If you're a Volvo fan you'll know that, historically speaking, this is one of the most important cars they've ever made. The T-5R changed the direction of the entire company at the time, adding performance and "cool factor" on top of safety and quality.
Ah yes, soon it was bought by Ford.
As an 850R owner, I can fully appreciate the level of coolness ❄
You have an 855R or 854R? I have a black on black USDM spec 854R
@@dmtonxbox3925 855R - @Scotti159 on Instagram if you wanna check it out
@@irvings159 sadly don’t use IG anymore :( that’s awesome however! I’m really looking for a wagon, hell even just a regular 850 turbo wagon would do it for me
I 2nd that...96 for me
As a 95 t5r Estate I call 😎
It looks nice , getting a little hard finding old volvos in nice condition.
Also like the saab 9000 aero from the same time
Holy shit what a piece of art on wheels. That colour is absolutely breathtaking.
My old neighbor had a station wagon T5R, he was also one of the drivers in BTCC for volvo, joined him for a few rides in that car :-) lots of fun.
Fun fact - in Australia that paint colour was called Faded Yellow.
Yellow Swedish Brick of Power
BTCC ❤
Another wonderful video Peter.
Sad to see it go so soon, but I greatly respect your commitment to keeping the car original! I have the same 'modify ALL the things' tendency on my cars and this car would have been a huge test of my willpower. Hopefully the new owner will love it even more than you already do!
The most good looking Volvo ever made, it's like a masterpiece 😍
I love this car!!! I had a poster of it. Love your content Peter!!!
I had a 1995 volvo 850 T. i missed that car, it was so much fun.
I love this car! One day I will own one in the wagon version!!!!
Riktigt fint skick. kul att du har den just i den delen av världen med =)
Ljudet från 5cyl motorn är så skön! Vanliga V70n till och med. :)
The styling has aged very well - both the exterior and the interior. Very handsome.
Love these cars, but here in Australia very hard to find, especially with low milage. Nice car dude
It does have Alcantara and it looks like the ODO is broken (normal issue).
It is actually amaretta and not alcantara, not a huge difference though.
Really nice condition of that car! Wow!
A masterpiece!
Had a green 95 t5 i loved it as soon as I looked at it. Did bilstein and ipd springs with their sway bars. I put two sets of stock rotors on and warped them quickly. So I added decent drilled rotors and hawk street pads and never had another problem. Mine was an automatic and they where known to have a weak parking pile (pin) mine actually became disengaged and rolled down my brothers driveway into a rather large spruce tree. And that was the end of my straight clean green machine. Beat its bent up carcass for another month or so and parted it out. Mine also had the motorsports badge beside the 850 badge.
Mycket fin bil! Kul att se
People over in the UAE love driving a rare car which no-one else has. Often they go for a supercar but this guy has a big brain and drives a volvo😎
those were really cool cars. can't find one in that condition any more.
lemons like this can only be found in japan
Beautiful.
Three things i’m just pointing out so that you are aware:
1. The spare wheel on these should also be a titan rim.
2. The stereo I believe is not the original one, it should say ”premium sound system” in gold on the stock one.
3. The Pirelli P zeros are impossible to buy today, however there are somewhat similar pirellis out there.
Amazing car in a amazing condition - fun to see!
I found one FINALLY for sale in the USA, only to be gutted it was rusted on the frame rail despite very good paint.
Gorgeous car!
Really nice example of the t5r.
My dream build
Such a damn cool car, in amazing condition, and now owned by you,who understands mechanical sympathy and cares enough to preserve it! It's the Nice story we NEED in these troubled times! P.S. I think it sits really nicely personally, no need to drop it. I bloody HATE the wood inside though🤭
This made me miss my old T-5R (Black on though) Awesome car. 👍Sold it 3 years ago or something.
Very nice example you got there. Always thought that 1995 was 850 R with 250 hp. And Volvo had Polaris 17" for the 2/7/9 series 5x108 quite early i think.
how to read the real mileage which is stored and still counting in the cluster: czcams.com/video/9K-1WChRr9k/video.html
Really cool car! Not many here in Australia...
Peter, what is your opinion of the Siemens 2433cc injectors?
Beautiful car!
Incredible car, the body style is timeless! The boxiness of it, the lights, the wheels, the colour, everything is just perfect! Hands down my all time favourite 4 door sedan body style! The 90’s was definitely one of the best decades of all time for performance cars!... One thing, I really do wish Volvo would have made this either AWD or RWD instead of FWD, just so that they could have been a serious competitor for Audi, BMW, and Mercedes at the time. I also wish they would have added slightly more power from factory. 240hp wasn’t enough to hang around those E36 M3’s or C36 AMG’s which were putting out closer to 280HP at the time... My goal is to actually find one of these in Yellow, rip it apart, restore the body/frame back to new condition, swap it with a v8 (preferably a GM LS series motor), convert it to RWD, do suspension work, and do interior work. This car looks like it would be unreal with a V8 in it. It just looks like it should have already been a V8 from factory LOL.
I remember my first travels to Italy. They were so many 850 T5 and R wagons, many in this same colour. Not many sedans though
Nice car, regards from germany.
My brother had a 850 T5 in same color, just stationcar / wagon. Cool car. Loved it.. When it ran and could start. :D
His was tuned to about 280hp. Quite fast :)
Beautiful car
i have 850 T5 probably one of the best 90s era cars
I used to own Saab 95 Aero, beautiful and powerful car with soul, now i got V70 99' and loving every kilometer in this classic old school car. I don't want newer ones.
love this and the estate version
I love Volvos 5 cyl engine. So Nice sounding
It's a great car ahead of its time and volvo best work
Very clean car ! 😍
Such a nice car
I remember when these came out, I was a teenager with a swedish step dad, he and I would watch btcc together and loved it when volvo dominated.
