Mark my words: some movie will use this in a key scene and the song will chart to the top, 30 years post release. World did not have a chance to appreciate this masterpiece and it’s still fresh as it was in the 90s.
We can only hope. I heard this song through my dad, and it’s still IMO my favourite song ever written. There’s something very surreal about it that everyone I have shared it with has just not gotten in the say way I have
You're so right! I absolutely loved this song when it came out and knew it was good, and others liked James but not to the level they should have, thinking back on it now. They are still so relevant and so much better than a lot of what's played now. People just have to be introduced somehow and they will be hooked 😊
I'd have it at the end (the Where is My Mind slot) as the camera spirals distantly upwards as our protagonist breathes his last. Delivers him on......Delivers him on.
I had never heard of James. A friend of mine played it for me one night. I fell in love immediatedly with them. He died 3 months later of cancer. So Allan I know u are there. thk u for such a precious gift.
Hey, my dad turned me on to James in 94 when I was in High school and they've been mine (and my dad's) favorite band ever since. My dad also died of lung cancer, just this last October. James brings back great memories of listening to them in the car with my dad, my best friend in the world who had the greatest taste in music. They are a precious gift indeed my friend.
The water on this video is a metaphor; it’s a physical description of what it looks like inside someone’s heart someone’s mind someone’s soul when they are so in love with someone…. just like water is so powerful, so is someone’s immeasurable love.
heard this song in 1994 when I was 11 on a summer holiday with my parents, recorded on a tape cassette. It has stayed with me ever since. 37 years old today and celebrating my birthday in lockdown alone, listening to this song every-time like it is the first time I'm hearing it. :)
Jeeva DotNet Happy birthday for the other week my friend, hope you’re staying safe in lockdown. Music can get you through the worst of times, and can remind us of the best of times 🎸
Saw them in the 90s at Lollapalooza..When they were playing Perry Farrell sat down right behind me. I was so giddy. I just turned around and waved to him. He raised his glass to me. Unforgettable experience.
Yesterday I heard this live at irodio theater in Greece (ancient Greek theater 2000years old) it was magical and this was the last song of the show, one girl got up on stage and started dancing and then all the 5000 people stood up and cheering her , all that with a great view of acropolis...
1994 I think it was at the Kitsap County fairgrounds James played this song. Pouring rain, stage lit up in blue, friends with me. Definitely one of the best moments I remember
Absolutely. If you said you love James… people would think you’re gay and not know they’re a band hahaha speaking for myself from personal experience lol
I’m 37 years of young age lol and James has just took over my life. Bands of choice are oasis and the full Manc scene I never knew they where Mancunian. How did they pass me by. Outstanding band.
I’m in the same boat my friend! I only heard this song for the first time yesterday and I’m in my 40’s. I’ve had it on repeat since then and can’t believe I missed it back in the day

I remember listening to this while driving my first car in summer of 94, the windows wide open, cigs & sunglasses on board and this song in my ears - what a happy time, thx for this James!
Some loved the Roses - others thought Oasis were the coolest since the Beatles - but for me it's always been James. The emotional connection the music has is mesmerising
@@JustinSawyer-ji5wmNot true but it's your ears buddy. I'd place them third behind Roses and James, I prefer Doves above Oasis but Oasis were spot on too. Of their time, James are a timeless band.
Never get over the amount of younger people who've never heard of james, tgere are bands that will never achieve a back catologue of so many great songs
I think James are one of the few bands that I can listen to whatever mood I'm in. They have an unbelievable variety of amazing songs. They are up there as one of the best British bands of all time for me. Very underrated but the fans know just how great they are.
Loved these blokes since i was 19 im 45 now and not listened to much music for 8 yrs since we moved and my tunes got put away, picked up seven the other day and boooooom im back thanks lads.
Hello. I'm from Peru. When I hear this song I have a feeling as if something wrong or difficult in life is coming to an end and a new bright day is going to start. It's an opinion.
If ever there was a band that seemed to produce song after song, album after album that seems to represent my journey through life, it was James! Their music reaches every corner of your soul!
Discovered James in 1989 when just 15, now i'm ready to turn 48, happy to say this band helped shape my life, without their input i'd be someone else, thank you James from the bottom of my heart.
Damn! You're the same age of my father :) I'm discovered James this year with 23 years old (now 24yo) from South America, now I love them. I hope find my way in life like you. Cheers sir... and remember smile always to the life ✌🏻😊🇻🇪🇵🇪
My wife and I conceived our children listening to James Laid. We where very lucky to see them live for the first time in Melbourne last year. I think it was a Monday night and the place was packed, still loved and remembered. Love to Manchester.
The 90s we're incredible and this song was a part of that. Social media wasn't a thing back then and we just worked our arses off all week to party at the weekends to get on it and listen to tunes like this with our friends❤

