I think an underestimated moment in Ron's early years is how he was able to resist the mirror or erised.
Dumbledore told Harry how hard it is for grown men to resist the temptations of the mirror, yet Ron, who was showed his deepest desire of outshining his siblings, still had enough emotional maturity to recognise that the mirror was potentially dangerous when he tried to convince Harry not to return to it. He's much smarter than given credit for.
he is a genuinely clever guy in his own way with natural instincts but literally every intelligent or brave thing either went to harry or hermionie and he was just used to be a link to the magical world

Ron is underrated in the movies.
Anyone who has read the books would know that in the movie, he's pushed into corners by Harry and Hermoine.
But he's an amazing, brave character who is by Harry and Hermoine 's sides through thick and thin.
I stand up for the real Ron Weasley.
i guess the screen writer have some fault to this. he liked hermione's character and its painful to see some lines from the first book that was suppose to be said by him yet they gave it to hermione.
There are reasons why people don't like him in in the movie:
1. He is useless
2. He is just there for comic relief

I hate how dirty the films did Ron Weasley. In the books, he was defined as being compassionate and always there for Harry, but occasionally got jealous after living in his shadow for so long. He was believable and nuanced. In the films, a lot of Ron's achievements end up going to Hermoine. It's very clear how much the films favored Hermoine over Ron. In the books, Hermoine also had flaws such as being shy in bossy. But in the films, she's very confident and powerful, and I can't even think of any character flaws the movie Hermoine had. The screenwriter for the majority of the films, Steve Kloves, admitted to favoring Hermoine over Ron. This is okay, we all have favorites, but Steve Klovis built up Hermoine by tearing down Ron.

I mean nothing against her - she's the perfect Actress for her given that alot of Films "Pretty up" Characters, but her Transformation in Book 4 lost so much of the power.

Ron is by far the most relatable character. He feels like such an underdog all the time. Undeserving or love and attention, unworthy. But Harry chose his friendship over everyone else's. Time and time again Ron proved he was worthy of his friendship. His loyalty to Harry was unshakeable. He suffered with him. Lost his brother and nearly his own life all for Harry's cause. When Harry was ready to give up he kept pushing him. And after seven years since their first meeting on the train to hogwarts he proudly stood by his side and faced Voldimort. Ron was a true Gryfinndor. Loyal, brave and true.

He's my favourite character...he was kind, funny and always stood up for his friends. He welcomed Harry and Hermione into his family and cared for them even though his family was poor. Even though he was overshadowed by his brothers most of his life,at school he still supported Harry in quidditch and always praised Hermione's intelligence. It makes me so angry that the movies made Ron out to be a sidekick... He bought most of the humour in the books and was the literal heart of their group...
That's why Hermoine chose him. As an emotional person, Hermoine need someone who can comfort her. Ron's goofiness always cheers up Hermoine and Hermoine's intelligence is needed for Ron's funny character. They equally complimented each other and made a lovely couple, as you know opposites attract each other.

Just an observation that Ron achieved everything he saw in the mirror of erised(except the head boy badge). He won the house cup, the quidditch cup and was a prefect. He even got his name on the chocolate frog card, which none of his brothers managed to do. He even got an award for the special services to the school.

the movie versions are far less believable for me as they went on it got worse and worse..
the books, captured alot of that "group of friends who are, just, friends, regardless of what outsiders say" thing that was, the only kind of actual friends i had most of my youth....or life really....
rons the "heart", for all his faults, caring about his friend/family, those close to him, is just who he is, the fact he always lets people get to him and has shaky confidence just makes it more belieable to me because.. that guy was me and my friends in turn.. in the book.. if you pay attention, they all are at times the "Smart one" and the "Slow one" rons the one who is the source of more humor, but thats not all he is, genuinely men and my friends made jokes about harry potter lunitics but, all became fans of the Stephen Fry version of the audio books, and to a much much lesser degree the movies...they are fun, but... after the first 2 they diverge more from the books, the first 2 still did ron dirty but..it got so much more cringe for them all "shes got nice skin" *cringe every time i think of it*

they did that and gave him weird lines that made him look mean. like in poa, snape insulted Hermione, but Ron stood up for her. in the movies, he said "he's got a point you know" for literally no reason at all. They took away all of Hermione's faults and made her look like a perfect angel and made ron look like a petty bully. I don't think the writers just liked Hermione, they hated Ron.

Ron is a true Gryffindor. I mean, he's incredibly brave, loyal, and very impulsive. He is reckless but mainly when his friends are involved.
Are we just gonna forget the part where Ron gave Harry a book called " 12 fail-safe ways to charm witches " for his 17th bday. And then proceeded to say "If only I'd had this last year I'd have known exactly how to get rid of Lavender and I would've known how to get going with......" Ron was going to say Hermione!

@@kassandraconk1763 I dunno he was pretty upset at Harry when he caught him and Ginny kissing. He didn’t want Harry to lead her on or get her hopes because of how sad Ginny was at him dumping her. But I think once Voldemort was defeated and the war over, Ron (along with the rest of the Weasley family) would have given him their blessing.

The golden trio would not be the same without Ron, he is the glue that kept them together. Ron is my favourite character and it’s upsetting that they gave his best moments to other characters in the movies.

