I loved this song as a teen (still do) but had never seen the music video before because i was a was a kid in the 90s/ 2000s. My heart swelled seeing the type of weddings I attended as a kid in those decades, decor, outfits, everything, used in the video. This brought the biggest smile to my face.

Yeah I tend to just call it the teenage dirtbag era which ran from about 1999-2004. It peaked in around 2001/2002. I'm like you in that I have no specific memory related to this song. I had friend who had sent me the link to this song some years ago. We used to be depressed and chill to this. Then she lost a lot of weight, started dating and grew distant from me. I don't resent her at all and I feel happy that her self esteem improved and I like to come back to this song and envision that she's living happily, somewhere out there on an island in the sun.
Can never resent someone for moving on and wanting better misery loves company and it can be extremely frustrating for both parties even worse for the one that doesn't move on as I was on both sides more than once.