This song makes my heart sing when I hear it but when I hear it live and I get to sing along with Tim and thousands of others it makes my heart soar! Pure, beautiful, wonderful music from one of the bands who have become the soundtrack to my life.
I absolutely love this band. It almost pains me that they don't have a million subscribers to their channel. Are they one the most underrated bands or what! Thank you James from all your fans!
If you love James and you love this song, then I love you!! :) Best song and best band for me ever!! They are the soundtrack of my life. Perfect band, perfect music, perfect lyrics, perfect voice, perfect live shows, perfect love!!
This is one of the most beautiful, and touching songs I have ever heard. It has helped me through some dark times and made good times even brighter. I don't normally post, or sound as soppy, but I felt compelled.
I’m in love with that song from a little child, I was listening that when I was worked at Greece and when I was feeling good and only, something magic, always had put this song in my mind. Last summer I had the pleasure to see this man live, and hear that song in park life fest where I was sell Greek food. I’ll never forget that moment. I’m listening now this song again after so long time because of a girl who just met and she change everything in my life just in moment. Cheers guys. Cheers James. Keep your mind calm and your curiosity with no limits. With love from a Greek guy who lived at England for 2 years and now after a week in Greece continue his life here!!!!!!!!!
I will always love this song... it's perfect. Didn't really appreciate it at the time, was too into Rave and Hardcore to notice. I'm thankful that as I've grown older I now realise how good it is and will always be. Thanks James.
This is my favorite song by one of my favorite bands. I finally got to see them live this year when they headlined a festival at Hardwick Hall. It started raining around 5:00pm, by the time James came on it was biblical. Early in the set there was a flash of lightening so they played Sometimes sooner than planned. Sometimes in a thunder storm is by far the most magical and emotional experience I've had in 30 years of gig going.
This was one of the last songs I listened to in my home before it was smashed by a cat 5 hurricane. So fitting. It kept me going if only to prove to the storm that the music is more powerful. ❤️
One of the most underrated British bands that never made it big in America...this phenomenal song is from the album named Laid, I personally loved the previous album called Seven.....A music video that fits a great song, hard to find....while at the beach I always think of this song. James, keep up with the great music!
Alex Walker Came back from Boogie Boarding at Bodega Bay yesterday, but when I was on the wave, natural pleasure from the wave to remembering this video came to mind. I got a little bit of sunburn though...well worth it ;)
I will never forget this song at woodstock 94, I was a 16 year old kid the kaleidoscope blotter LSD I had eaten for the 1st time in my life started kicking in during James set that friday night and this song I will always remember why tripping balls that night. One of the best moments of my life
+illiterate thug Yeah man it was just Awesome like I said above one of the best moments when I recall my life to now and I am 37, To be honest I had no idea who the hell James even was before that night. That Friday nights set all I cared about seeing was the Violent Femmes. I would never have thought a band I never even heard of before called James would of had the impact they had at the festival Woodstock 94. Actually forget Friday nights lineup James out of all the bands who played at Woodstock 94 is the band I will always remember and who I fell in love with.I rushed right out when I got home and bought Laid,Goldfire & Stutter. It was just perfect absolutely beautiful timing,My 1st time on LSD and hearing this song,I thought it was like some divine message and James was signing to me alone lol !
This song is so so powerful I can feel the moment I heard it for the first time. Full moon, the person I love sleeping on my lap, a man driving through the night, 5am, a plane waiting for me, a painful goodbye waiting for me... I didn't wanna get on that plane, but for some reason I had to. This song kind of explains that craziness in life you get to experience sometimes.... I love this so much, it's magic, thank you
Unbelievable how this band is almost unknown, at least in most of the non English speaking countries. Big Band and lovely songs like this one...absolutely love it.
