Syd Mead You are the Man of the 21st Century!...I too went to the School of Design in Pasadena, Ca. when the School was still in a Residential Home and the Design Studio was in the Garage!...Do You remember that? Well I wasn't able to finish at the time, but I did enjoy myself!...God Bless!
Humbling to finally hear his voice, I should have known he would be quite articulate and lively. Many of the things I think are awesome today are sourced from his Wizardry. Laughed hard near the end on what design he's glad not to be part of.
He designed the most unforgettable gundam the mustache gundam (aka turn a gundam)
I worked with John Reinhart at Ford Design when I was young. He had several authentic Syd Mead renderings. Mr. Reinhart was a Vice President at US Steel...and he is the one who commissioned Syd Mead
To create his famous US Steel Books. Syd actually worked at Ford Design for a couple of years. Way before my time...but he was a famous talent even then. What a legend.

He certainly had a fondness for long, low, sweeping designs in his automobiles. In the video, there featured is a silver sleek, wagon-like vehicle which very well should have been the Pontiac Aztec. Toyota produced another such concept just before 1980, with better aesthetics and a camping conversion in its cargo area.
Met him on a few occasions...seminars...book signings....what a phenomenal talent. Totally genius. Humble
Not pretentious at all. Very approachable. He let me sit in his silver Mercedes gull wing at center for creative studies in Detroit where he taught. Just a really cool guy.
Such a critical thinker. I have his poster book I bought back in the '80s. I used my monies to buy food to purchase it.
That fact that he can create these illustration with gouache paint is incredible.

Im a big fan of this guy. But electric cars and cars knowing where all other cars are, not so much. The future will be many things, who knows. Syd has his take on it, might be different from others. It is from mine.
Well be lucky to have horse's in 50years...nevermind flying cars...
