I first heard this song in a pub while bicycling through Ireland in 1983. It was the most beautiful, pure song I'd ever heard, and had a profound effect on me. It brings back such vivid memories almost 40 years later!!!

An amazingly gifted family. We have been so blessed to have them. I saw Mary Black in NYC many years ago. She performed this song and it was mesmerizing.

The best female singer to ever come out of this Isle of ours. She was young back then in 1980 but weren't we all for Christ sake !

I spent many months in Ireland between 2005 and 2008, and although I never could return back to this beautiful land and it's people, she'll always be in my heart and my memories. Nowadays, songs such as this and the occasional video keeps me satiated.

It seems the World was a more colorful, happier place in 1980, yet, yet maybe it's nostalgia. Mary could definitely hit the high notes back then.

Christ man did you never see or hear the news in Ireland in 1980? They were murdering children in the north of this little island for sport , both sides with equal ferocity and barbarism.

I wish I could see a picture of this doll baby, Anachie Gordon. That is an unusual name, which I never heard before. Is this an Irish or Scottish song? Gordon is a Scottish name. I know that in medieval Scotland, the parents of a girl could burn her at the stake if she would not marry the man they picked for her. Refer to "Bonnie Susie Cleland."
