As someone who genuinely does not care about the selfie camera, I want this on all phones.
This ^^ No idea why people complain about selfie cameras at all.
Couldn't you just use the back camera as a self camera with the small screen as the button the capture the picture?
@@ayushmalpeddi2793 I own a Z Fold 2 and literally only used it when I got it to try it out. Never have since.
But theres a selfie camera on the front when you unfold it
No i like the whole punch
I don't know the last time I was this excited for a new phone. The Fold3 finally seems like a phone that has actually provided some new innovation and design that actually seems that it might be worth the asking price. As someone that travels frequently, being able to carry a phone around to quickly do small tasks, and then being able to open the phone into a semi-tablet and do whatever in a tablet format seems amazing. However, I am a little worried about the long-term durability and how bulky it will be with a case. Definitely on my radar to purchase as reviews come in for an upgrade from my S9+.
Samsung: Welc…

Thinking about getting this one, I might possibly wait until next year to fix anything else that might be a problem for it, and get new features. But it's very tempting!
I'm still waiting for a single device which could replace a phone, tablet, and computer (when docked) -- the one to rule them all. This is promising, but needs a few years of development to get there.
...and in the darkness...bind them.
So technically you're saying that they should build a docking station for the fold and the note series.
Because if you're not aware they have used the note series as a computer. There's a video out there demonstrating just that.
Yeah i used to use mine with Bluetooth keyboard and mouse on my tv as my desktop.

@@NightTrail and linus
Yep
As Linus said, the inside camera is for mostly video calls where the quality would be destroyed by compression anyways, the small screen camera is what you would use for selfies or self video recording, besides you wouldn't want to hold it in opened mode while taking a selfie, it would be like holding a full tablet
That is linus' insight because anything linus hold slips in his hand🤣 it is terrible for him to hold the fold in tablet mode during selfies
Honestly I'd rather they just remove the camera from the inside personally, if I want to use a video chat I can use the front screen and camera.

I think in like 5 years once they've slimmed it down a bit more and improved on the tech, I think at least for me personally, this would be a decent replacement for a phone and tablet.

Been a loyal Note user since 2012. Pre-ordered a 512GB Fold3 yesterday, finally giving up my Note 9. Thanks for the review. This is a really great phone. Honestly, I would prefer if the phone was a bit wider while it's folded.
I've had a Fold2 since it launched and am still amazed by how happy I am with it. I'm typically in the camp of getting a new phone every release cycle, but in this case, I don't feel like Samsung moved the goal post here enough to warrant an upgrade. I pre-ordered the black fold 3, but dang that silver is looking pretty good too.
This feels like the phone before the one you should get. It's so close to making sense, but it just needs a little push when it comes to the camera punch and the optional (should come with the phone) stylus. I can also see that the tech is getting cheaper and I think this will be a winner at $1200 since it would theoretically replace your tablet in its ideal form.
I agree. 1800 is way too much for a niche phone with newer technology
@@sai-pc5fl I mean "niche phone with newer technology" is exactly why it's more expensive, it wouldn't be cheaper thanks to higher development costs and lower production numbers. Samsung knows its a fringe product, very far from the mainstream user, but it's also costing a lot lore to R&D and produce than a regular ol Galaxy phone.
I totally understand that it's too expensive for most folk, but it's also not the right phone for most folk, it's a specialized device.
This NEEDS a sylo? Silo? A hole for the pen! This is the perfect next step for a note. That stupid external stylus is gonna get lost so fast. The least they could've done was make it magnetic like the iPad pro.
A winner? The fold 2 sold like hotcakes. This will do even better. This is a winner 10X over. It's a specialty device for people who don't want to carry around 2 devices (a phone and a tablet). It's not meant for people that are happy with just a smartphone.

the force is strong on this one
I'd say that the in-display selfie camera is Samsung's way of saying that we need to improve this tech.
It will always need improving but it definitely is an improvement from what another company tried
That’s why I like Samsung. They seem to embrace new features even if they’re not the best. It’s good for the overall competition. Apple will always be late but it’s exciting because although apple is usually late to certain features, when that feature does finally come it is really smooth.

I mean yeah there's still a crease, but wow the rest of the display looks so much more uniform.
Only thing I wished for was a wider front screen, but besides that, this is just about perfect
The crease kills it for me
The crease is not even noticeable if looking at it straight.
If you look at an angle (like who tf does this anyways) the crease is more noticeable
The big question is how long till it becomes bigger?
You don't see the crease at all when viewing it head on with high brightness. That's one the fold 2. I'm sure the new one is even better.

I thought i was the only 1. That S Pen slot would be clutch.
I think the Z Fold 3 is finally getting me interested in folding phones. I'm around 50% whether I'll get it or not, but it's starting to make sense to me. My hesitation is the dust resistance and durability because I take my phone hiking a lot and I need to know that the phone can handle a little abuse. For everyday work/home stuff though, this is nice and I'm beginning to consider it as an option. Additionally, as someone who was forced to utilize DEX (work computer died while on a trip), I'm realizing the value of DEX in these phones. I was seriously able to be 90-95% as productive using my phone and an external monitor/keyboard as on my desktop PC. That adds to the cache of these new Samsung phones.
Shouldn't be an issue. I work for Ups and keep my first gen fold in the cupholder. I work in a pretty dusty area and doors are always open. Have had the phone for 2 years no issue. I plan on upgrading to the fold 3. But even first gen has stood up to test of time for me.
I've had a fold 2 since it came out. I work on construction sites every day, and been doing a lot of home reno as well. I haven't had any issues with dust whatsoever. Running the phone naked too. Only problem was dropping it on day two and living with a cracked back glass and camera for the last year(: get a case lol.
I just pre-ordered. Hopefully it will stand the test of time. I use my phone for work, like mails, chats, meetings and sometimes a quick connect to vpn or to our platform and a bigger tablet is a value add for me.

It’s 1599
@Joe I mean, it is, 100%, but at the very least, it's delivering SOMETHING different then the other top of the lines over 1k phones imo. So IF I was to ever spend that amount of money on a phone, it would have to be the one actually trying it (and as far as I'm aware, delivering) a different experience.
@@debasishghoshsays USA verizon 1799 🤷
@Joe no it's not for a different form factor. Even normal slab smartphones cost that much these days. If you consider all the money going into research and development for it then I think it's not too much. I'm not saying that I'll buy it tho.
Add 200 dollars more to that price and then you will get iPhone 12 pro max model in india 😑
