  • In this video I wanted to share with you what happened with my Can-Am Spyder F3 and the Extended Warranty. There are different levels of the extended warranty for your Can-Am Ryker, Spyder F3, F3 Limited, and Spyder RT when you go to purchase a new Spyder or Ryker. Fortunately for me, I had the extended warranty that covered all of costs of repair for a transmission issue. If it wasn't for this I would not have been able to fix my Spyder.
    Hopefully I have covered what you want to know about the extended warranties for either a Ryker, Spyder F3, or Spyder RT models. I highly recommend considering an extended warranty when purchasing your new Spyder or Ryker.

    Thanks for watching!

    They didn’t offer the extended warranty or I would have taken it. I wonder if I can buy it now? Sure glad you had it!

      In part one I talked about that a little. You can buy an extended warranty if you are still under the original factory warranty. Sometimes if you buy something from a dealer and dont need financing to get it and pay cash, they think you have money to blow. They wont offer the extended warranty because they can get the money from you who paid all cash if it breaks. This way they can charge you more. The warranty holds them to a certain price legally. Something wrong with the bike "oh, hes got the money to fix it" mentality. The Spyder can be expensive to own if you treat it badly, or if you want the best accessories for it.

      Moabman is correct, you can purchase the extended warranty up until your factory warranty runs out. My dealer offered the extended warranty, gave me all the pamphlet materials for the extended warranty, and I chose to wait, my preference was to hold on to the cash until towards the end of my factiry warranty, which is Sept 2022. If I had any doubts about it, this video reinforces my decision to purchase the extended warranty.
      Great info Moabman, and thank you for sharing your experience. 😁👍👍

      Thank you Spyder Wayne for the nice comments! I appreciate you responding to 602 North as well. I always try to be knowledgeable but that doesn't always mean right! It is good when others comment and give current info or corrections! The Spyder community is a great one with everyone always helping others. To me it makes me happy to see others supporting fellow riders, so again thanks!!!!! I would like to know, if you do purchase an extended warranty how much it is. You don't have to be exact just say over $- - - - . The reason I ask is I am curious how much they charge after the bike is bought. You would be the first person I know who has done that! If you make a video about it would be awesome!

    Wow!! First of all, so sorry this happened to you...that's a long time to be without your Spyder! That metal part is huge and to think it snapped like that!! Yes, that clunking sound shifting into reverse is rather loud. So glad you had the extended warranty to cover this. We had to replace the transmission in our truck last year...huge expense! Very much appreciate all that you share with us! So informative! 💚💚💚🏍🏍🏍

    So happy that you got the trike back and that the warranty covered most of it. That's always a funky feeling when your pride and joy goes down. I'll be sure to get my warranty in place, thanks.

    Glad you got it back finally. I have heard of a couple issues with 2018 Spyders having that same issue as yours. I have the same extended warranty as you do. Hoping I wont have the same issue but its comforting knowing it will be covered.

      Thank you, I did miss it! It does shift better than when I first bought it. Still makes noise but is smoother and doesn't jerk as much when going to reverse. The gears I show are what they replaced. I believe reverse and 3rd were replaced and the the shift gear. Hopefully this will not happen again!

    This is a very common issue, brp are aware of it and there’s spyders sitting in peoples garages that brp won’t fix. Look at some of the videos on here. Can am spyder gearbox issues.

      Good to know and thanks for sharing! I knew it was common in the UTV vehicles before this happened, and not just in the Can Am side by sides but all brands. It does happen a lot on offroading vehicles to. The way the Spyder clunks into reverse im surprised it isn't happening to all of them.

    How many miles on the Spider when it broke . Three years old and 2000 miles is one thing , 50,000 miles is another. I'd be pissed off either way since that part should never break . Unless MAJOR ABUSE or like you said , poor heat treating/defective part. Defective parts even out of warranty should be policed . But your at the mercy of the manufacturer. Making a video , posting it on social media and sending them the URL to it opens their eyes a lot , just say'n .👍 One more thing , always be nice! Being an ASS and the door closes, most of the time .🧐

    • @MOABMAN
      @MOABMAN  Před 2 lety

      It is agravating no matter what mileage your at because it takes away from your trust in the vehicle to get you from point A to B. It is at 7000 miles. I was out of work during the Covid shutdown and was out of work for almost 2 years. During that time it was local trips and roughly 30 miles away from beaches and things to do in CA. So it has not been abused mileage wise as well. I usually only put 3000 to 5000 miles a year on any vehicle i have so nothing out of the norm for the motorcycle. And for being hateful......im to old for that as well!
      Thank you for comment and support!

    Are you not supposed to feel the bike “shift” into gears or reverse? When I first start the bike ad go in drive or reverse, it feel like it slams. But only the first time after it’s started. 2015 f3-s with 6500 miles.

    • @MOABMAN
      @MOABMAN  Před 2 lety +1

      You do feel it a little no matter what. Mine now, I barely feel it, before it would slam. That is why I mentioned it. There was a huge difference. Mine slammed every time though not just at startup. I use to feel it in the seats and handlebars, now just the handlebars only. I test drove others and even RT and they all clunk. I got used to it and didnt notice how bad it got though. The first time I shifted into reverse after it was fixed I couldn't believe it. I use to feel all gears and going to second was starting to get worse. Now when I drive it, all there is is just the clink noise. I am actually wanting to try a RT again to see if there is a difference

    • @RFspyder007
      @RFspyder007 Před 2 lety +1

      Let the bike warmup and get oil through the engine first, maybe 2-5 min and it will still have the clunk in reverse but it will be better for the engine.

      @@MOABMAN did you ask why it shifts into gear much smoother, and is it something they can adjust before something brakes?

    • @MOABMAN
      @MOABMAN  Před 2 lety

      They replaced three gears so that is why it shifts better. There really isnt anything to be able to adjust the way it is made. The way reverse is made kinda makes sense as to why that gear makes the loudest clunk. I truly think that it was a heat treating problem with the shaft. It just looks so much like other things i have seen that had that issue. Doesnt mean that is what it is but to me that is what i think.

      Im at 7,000 miles. That's what is sad is its still at low miles. We always go to the beach or a long trip on the weekends so I am grateful that it didn't break down then.
