I am a former head and neck cancer patient, I was in excellent health before the cancer also a lifelong non smoker. I had treatment (radiation and chemo) in March of 2022. My radiation oncologist told me that my salivary glands wouldn't be working for about 6mths due to the radiation, well 6mths came and went still no saliva, then he said it might take a year before they heal.Well it has been well over one year now and no sign of the glands ever returning to normal. I saw my ENT doctor last month and after reading on the internet of a procedure called a Sialendoscopy which is used to clear the salivary glands of any blockage, stones etc. I thought maybe this may help. I got an appointment with a head and neck cancer specialist at Tampa General Hospital but apparently the scar tissue that had built up would not allow the device to penetrate any of my glands. I have a tough time eating, survive mostly on high protein shakes, most food taste horrible anyway. I am waitng to hear from my surgeon for other options.

I finished radiation for neck cancer in March. I suffer from very bad dry mouth and throat. Eating is not in the least enjoyable anymore, yet it's a chore. I really believed they would heal over time, but apparently, that's not the case and it's depressing. I don't know what to do because nothing really helps.
