- Interview with Syd Mead on Turn A Gundam, conducted by Robert Napton for the canned Bandai Entertainment release. Later released with Right Stuf's DVD and BDs of Turn A. Go buy them on Right Stuf: RS has done a great job with their Gundam releases.
Thanks to everybody involved with creating Turn A Gundam, as well as Tsukinomayu for his phenomenal Turn A resources.
Rest in peace, Syd Mead.
I love when he brings up Dianna Counter and the FLAT. He didnt look at it as just some paycheck and immediate forget everything afterward.
Him talking about being inspired to finish the details on the turn x while watching the cherry blossom leaves fall in the mountains was great. It sounds like a great time in his life and a series he really enjoyed working on.
Turn X design is so incredible
Turn A was utterly unique among the similar looking Gundam suits, and I still think the design hasn't changed that much even with outrageous ones like Xi, which is essentially gundam with a lot of bulk. I do want to see a more unique design like Turn A but I understand Bandai wanting to not alienate both old and new fans.
The Aerial does look pretty weird compared to the UC gundams. The closest thing is the G-Self
Super cool. As more new into the Gundam and a life of modeling this was great.
6:00 It was used for Zeta Gundam soundtrack; in fact, you can find the songs on CZcams Music or Spotify with his art of Gundam Mk II
I love the Turn A, and all the moon race suits.
i'm a bit sad they didn't get more into the yamato 2520 designs, there were so many ships, fighter aircraft, and alien tech that i truly think are his best work
Great interview! Very interesting.
