    Hey Will, Thanks for this video! I was wanting a new Fanatec wheel and knew that it had to be 300mm. I had concerns that the R300 rim might be a little tight with the Endurance module but after seeing this video, you convinced me that it would work. I just received the rim, endurance module with the club sport universal hub and I am sure it will be my daily driver. Thanks

    Thanks for the video and explanation. I'm new to the Fanatec ecosystem having bought the Gran Turismo DD Pro. I probably would have just bought the DD Pro base but the only thing available was the Gran Turismo bundle so my impatience won out and I bought that knowing well I'll likely add a few other rims and put the Gran Turismo rim in a corner somewhere. • @Patrick-pr7pw
    @Patrick-pr7pw Před rokem

    I started off my Fanatec setup with the ClubSport Steering Wheel Round 1 V2 for Xbox, I liked the hub, but didn't realize how small the steering wheel was going to be, so I quickly went with an aftermarket wheel, but the thing I didn't like about that hub was the button modules sometimes loosen up and then you have to completely disassemble to tighten them, and I didn't like the way they mounted behind the steering wheel other than giving you the flexibility to add any after market wheel. I just ordered the button module endurance as the buttons are static and also gives you the sticks and additional buttons, but after it arrived I quickly found out that my aftermarket wheel doesn't mount due to the orientation of the buttons, so I ordered the Clubsport Lenkradkranz 320 as I didn't want the flat bottom wheel, hopefully that combo is comfortable, one main thing to note about the button module endurance that it is very limited as to which wheels work with it, I even went to a local car shop to find a new wheel and none of them fit and/or due to the design of the wheels like a deep dish wheel, the buttons would have been impossible to reach.

The reason I ask is that I want to do a bit of rally driving, GT3, etc, but being my first jump into sim racing I don't want to buy 2 wheels off the hop. Series X to start, then perhaps a PC later on, hence the Xbox specific hub. Thanks!

    This video is nice. I am in a situation that i want to upgrade in the near future. I have a CSL elite with a stock wheel. This si pretty nice. But i want to go for the next step. I think that the CSL DD is not a good upgrade. It maybe is a little smoother. But it is not much stronger. 6 nm vs 5-8. I am looking for atleast 10nm+. Don't need 20+ tough.
    Simucube goes trough my mind but i like one software layer with good support for all games. Also the steering wheels are to expensive with simucube. So then the DD1 maybe? Well.... i have the feeling that fanatec will replace DD1 & DD2 in near future because there are some problems with those wheelbases. And for that price..... i am hoping for a clubsport DD or podium DD wheelbase in the near future. And also, wait on the new quick release 2.0 version. Because currently there is some flex in the quickrelease. i want to by a Fanatec F1 wheel but also waithing on the new quick release system. Because i don't want to buy a F1 wheel now, and then spend another 100 euro on a new quickrelease 6 months down the road. So basicy, i am just waithing for new gear and my CSL elite can serve me maybe 1 more year. And that is just fine because the CSL elite is still a pretty nice wheelbase to have.
    Do you guys think the clubsport DD will come soon? And will the DD1&2 be replaced in the next, lets say 12-18 months?

    Hi Will, yet another fantastic video packed with loads of great info.
    I do however have a question.
    In the video you say (& show) the Fanatec R300 wheel with the Advanced paddle module the same as the Porsche 320mm version, but a few weeks ago (I realise your video was from a year ago hence I'm wondering if there have been some changes made) Fanatec support sent me a message stating "Unfortunately, neither the Podium Advanced Paddle Module nor the Button Module Endurance is compatible with the CSL Steering Wheel R300 V2." yet wasn't that EXACTLY what you were showing in your PODIUM section of the video ??? (or have I missed something ?)

    • @ryandingler8969
      @ryandingler8969 Před 8 měsíci +1

      The Podium R300 wheel WILL work with it. I believe there was some misinformation from Fanatec. The "CSL Steering Wheel R300 V2" seems to be referring to the Bundle. The rim is a "Podium wheel rim R300" and would definitely work. You would need the advanced button module, a podium hub, magnetic shifters, along with the podium R300 wheel. Or use a Clubsport Universal hub and remove the bottons, using the module instead.

    Am i wrong that your wrong about not using a aftermarket rim on a fanatec base? Go on their website and they have a fanatec podium universal adapter, which works on ALL fanatec bases and has the little chip that tells the motor a fanatec wheel is on there even though it's just the gold metal part you were pointing at that connects the wheel with the base,
    Fanatec drilled 9 holes, into the connecter peice with the chip to tell the well to give FFB, this means you can mount ANY WHEEL with the normal pattern + the other pattern idk the name. Even on Fanatecs OWN website they say "you can mount any aftermarket wheel you want or even real wheels as long as it fits the holes to screw it on, even Fanatecs wheels, this means you can mount wheels for OSW Direct drive systems and connect them with a USB to use the buttons like a OSW user would".

The bulk-model Universal Hub thou... where do I start. First if your game is set to have certain number button to be the OK button, let's say BUTTON1. You don't have it. There's no button 1. If you can remap the buttons then who cares but us Dirt Rally1 guys, we're fu***d. The gear selectors. Flappy flap mushmush. Old G27 has better gear flappyflaps. Gonna upgrade to the McLaren GT3, just don't know what to get for driving BeamNG and other driving sims, WRC or use the D300 but get the Universal Hub v2?

    Best option in my opinoin is to buy a real wheel, Sabelt ect. I was unimpressed with the Fanatec drift wheel rim quality (abrasive stitching and leather didn't feel great) but was happy with the other Fanatec clubsport and mag paddles. Happy as can be with a leather momo on the clubsport hub and a Sabelt SW-833 on a podium hub with the advanced paddles and button module. Had the Porsche wheel on order but cancelled due to poor quality of my drift wheel rim..

    I really do wish that Fanatec would move away from the 7 segment displayed. It makes the wheels feel cheap and outdated. That is why the McLaren wheel is so nice, it has the oled display. If I’m spending $300+ on a wheel I want a full display, not a 7 segment one.