Ron is seriously underrated. He is really brave and strong deep down. His sacrifice in Philosophers/Sorcerers Stone was a great moment. Also Ron destroying the horcruxe. The movies did him so dirty and he is one of my favorite characters.

I watched this other video about Ron and Hermione's relationship and I personally liked how he was called the Knight, if we think about it he really was a knight. He sacrificed himself in the wizards chess game playing the role of the knight and every time Hermione would get bullied he always stood up for her and tried to get justice for her even if he didn't always succeed (like the eat slugs example) but that didn't stop him from continuing to defend her every time, he also saved Harry a couple of times and never cowered from accompanying him on all those dangerous missions and I specifically liked when he went into the forest to find the spider and faced his biggest fear in order to help Harry, help Hermione, Hagrid and we'll everyone else who was falling victim to the monster at the school. He was extremely brave and very kind hearted despite sometimes feeling jealous of harry or his brothers. It's only normal, no one is perfect and negative emotions tend to get the best of everyone at some point, what's important is to get past them and not allow them to ruin you, your relationship with others, or do anything you regret.

Rowlings' character of Ron has always been the one that impressed me the most as he always had more against him personally, and had more serious internal demons than anyone else. He was always proving himself stronger in his compassion for others over his own self-view. While it's true that Harry grew up unloved, Ron had a worse time of it because he grew up in a loving household, but always got lost among the crowd of family. Even Harry was seen by his parents over himself and Ron never thought about how wrong that was. I've known a few Rons in my life and have always been impressed at their strength of character. Thank you for going over this amazing character!

I love in Goblet of Fire when Ron was complaining about himself accidentally giving Harry leprechaun gold. Shows that he really does care about Harry. An okay friend would just say, eh, I’ll pay you back later(and they never would most of the time)

I think it's awesome for Ron that in the end he wasn't just Harry potters friend or his brothers brother, but he was Ron Weasley, the one that destroyed Voldemorts horcruxs and helped kill him cause it probably helped his self esteem
Lavender had such a difficult life tbh, heartbroken by the guy she was obsessed with and then gets mauled by a werewolf less than a year later where she would die from her injuries
Not only that, but the guy she was in love with was only using her to get some other girl's attention. He didn't even love her in the first place.

Ron made out with her everywhere anywhere and called her his girlfriend. Ron actively refered to her as his girlfriend; she had no reason to think that he considered her otherwise.

People often say hermione is their fav out of the golden trio and Ron their least fav, but I happen to disagree. In book/movie #5, hermione says Ron has the emotional range of a teaspoon. Hermione is always cutting herself out to be smart, empathetic, flawless, and so much better than everyone else. Like gosh, hermione can be plenty insensitive for a lot of things. And of course the writers were unfair and portrayed hermione to be a flawless lead, but Ron to be a dumb and jealous sidekick. Ron is the heart of the group, and only true fans can see that.

I hate the fact that the movies gave Hermione Ron’s qualities and make him look like a dumb sidekick . They make poor talented Rupert just make faces and say stupid things all the time. I also hated the last scene in CoS when Hermione hugs him. It’s like Harry didn’t really care about Ginny and he just saved her to get his *darling* Hermione back. Also he knew she was just petrified. And she shakes hands with Ron because she can’t hug him. Another example of unnecessary addition is the scene where he tells his friends he would go get himself killed, Hermione hugs him crying while Ron just stares into space. They also do this with Ginny. She demands Harry to let her come with him on his mission to save Sirius but in the move Hermione says, “wE ArE In tHiS TOGETHER!!!” It makes me sick.
Also don't forget the dance scene 🙃. I was literally swearing at my head when that scene came up like wtf this scene is not in the books.. In the books Harry and Hermione did not talk when Ron left because he is the one who connects this 2 and Hermione is upset that Ron left them and her while in the movies it seemed like Hermione did not give a damn about Ron and also the torture scene in the books he was panicking but in the movies he just didn't give a damn about Hermione

Whenever they question there relationship they always blame Ron not Hermoine. They often ship people and leave Ron single like he is a waste of space. They only see the negative side of Ron and don't see the positive. They always tell that Ron argues with Hermoine. But they don't see how to protective Ron is towards Hermoine. People actually ship Dramoine and Harmoine but when Draco called Hermoine a Mudblood , what did Harry do?? But Ron immediately defended Hermoine by attacking Draco. Even in Deathly Hallows when Bellatrix tortured Hermoine , what did Draco do?? What did Harry do?? But Ron cried and begged Bellatrix to torture him instead . This shows how caring he is towards Hermoine. There r more moments were he defends Hermoine or stands up for her , rather than parts where he argues with her. People say when they get married they will always fight and argue but I think Ron will take care of Hermoine and Protect. He is a loyal friend to Harry and a protective boyfriend to Hermoine. I love Ron , he is the most beautiful hearted person 💗

I am myself a Harry Potter content creator and while researching on Ron's life for my video, I finally understand the amount of hardwork that you have to do to give us these wonderful videos.
I wish they make another adaptation in the future, this time a series. That way they can fix the movies' errors and include those parts and characters they couldn't include due to lack of time.

Ron is such a cool character. He's a comic relief in the first three movies but he became a fierce warrior later down the line.
It isn’t really Rupert’s fault that the movies made Ron look bad....it’s the director, he tells them what to do and say. I know that Rupert is amazing and his acting is great!
