    I see Tomino is being his "cheerful" self as always.

    Tomino-san's eyes sparkle and he smiles with enthusiasm when he talks about passing the baton to the next generation.

      Tomino has been really big on the idea of passing things on to the next generation. He considers that concept to be a fundamental aspect of historical progress.

    Tomino is one of my favorite mecha anime creators next to Ryosuke Takahashi, Shoji Kawamori, and Shinji Aramaki! His stories have great gusto and are truly hardcore in showing the true cost of war. Not to mention he makes a strong case against state power and dehumanization in his earlier works.

    This is a really good interview with the creator Gundam. Gundam is not just about pew pew laser rifles and swords with cool robots but a tale of courption, the danger of weapons, and can we achieve world peace despite humanity being violent.
    One more thing Tomino did more stuff before Gundam like Zambot 3 aka one of the first deconstruction of Mecha anime, as well as some comedy ones like daitarn 3. That was before Gundam after Gundam he created Ideon one of the most darkest anime of all time. And dubine aka one of the first Isekai anime series ever made.

    Also, I find Tomino's new view of space habitation to be quite fascinating, though in my personal view, could be tweaked. I say that it would be best to allow for people who live in industrial cities to move up into space, although via public consent, and allow indigenous populations in Australia(Goorie, Koori, Tiwi, ect), Asia (be it the Zomia, Mongolians, Ainu, Hazara, Kurds, ect.), Africa (such as the Igbo, Xeer, Kalahari ect.), the Americas (such as the survivors of the Dakotas, Lakotas, Cherokee, Squamish, 6 Nations, Mayans, ect.), and Europe (in particular, the Romani peoples), should be allowed to regain their original lost territory. That being 781 billion peoples be they nomadic or agrarian, should be allowed to regain their lands and people in industrial agrarian nations should move into space (preferably, I would propose an anarchial society in space).

    • @CosmoShidan
      @CosmoShidan Před rokem +3

      In hindsight, I believe Tomino would share the view about allowing indigenous cultures that practice pastoral, foraging, and horticultural nomadic ways of life, to traditional agriculture to stay on earth. Like in ZZ and Hathaway's Flash, he does point out the shortcomings to force humankind into space without considering their ethnic ancestry and history to their lands.

    I have watched a lot of Tomino series and movies start to finish. I have even read some of his novels. And out of all of it, I think the fifty episode Zeta Gundam is his best work.

    • @Devilman6066
      @Devilman6066 Před 2 lety +6

      To be more exact with how much of Yoshiyuki Tomino's work I have consumed. I have read the original Mobile Suit Gundam trilogy of novels, watched the original Mobile Suit Gundam TV series, the Mobile Suit Gundam movie trilogy edit, Zeta Gundam, the Zeta Gundam film trilogy edit, ZZ Gundam, Char's Counterattack, Victory Gundam and all of Ideon, including both film edits. I gave up on most of his other work over time, due to his issues with pacing, uninteresting characters, and poorly executed plots. My recommendation is, watch the original Gundam movie trilogy, and all fifty episodes of Zeta Gundam. Then Char's Counterattack. The rest is mostly, painfully forgettable. ZZ Gundam is average at best. A lot of fans say it gets better halfway through. I say it's a five out of ten, even after it picks up. Victory Gundam has it's moments, but does not have anything over the vastly superior Zeta Gundam. Ideon is pretty damn good when it gets going, and just as groundbreaking as Gundam, but the TV series can be frustratingly repetitive, and it is very dated. The second Ideon film is also very good, and one of the most shocking anime I have ever seen. In a good way.

      @@Holder51 I have a question for fans of U.C. gundam(I don't know if you are one or not) but this always makes me curious. So the question goes like this...
      If "Turn A" Gundam has a universe called C.C/C.E(Correct Century/Current Era) that is the age/era after U.C.
      In what year did U.C end and give way to C.C/C.E.? All I know is U.C. The longest is the "Victory Gundamn" series because it is set in U.C.105.
      Edit: I edited my wrong sentence which should be C.C. & C.E.

    Cautionary tale whatever...
    No excuse for his constant sadistic killing of women and children in his works.
    Its truly disheartening that having worked with Tezuka this man chose to go 180 and walk the opposite path which would lead him to the likes of say Nagai Go.
