- In this video, Dr Irfan Ahmed PT will explain Sciatica which is due to Slipped Disc or Disc Protrusion. Common symptoms of Sciatica are pain in the back, hips, thighs and calf muscles. Common disc protrusions are L4, L5 and S1. When the Sciatic nerve gets compressed due to disc bulging or protrusion, the pain along the Sciatic nerve spreads. This condition is called Sciatica. The patient is in very severe pain, unable to sit, stand and feels difficulty at turning in bed. In this video Dr Irfan will guide the complete treatment of Sciatica. If Physiotherapy exercises fail prior 6 weeks, then the second option is Epidural Injection and if all conservative treatment option fails, then as a last option, surgery is performed which may include Laminactomy or Disectomy.
