  • Canyon have three E-MTBs for challenging offroad riding. We put all three back to back on some extreme, steep, exposed ridge lines to figure out which one we prefer. Taking each bike to the limit helps you understand how they all ride back to back.
    *Correction Neuron ON is 140mm travel...
    Join us on the ridge line as we fight the 80 km/h gusts of wind that ended up making them change the race route the next day as the wind hit 138 Km/h....

      @@alexbiketesteri think to answer this we need also to wait for the bosch release of the software that supports this thing and the availability. I personally think to go with the strive (comming from an levo2017 expert)

      I recognized that a part of the comment was lost somehow. bosch has shown a range extender(PowerMore 250), this should be possible for all of the newer units, but the manufacturer has to approve the the bottelscrews for the extra weight . An of corse the thing has to fit phzsically in the frame, probably you can measure it in the futhure video: size 200x88x75mm.
      That will gibe the strive or the neuron (small neureon frame i think i won't fit) the possibility up to 1000wh!

    Great review! I got a 2023 Spectral ON CF8, so it still has the 150mm fork, which actually works really well.
    Ive purposely left it alone for 1100 miles of all sorts of riding, lots of rocks/local riding.
    As noted here suspension set up makes all the difference, the rear sag has to for sure be dot on. Or pedal strikes will happen, be sure its on the firm side of set up. The bike turns much better when adjusted properly.
    At some point I will either turn the 150 fork into a 160, or buy an upgrade 160 fork, the bike is for sure worth modding to taste, its a monster truck of a bike and will bash thru anything, and also turn sharp, and is playful feeling when turning sharp.
    The Strive with long travel would be great at times, no doubt. The Spectral is my 1st E Mt bike but wont be my last.

    Thanks for this video again man. I was wondering ; if you would live in the Netherlands where we have pretty much flat trails with not much elevation but you would love to take your bike once a year to vacation in the alps in Swiss or France and do some adventurous biking. I don’t mean the avalanche but just have a few hours of fun with variable trails. What would you then choose? I mean when I would only ride in the Netherlands I guess Neuron On would be most logical.. But take me with you in your thoughts..

    • @alexbiketester
      @alexbiketester  Před 10 měsíci +4

      Interesting, if you really are going to go once or twice then maybe a neuron ON, and have a 170mm fork for it for those trips.... which is a great idea and i think i will try it to see how it works and make a video about it.... ;-)
      The Spectral is a great bike, but needs some descend to have lots of fun, i prefer the neuron for sure if im mainly riding flatish stuff. Whats great is i took the bike extreme to find the limits.

    Hi there
    Thanks for the comparisons, this is incredibly helpful! I am pretty certain that I'll buy a Canyon E-MTB due to the relatively low prices. Generally, I like a nimble and playful bike, I like to jump a lot. I will use the E-MTB for my local trails, which are essentially what you'd expect: Small jumps, tight corners, not too gnarly, etc. At the bottom of one local trail, there's a jump line however with quite a bit bigger jumps that are easily 4-5 meters in length. Is this something the Spectral can still handle or would you recommend going for the Strive to not take the risk of damaging the bike all too easily? Thanks in advance!

    This will be my first e-bike. I currently ride a ripmo af and I'm stuck between the spectral and the strive. I won't be doing alot of park so I'm looking for a do everything bike. From this video I'm thinking the spectral is a better fit. Any thoughts? And is the bosch motor in the strive that much better than the shimano? Thanks

    • @alexbiketester

      Do anything the Spectral would be ideal. For this type of use the Shimano motor is good, the new bikes come with the 801 motor which is good! tried it the other day.

    Buying my first e-bike at the start of November, really torn between the neuron and the spectral. Both in the CF 7 models. Price is the same. So it’s really just am going to find the neuron more fun in flatter flowing trails than the spectral? Or would be be silly for me not to get the spectral for the same price and still have fun and have enough bike for when I take it out to more technical stuff as I progress my skills?! So stuck any tips would be greatly appreciated. Love the content

    • @Mrjerkinmovement
      @Mrjerkinmovement Před 7 měsíci

      For context I’m completely new to MTB. And locally it’s just going to be single track, smooth riding. But the 900wh battery is telling me even for chill exploring the spectral could be the one?

    • @alexbiketester
      @alexbiketester  Před 7 měsíci

      Ok, thanks for the comment and support.
      The geometry is essentially the same, the neuron has a 29" wheel set, which gives different handling. The Spectral is more capable, it has slightly less rolling speed in my opinion. Of the cf 7 has the possibility to mount the 900 then that will give you incredible range.... Which depending on your local riding is a real consideration if you want to ride all day.
      The motors are different as well. Both good, but. Different sensation. If I was choosing I would go for the Spectral if you are choosing the 900 wh battery.

    Thank you for this very interesting video.
    There are currently great discounts on the Canyon website.
    the spectral on cf 9 is 5500€ and the neuron on cf 9 is 6000€.
    I will be tempted by the spectral which is 2000€ on sale but your opinion on the neuron also makes me think. the weight of the spectral is 24.5kg and it seems to me that the weight of the neuron which is lower is an advantage? What do you think is the best deal? what is the best value for money for you?

    Amazing Video! I have the Neuron On 7 and I simply love the bike! Like you said his good for having fun rides with friends ,etc. But I'm considering upgrading just to have more range. My battery is a 630w and a range in profile 2 stock gave me a max of 102km and 1700 meters high. But that's the limit. And I still have fun but after 5h+ of riding and managing the Battery i was exhausted. But Done more that 2000km on the neuron and in my opinion is an underrated bike! If this bike was able to have a range extender, or a longer battery i never though of changing for a long time. Keep Ripping! 🤟

      I have done multiple climbing tests, but its very subjective, the neuron part of the video has riding on flat trails which also go up and down.
      Specifically I can address this point in the third video commentary i I mention in the description. But each bike has been tested by me on the channel, so you can find that info in those tests. All three climb very similarly so no one will be disappointed, however the descent capabilities have far more influence on the overall feel of the bikes than the climbing in my experience.

      @@topchoice1621 I wouldn't say for every trail. I deliberately took them to a trail that will test the vertical capacity of the geometry let's say. In those conditions you could feel the difference clearly with each bike. The Strive could fly over stuff that you had to think about with the Neuron, which was out of its comfort zone. All good bikes, there is no perfect way to compare in my opinion after years and years of comparing bikes and test riding. So much subjective stuff going on.