Lovely Volvo
Ser otrolig ut! En av drömbilarna.
My 855 AWD has the stainless steel door sill covers and the floor mats from factory as well. Nonetheless nice car you got there. Greetings from Tyskland
my grandpa was really close to buying one of these new.. I wish he would have and kept it until now.
Always wanted one or a red 850r
Great, it is in a very great condition!
T-GUL! Älskar den
Very very beautiful, one of my favorite ever dream 🚘car lol, awesome looking Volvo.
Really adore the 850 T-5R / 850R and always wanted one but they are very hard to find, especially in this condition. I ended up buying a 1998 C70 coupe which shares a lot with the 850. Maybe one day I will have one of these to go with it :)
Yellow and green looked the best. I would still have one today.
I believe its the same engine as the Mk2 Ford Focus St
Not really. A lot of development happened over the years, especially the head changed a lot. Block stayed relatively simillar although focus st/rs have 2.5 liters this is 2.3 liters.
@@A_J_Gaming83 The Focus has B5254T3 meanwhile the T5R has B5234T5 engine so they are not the same, B5254T3 was used in example of C30 T5, C70 T5 etc.
I almost picked up a red 96 850 R manual for my first car, really wish I had.
almost the same color as my e36 pastel yellow is so nice !
Good, that at least wheels were round.
:)
Lovely car, you might regret selling this one in the future. Of course sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
Beautiful car!! Needs a manual transmission swap ASAP!!!
🔥🔥🔥
i had a green v70 T5 that i converted to manual and put R wheels on it, was a fun car had to hold the steering tight
Real cool car
There was a T5R wagon for sale near me ( Tasmania ) . I so much wanted it
Behåll bilen Peter!
My all time favorite car! Like the saying goes, "they don't make them like this anymore". I was test driving a 2020 Toyota Camry for my girlfriend today, and I just kept daydreaming about being back in my Volvo...
The R Volvos were very special. Now not so much but very few new cars are special to me. My friend had a C70 2.3 upgraded to 300 hp. 240-250 kph without issues.
Leather and Suede the interior is normal called.
The 850 T-5R in the most Market there was Even a 17" Titan rim.
The Child seat was an option for the most markets.
The Rear Speakers in the back window was an option.
The electrical adjusted headlight was an option. Also different Market. It was fitted in almost every wagon do.
All Yellow and black T-5R would be in 1995 but the Green cars can be 1995 And 1996. Even that 850R was introduced in 1996-1997 A Green 850 1996 could be a T-5R or 850R. All T-5R did have sunroof . 850R sunroof was just an option.
The USA Spec is a few things.
USA Headlight. Different light-patterns and the bobble that can be seen on the top.
USA Front indicators.
USA SIde indicators was a black " Volvo" trim plastic.
USA speed Warning relay was a option and in a few markets.
USA Belt warning relay
The 850 T-5R was not 100% on what all you can get. But almost. There was a few small things here and the like rear sunshade. More speakers In the rear window and front (Front can be changed) to just pick few small things.
The T-5R did have a good looking rear exhaust tali pipe.
I want one!
Very cool car! I know Volvo also made 17" Polaris wheels for the 940 but I don't know if that was before or after 1995.
Fick automaten overboost till 240 hästar? Trodde bara manuell hade det. Sen byt expansionskärlet till kylarvätskan, den brunfärgen förstör lite när bilen i övrigt är såpass fin. Va rädd om den :)
This design is still relevant almost 30 years later.
Turbo bricks! Awesome!
The only volvo which I like
I love 1990s cars, this one is very nice
Leaving car stock means respect )
Very nice 👍🏻
What model Nitto tire are those? I've run three sets of INVOs on my 04 V70 T5M so far.
Useless factoid, all the 96' T5-Rs imported to Canada where manual, US only got automatics.
The only car I want. When I say dream car I mean it. There's nothing else.
Sweet! :)
I've been practicing Swenglish.
Du borde ta med den som flyttgods när tiden är inne :)
Vad händer med din Volvoghini?
🚙💨
super nice volvo. This makes my t5 look like a total beater, but mine does have 340k miles and still drives better than many newer cars out there. I also have a 1986 Saab 900 spg but that has problems that took the wind out of my sails on that project. I really want to drive it but that probably won't be happening. The garage space is at a premium now i might have to let it go.
Har du solglasögon till?
the first 17 inchers volvo sold are the polaris/eiker e1 :) and the coolest volvo of the 90s is the 945 cause reals cars are pushed not pulled :)
I read a magazine once that said Porsche had a hand in the suspension and interior. Can't remember which magazine but back then I presume they did their proper research.
I thought you bought this car to be your projectcar in Abu Dhabi and upgrade it? But i think youre right, keeping it original is maybe better.
did you sold it?
Yellows are cool but I would love an Amethyst R. Legend has it Volvo built 7 or so Amethyst 850Rs for some of the executives. Maybe they were more common or never existed I don't know.
Vad får man ge för en sån i det landet ? 🤔
UR a lucky bastard ;) nice car, enjoy it!
I always thought these cars where super old because the yellow paint looked faded to me. Kinda sad they are so rare to spot on the road now, even in Scandinavia.
Just needs a GT3071 and VEMS
anyone know where i can get those rims and what size tire?
