What version of Final Cut Pro are you currently on?

I'm in 10.7.1. You mentioned that for PixelFilm Studios plugins that get the "red error" box, one should use the PFS app to uninstall and reinstall the plugins that have ceased working. The PFS app is clunky and it seems to reduce the number of downloads allotted per plugins, every time I update plugins (i.e. only allowed 5 downloads of each PFS plugin you purchase). Do you run into that restriction, like I do?
@@UltraKryptonian I haven’t had to install a plug-in that many times, but I’m pretty sure if you explain the uninstalling and reinstalling situation to their support team they could reset the number of installs for you or help you out 👍🏼

I have had fewer issues with the latest version than the previous one. It is much more stable (the previous one crashed all the time) and it fixed a real annoying and persistent issue I was having when key framing audio clip.
Yeah 10.7.1 has been stable for me too!
I have been on the latest update for about 8 weeks, it works flawlessly on my macbook m1 max, better than the last 5 updates tbh.
Yeah it’s been super stable for me so far too. Definitely getting the feeling from everyone online that it’s one of the more stable updates of all the recent updates. 🙏🏼

good lesson learned today about zipping versions of apps...quicc question do that tricc work with other programs...i have a couple programs and plugz im worried about not working once i upgrade my osx and apps...mainly logic fcpx and studio one...would i be able to zip those apps also and unzip them
Yeah I imagine that would work with Logic and most other apps too. If you're unsure, it's best to have a time machine backup as well, just in case.
i'm on the latest version of FCPX, no issues with any plugins or crashes, im on macbook pro m1 max 16' :)

Hey Brad, thanks for the video, I do have a question, I want to try FCPX 10.7.1 this weekend and have a question... You state in the videos it is better to copy all my Motion template files first, I asked on other peoples channels and apparently FCPX does not effect those in any way when working between different versions? My Motion Folder is over 130 gigs bc I have a ton of plugins, titles etc etc and seems like a pain to copy most of those before trying the newest version of FCPX? I am currently on 10,6,5. Is it really necessary to copy the motion folder before trying a newer version? will FCPX 10.7.1 actually Alter any of my plugins? and then won't be able to use in my older version 10.6.5 ? if I want to use Both version like you mention in this video? Thanks for any suggestions!!
Yeah technically FCP shouldn't affect that folder at all when you update. But, in the past I had a bunch of people sending me emails asking for help because all of their plugins disappeared when they updated. So it's more of a fail-safe tip in case you run into that problem, but I think it's a very rare issue 😄👍🏼
I purposely pick only the 3rd party add-on that are Motion template-based just to avoid incompatibility issues.
Yeah that’s a decent strategy. Less likely to have an important plugin go offline that way 😄👍🏼
What I am going to do today is copy the motion file. It's always good to have a copy.
100%! Having a backup is never a bad idea!
I do have a known bug, 10.7.1 and recently upgraded to a new 2023 m3pro MB... occasionally my files will go missing for no reason. drag and drop doesnt work, nor does relinking files. I called support and they said to click on the file(s) that are missing and then "delete generated clip files" then i cant remember lol but "delete render/optimized/proxy" one or all of those but i think at least its the "optimized" option... then everything in all my events re-link...
That’s such a weird error! Does it happen on all different file types or only specific codecs or footage from specific cameras?
@@Brad_West unsure, but for me most of my footage is out of my sony a6500 stock settings, i dont have a need to mess with D-log etc.... or anything anything special for my my particular recording needs. but hopefully if anyone else has the error thats the current solution.

@LifeofAccro yeah that’s super annoying! Do you let FCP automatically create optimized media? Maybe turn that setting off and see how it goes without editing optimized media. I hope you figure it out 🤞🏼

Hi! I'm still on 2.6.5 because the "mO2" plugin (by Motion VFX, for 3D applications) will not work in the newer fcpx versions since apple dropped fxplug compatibility (until the release of mO3 which won't be fxplug dependent).. I'm still on Monterey. Do you know whether fcpx will be automatically be upgraded to a version after 2.6.5 if I install a newer macOS operating system? (I want to upgrade to a newer OS but I don't want to "risk" FCPX automatically going beyond 2.6.5 by doing so because that will render mO2 unusable...).
You can change your preferences in the App Store so that apps don't automatically update. That way FCP won't update itself and you can stay on your current version.
@@Brad_West Thanks for your reply! I'm in the App Store on my Mac, but can't see where this setting is in order to turn it off as you suggested. Any ideas about how I can do this?
Also, since the point is to remain on fcpx 2.6.5 until the mO3 plugin is released, do you know if fcpx 2.6.5 will work (well, or at all lol) with the latest MacOS'es?

Click on the App Store menu, go to Settings and turn off automatic updates.@@nounix I'm not sure if mO2 will work. It would be best to check the plugins compatibility info on MotionVFX's website or contact their support team.

You can try FCP for free for 90 days but then you have to buy it.

@@hurricanevision If you're in 10.6.3, when you update, you will only have the option to update to the latest version.