I found James at the age of 15, come home was rocking the indie world, this band along with a few others like Bap Kennedy gave me a vision of life I could believe, something to search for, 28 years later I’m still got that vision and still searching though it be just a little skeptical 😬 we had so many greats bands in the 80’s and 90’s kinda gutted for today’s youth, regurgitated rubbish is all they got, peace ✌️
I think this might be my favorite video of all time. I just love watching them play in the ocean. Brings me so much joy! All of us fans in Maui are waiting for you James! Aloha and Mahalo
I was born the year this came out, but my god I am so envious of my Sister and Brothers who were teens around this period! They got to experience all this great music right in the heart of the era... This tune is so uplifting to the point I just get lost in my own head... I wonder what it would have felt like being there before the technology era took hold... What a song! Enjoying reading everyones memories with it! Great vibes from this track....
I know quite a lot of people called James all cracking lads but they haven’t ever brought me as much pleasure as this band ,one of the best English bands
Saul Davies (FC Porto supporter) was married with Ana, a daughter of a great friend of mine. The memory I have of the James is a FC Porto scarf autographed by them, at the Coliseu do Porto concert in 2019. Awesome and Unforgettable.
It was 7.00pm i was shaving with an old razor in cold water another monotonous day in the life of a heroin/methadone addict. the lyrics called out "sometimes when i look deep in your eyes i swear i can see your soul" i looked deep into my eyes and my soul cried out your dying from the inside out. i became emotionally overwhelmed. i knew in that instant i had to change. ( i DID) it took a long time to understand and change. its a work in progress with no completion date. today when i look in the mirror a different person is standing there looking back. when i look inside my soul today i see gratitude. i see joy, laughter yes sometimes i still see guilt shame anxiety , and today i FEEL them. later i was then lucky enough to see james a couple of years ago and when he played this song, i seen how far i had come. dont ever give up the fight believe me we can change we just need to look deep inside.NEVER STOP BELIEVING. YOU ARE WORTH IT YOU CAN CHANGE.
Their most transcendental song by A MILLION, BILLION, TRILLION miles. Forget bloody Sit Down - this is where your head, heart, mind, body, soul and spirit should be at!
There's a storm outside And the gap between crack and thunder Crack and thunder Is closing in Is closing in The rain floods gutters And makes a great sound on concrete On a flat roof, there's a boy Leaning against a wall of rain Aerial held high Calling "Come on thunder Come on thunder!" Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes I swear I can see your soul Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes I swear I can see your soul It's a monsoon And the rain lifts lids off cars Spinning buses like toys Stripping them to chrome Across the bay, the waves are something else Picking up fishing boats and spewing them on the shore The boy's hit Lit up against the sky Like a sign Like a neon sign Then he crumples Drops into the gutter Cut strings Legs twitching The flood swells his clothes Delivers him on Delivers him on Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes I swear I can see your soul Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes I swear I can see your soul There's four new colors in the rainbow An old man's taking Polaroids But all he catches Is endless rain Endless rain Endless rain Endless rain He says, "Listen!" Takes my head Puts my ear to his And I swear I can hear the sea Sometimes (sometimes), I look in your eyes, I can see your soul (I can reach your soul) Sometimes (sometimes), I look in your eyes, I can see your soul (I can touch your soul) Sometimes, I look in your eyes, I can see your soul (I can hear your soul) Sometimes (sometimes), I look in your eyes, I can see your soul Sometimes, I look in your eyes, I can see your soul
My old man got me into James when I was but a bab. Still breaks my heart to this day to think of his descent into madness and how helpless I was to do anything about it. To this day, I still see his soul.
Was my absolute favorite music ever...the words....way ahead of its time...man you guys are some of the best.... oh please never stop....give the world your light. Your talent....love it
Old James fan here - seen them maybe 15 times since the late 90s and I've loved and lost a million hearts to the sounds of them but they'll forever remain the greatest act I ever did see live and this will remain (along with Out to Get You) one of the most poignant of their works. Just a downright top notch A1 band and the music will live on and remain timeless in my humblest
Just lost my brother at 56 to cancer his favourite track love you forever big brother xxxxx

