at that high dosage.
