In early 2023 I had an unexpected illness and was admitted to hospital for 8 days. While I was healing my Sister and Brother In Law went to my place to look after my cat Pepper who was otherwise on her own for the duration. She's a small Black short-haired cat who I adopted from a rescue place. She's lived with me for 7 years now and is very close. I work from home and when I am out it is never for more than a few hours. So for me to be gone for 8 days with no preparation would have been a big shock for her. Anyway, when I got out of Hospital and got home she was literally all over me and didn't leave me alone for days. She loves to sleep on my lap when am chilled out in front of the TV and follows me around the flat. She's a lovely cat. Have had cats for most my life and they all have their own personalities and are all a lot of fun to hang out with.

My cat talks my ears off when I come home from work. He even tries to go into my backpack. I kind of want to find a way to get a special backpack for him. But he fears strangers. I love him so much. I'm omw home now, I can't wait to see him.

When I left for 18 months, my cat would sit by the door waiting for me when I usually came home. When I called my parents, he would look for me. When I got home, he, at first, was distant but quickly understood that it was me. He was not happy I had left him for that long period but he was happy to see me. My current cat gets clingy when I come home after being gone for a few weeks (I work away from home from time to time).

Two solutions come to mind. 1) Get an animal companion for your cat. 2) A less practical solution would be...stay home. I did get some xhuckles from this video, because basically that is how cats think.

I did get another cat for my cat. Now, when i have to go out for a doctor’s appt or to “ hunt” for food at the market, my cat doesn’t get lonely. Luckily the 2 cats quickly became best friends. And when i come home, they both come to greet me. I can’t go on a vacation, though. I don’t trust anyone to take care of them like I do.

1:20 I once packed a box of items (books etc.) because I was going away to another city to study and mine and my parents' cat just climbed into the box and looked straight at me as if to say: "Don't you dare!"

My 9 year old boys have always had the same cat sitter. They still show signs of missing me. Asher will not show him any affection to cat sitter until day 12 of when I once went away for 15 days ❤

I've just come back from a holiday and my cat is presenting with most of these, along with laryngitis due to not talking for two weeks. He has also groomed so much he has no fur on his belly and the back of his legs. The cat sitter didn't tell me because she didn't want to worry me. This has never happened before and the vet said separation anxiety and stress can worsen with age. He's 11 in August and I don't know if I can ever go away again. I feel like a terrible cat mamma 😢

I had to take care of my sister-in-law's cat for 2 months, and while doing that I ended up pulling a Sign 12. She always fed him in the evening between 6 and 8pm. Well, I had to drive my housemate to work and would just feed the cat when I got home. He started to think that meant I was going to feed him anytime I came in through the front door!

Cats and rabbits definitely miss their owners when they are well bonded. My bro moved home after his first marriage broke up, and he had this cat. He had to go away for a few days to work out of town, and when he returned the cat was definitely excited. She meowed like she was trying to exclaim something.

Huh well there is another sign perhaps more likely with an older kitty. My fluff is 19 and we had a roommate of which my fluff had bonded with while I worked at another location off and on. Roommate moved on and I am not traveling anymore, however, my fluff appears to miss the roommate by going to the room the roommate was in and meowing then staring at me as if to say "where?" No issues with litter box use or damage of anything.....just this forlorn look my fluff gets and his meow at the room. Age maybe? I just pick him up, give him lots of love and try to engage him in activity like a ride in the cat stroller or a toy, or sometimes food.

I had to leave my two cats at our dachs for the vacation time with my relatives, came to visit them a month later and one I raised since he was a small baby just ignored me most of the time, didn't come to greet me and started yelling when I picked him up, additionally he scratched me when I wanted to pet him. Those are really heartbreaking signs that a cat doesn't give a single f about you 😢

He is upset and needs the space. They will forgive you after rubbing all their scent again. Cats sometimes don’t even remember their own siblings if they smell more like vet office instead of how they were before leaving the house.

@@mph1ish So you really think you own your cat, do you?
Sure it's not the cat who owns you?
Your cat is a living being. Not a machine, or part of the furniture.
Other than that, I don't give a crap what other people think.

Hi, fellow feline lovers. If we look at this under a brain chemistry scope we will see that our feline friends have many of the same neurotransmitters, chemicals and hormones as we do. When we enjoy a person's company or have fun when playing sports or games, our brains produce large amounts of dopamine and serotonin, known as the happy chemicals that the brain produces during these periods of fun and happiness. That said, our felines produce these exact same chemicals when they are attached to their pets. Dopamine is strongly linked to addiction, everything that makes our brains produce massive doses of this chemical, makes us want to do it more. Like $€X or drugs, for example. To out it simply, our felines become addicted to our presence and our playfulness.
