  • I made a Kiridashi with a high carbon steel saw blade, mahogany, and two plastic plates of different colors. This short video records all the process of my knife making.

    the blade should have been annealed and re-tempered. All that hot work softened the steel. otherwise, great video!

    What about heat treating the blade? Did you do that off camera? ;>)

      No, this material is a special material, so there is no need to do heat treatment

      @@kinfemaking even HSS will not retain it's hardness under these conditions. What kind of steel is that?

      Yes, the thickness of the blade is a bit thin
