Super cool. As more new into the Gundam and a life of modeling this was great.
Turn A looks so ugly from a design and story telling perspective. So many dumb lines and shapes that mean nothing. Just look at where the pilot sits, unarmored on the front on a WAR machine.
RIP Right Stuf
Thank you
Hello, pineapplecombo,… any chance of you combining these Mead BladeRunner segments onto a DVD - to purchase ?
I have about 30 Gundam Model Kits and when on display Turn A stands out and it usually becomes a Conversation Starter...
I love the Turn A, and all the moon race suits.
I'm 38 Im married I have a stable job and I don't know who I am
I never like turn a Gundam design but I Syd try his best
Its not the best but its the most unique and for that it gets the best in its own right, also theres been a much recent resurgence of Turn A designs being revived or added like the vodom pod from build divers re rise and that kit was one of the coolest build divers kits despite it not being based on an existing kit, also gundam seed astray delta is inspired from syd mead and they look rad af, especially the mars faction in cosmic era which were all based on turn A designs
If you look at his early sketches he did draw it like a normal gundam would look but at the end of the day, it was Tomino's decision on what it would look like.
*"For the canned Bandai Entertainment released"* Hold, a f*cking minute.... Your telling me that Bandai at some point planned a US release of Turn A Gundam !? How and why was this released cancelled ? We could've gotten a english dub 😢...
I think it's because of After War X's failure.
@@-mcpie-6802 I don’t know way After War Gundam X failed either. It’s a great show, it’s a shame it was cancelled earlier, and had a truncated end.
The fact that most weebs hates turn a Gundam design irritate me so much.
Same, is one of the better designed too, function wise makes a lot of sense in the universe, poor mustache mech gets hate for only that
Pearls before swine, my friend, pearls before swine.
I’m a huge Gundam fan, I own all the Series, and many models. The Turn A design is one of my favorites. Yeah your typical weeb, hates it. But typical weebs tend to have poor taste anyway.
@@divinestrike00x78 true. Especially the toxic weeaboos who worship anime.
Turn A designs are pretty good, imagine if it was animated in todays animation, it would look even cooler, like the flats and vodom pods, heck the vodom from gundam build divers re rise was so freaking cool despite there not being a vodom pod kit that it was based on, like imagine if we actually got a turn A line for most of its designs, like the Mahiroo, Sumo, vodom, and flats
Turn A was utterly unique among the similar looking Gundam suits, and I still think the design hasn't changed that much even with outrageous ones like Xi, which is essentially gundam with a lot of bulk. I do want to see a more unique design like Turn A but I understand Bandai wanting to not alienate both old and new fans.
The Aerial does look pretty weird compared to the UC gundams. The closest thing is the G-Self
This was a really interesting interview, and we are lucky that he sat down to do such an extensive recorded chat shortly before he passed away. I would (very selfishly) have wanted to hear even more about his thoughts regarding the Gundam design ethos up until that point and if he realized what a radical break what he did with the Turn A was with every main design that had been done up until that point, and what he thought of the audience reception to it (to my understanding, it was initially negatively received but has grown in popularity since then).
I bought the $80 book.
6:00 It was used for Zeta Gundam soundtrack; in fact, you can find the songs on CZcams Music or Spotify with his art of Gundam Mk II
I'm glad Blade Runner 2049 was released 2 years before Syd passed away. Though, I should find out what he personally thought about the film.
interesting interview with the futurist. i used to love seeing syds work in popular science and omni mags
Looked up what an omni mag was and am now grateful for mentioning them. When I was a kid my grandma had some older books still and a few of them had these awesome futursigic futuristic, futurisgic settlements, futuristic vintage diver, or vintage diver drawings I will NEVER forget or stop missing. Would you be so kind as to drop any more artists/mags/books/blogs/styles/resources?
I find him so patient with that kid. Must've been his great nephew or something.
Maybe it's a fortunate blessing, perhaps in a way all of us can relate, resent, relay and remember, to simply have a patient father, one from whom we can learn the lesson that we have it within ourselves to create our greatest teacher; up, down, through the ages. Or, perhaps it is simply as you said; the good nephews report the betters of our natures.
i'm a bit sad they didn't get more into the yamato 2520 designs, there were so many ships, fighter aircraft, and alien tech that i truly think are his best work
Thank you for posting this.
I love when he brings up Dianna Counter and the FLAT. He didnt look at it as just some paycheck and immediate forget everything afterward.
Him talking about being inspired to finish the details on the turn x while watching the cherry blossom leaves fall in the mountains was great. It sounds like a great time in his life and a series he really enjoyed working on.
This is awesome!
Great interview! Very interesting.
This guy is very interesting
great interview! man Id love to see some photos of Mead partying in Japan =D
I’m impressed I haven’t seen this before, I’m a huge fan of turn a style and design, so this interview is very interesting to me, and also very well done, hope this manages to take off and become more popular, great work overall.
excuse my language but this is fuckin neat
Absolute legend!
Thank you so much for this This is absolutely fascinating and I'm learning so much
Turn X design is so incredible
Hey when did you record these? They are amazing
These are most likely from the Turn A Gundam special features on dvd or blu ray