@TheVoiceOfPoetry - Yes. The thoughts are definitely heavenly... because I remember feeling so in love, that I felt like I was floating on the clouds.
I feel that I should have appreciated James a lot more when I was younger coz they’re an amazing band with soul touching songs
@LeeMorson - Yes. The lyrics and the songs are piercing. They just sting deep inside.

Yep.
For me this is the best song they ever did.
So underrated man. I agree
This song will be forever.
Feelings of melancholy, joy, elation and sadness all at once in this masterpiece. Timeless.
The bit where they all join in sing “Sometimes” is just music perfection
Indeed. I looped it into a 10-minute mantra.
Ephemeral like a church choir
i recall hearing on the radio years ago a background story on the 'choir' assembled for this song included the likes of celebrities such as yoko ono.
I know right! It goes right thru me. Speaks to me in ways I can’t describe ❤
I play this very loud &sob uncontrollably then I laugh manically, then I cry abit more.. it’s fkn great!.x
Best music ever and I'm a skinhead. Enjoy it while we can. No better band.x

James, keep up with the great music!
Nathan Scott Like most British bands, they tend to be underrated in America... sometimes that's not a bad thing. ;)
Alex Walker Came back from Boogie Boarding at Bodega Bay yesterday, but when I was on the wave, natural pleasure from the wave to remembering this video came to mind. I got a little bit of sunburn though...well worth it ;)
Nathan Scott
Even in the Netherlands they don't know him , it is a shame. But it doesn't change a bit about how i enjoy the music of james.
Erik Averink Music, the universal language.
Nathan Scott Da +; did they move Manchester again?
I will never forget this song at woodstock 94, I was a 16 year old kid the kaleidoscope blotter LSD I had eaten for the 1st time in my life started kicking in during James set that friday night and this song I will always remember why tripping balls that night. One of the best moments of my life
+E VT I love that mate.

I bet that bit at 2:40 felt SO FUCKING GOOD in a huge crowd of people singing along on acid :D
I can relate to that trippy☆⊙■●◎§
that chorus line is all of us.
I’m 27 and grew up on these songs threw my parents and I couldn’t be more grateful what a band!!!❤️
Crying with laughter, how far did you throw them and did you ever get them back !!

I love this so much, it's magic, thank you
We love James in Greece!!!!!!
ετσι φιλε...

James' lyrics are so poetic.
όσα χρόνια κι αν περάσουν θα ακούω αυτό το τραγούδι με την ίδια συγκίνηση...εξαιρετικοί!!
Όντως, εξαιρετικό!!!

James are still around and perform live in the UK and Europe.
NICE REFLECTION. LUCKY YOUUU
I can tell you it was cool. No CZcams, no Facebook, no mobiles, just run home put the tape on and lose yourself in your room to this on repeat.
@@stuplant6693 sound like a good time. Totally forgot I had written this comment haha. Still really into the track. Take care buddy
I was 20 years old with the world at my feet. Grasp it while you can, we're here for a split second.
The best band to come out of Manchester and this is their Masterpiece!
Their most transcendental song by A MILLION, BILLION, TRILLION miles. Forget bloody Sit Down - this is where your head, heart, mind, body, soul and spirit should be at!
There's a storm outside
And the gap between crack and thunder
Crack and thunder
Is closing in
Is closing in
The rain floods gutters
And makes a great sound on concrete
On a flat roof, there's a boy
Leaning against a wall of rain
Aerial held high
Calling "Come on thunder
Come on thunder!"
Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes I swear I can see your soul
Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes I swear I can see your soul
It's a monsoon
And the rain lifts lids off cars
Spinning buses like toys
Stripping them to chrome
Across the bay, the waves are something else
Picking up fishing boats and spewing them on the shore
The boy's hit
Lit up against the sky
Like a sign
Like a neon sign
Then he crumples
Drops into the gutter
Cut strings
Legs twitching
The flood swells his clothes
Delivers him on
Delivers him on
Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes I swear I can see your soul
Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes I swear I can see your soul
There's four new colors in the rainbow
An old man's taking Polaroids
But all he catches
Is endless rain
Endless rain
Endless rain
Endless rain
He says, "Listen!"
Takes my head
Puts my ear to his
And I swear I can hear the sea
Sometimes (sometimes), I look in your eyes, I can see your soul
(I can reach your soul)
Sometimes (sometimes), I look in your eyes, I can see your soul
(I can touch your soul)
Sometimes, I look in your eyes, I can see your soul
(I can hear your soul)
Sometimes (sometimes), I look in your eyes, I can see your soul
Sometimes, I look in your eyes, I can see your soul
Thank you 😊
One of the greatest videos ever.
this unlocks another part of the wonder
Used to listen to James, forgot about them, someone I randomly met online reminded me of them, she was a big fan. Thanks
My old man got me into James when I was but a bab. Still breaks my heart to this day to think of his descent into madness and how helpless I was to do anything about it. To this day, I still see his soul.
brave words
I'm still listening in 2019. This song is absolutely amazing. I really hope people do not forget about this awesome band!
One of the greatest songs of a decade , ever written and performed, just perfection .
Songwriting of the absolute highest calibre
Was my absolute favorite music ever...the words....way ahead of its time...man you guys are some of the best.... oh please never stop....give the world your light. Your talent....love it
yESSSS
one of the best songs ever written, never gets old
My favorite song of JAMES!!
, d.
Τετοια τραγουδια δυσκολα θα ξαναβγουν. Υπεροχο.
This song has been a part of my life for a very long time. Never gets old and always has meaning.
I could listen to this over and over again. Awesome tune.
