Whoever wants to be happy and peace of mind throughout his life, and to achieve real success in his life, and great success awaits him, and a dignified, happy and happy life after death, has nothing but the religion of Islam. Other than this, if you have mountains of money, and a thousand guards guarding you, you will live in weariness, misery, difficulties and fears that will accompany you to your death. Therefore, I invite you to enter Islam so that God may forgive you all the sins, disobedience and crimes you have committed in your life, and you will be in gardens as wide as heaven and earth if you die on this. It is the reward of the righteous. Heaven is the true life, a dignified and happy life, in which everything that souls desire and pleases the eyes, and you are in it forever and there is no death in it. And if you wish, say: I bear witness that there is no god but God, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God. This is how I entered Islam. A great victory and a decent life awaits you after death (I want nothing, I do not want money behind you, I do not want anything from you, but I want good for you, and forgive me for this. I was born in Manchester where the verve are from. I had a wild night out and sang this in the back of a taxi in Manchester city center. A few days later, I was in Guadalajara, Mexico returning from my wife's family home, and this song came on, and we all sang it. Small world, innit?
This was the first song that spoke to me on that deep, spiritual level that reminds you you’re human and only here for a brief, wild ride. I was 15 years old and it still feels exactly the same.
You guys might be taking Luke Munro’s comment and the lyrics out of context? Slave to the money then you die, I believe, means we all have to earn money to meet even our basic needs...no money means no food, no shelter, etc., you work your whole life to earn cause you have no choice therefore the slave part....and the, then you die part, is you gotta do it your whole life! Now the part you have control over is how hard or long are you willing to work for stuff you dont actually need...you know, the toys...the hot car, big house, etc., the older you get or the poorer you are, the more apparent this becomes. So, yes Luke Munro , I agree very true words! A sadder sentiment is those who actually believe, he with the most toys wins....you can’t take it with you when you die baby! Either way this is a great song!💜

Especially including the strings,The very great sounding song's instrumentation are excellent;Pretty much very near perfect. The verve frontman sings and perfroms both in recording and in the video as to how the music video for Bitter Sweet Smpnony was composed and as to how it was shot excellently.I love coming back to enjoy hearing this very great song time and time again and always will.❤
i remember listening to this song when i was in a dead job, getting paid weak money and going absolutely nowhere in life. This song got me through some rough times and helped me realise that life does suck, but only if you let it suck. I was listening to this song everyday and each time I heard it I'd cry a little bit inside. Nothing has made me feel the way I did when I heard the words "I need to hear the sounds that recognise the pain in me", it's a true masterpiece. Thank you Richard Ashcroft
The greatest "feeling" is to know that God loves you and that you can spend eternal life with God. I am sixty six and done it all. It is never enough. Jesus Christ is the ONLY thing that truly brings REAL contentment. God bless, Michael
I'm 58 years young and I'm not afraid ,don't care what may be said about me,but this song brings a river of tears to my eyes every time I hear it.so beautiful just mellow!!!
I’ll never forget, I was a sophomore in college in ‘97 and saved up to travel through Europe on the Christmas break. I was staying in a crappy hostel in Verona, Italy, watching the whatever was on TV and this video was playing. Sounds dramatic but one of the most memorable times in my life. I think I walked down the streets like Richard for a couple days
You actually LIVED! That's a picture, and that's living life to the fullest! In the end...we only have those moments to reflect on. All those moments are yours and yours alone. Savor them. Use them. Keep those moments next to your heart. Share them with love. When the end comes, you can say you truly lived life!

Agree it's a little down beat but has memories attached including Football world cup events although that didn't go to plan. I expect the verve find it more sad as they didnt make a dime as the rolling stones manager claimed all the royalty fees... anyway happy new year...
The message of the lyrics is as impactful as that of the music. The contrast of the violins with the somewhat sad song is impressive. I think it reminds us that the human being brings within himself an aspiration towards spiritual transcendence towards the supreme good, but due to the limitations of his material needs, he ends up not achieving what he longs for and comforts himself by accepting himself,,,

The fact it’s Rachel Joy Scott favourite song. She inspired many people. Now I know why she loved this song. This song came out around June 1997, Rachel passed on April 20 1999. This song reminds me of her sm bc how she lived those 17 years of life, she always wanted to reach people who needed those special needs. She spread love to everyone, it didn’t matter if it was strangers, she loved us humans, just like how Jesus loves us all. She was full of life.
I ain’t gone lie. At first I thought it said 18 views. I’m like how then I took my time looking carefully and it’s says 1B lol. I can listen to this song all day.
This is a brilliant song. It is about the feeling of being trapped and powerless to change your behavior or your life due to circumstances beyond your control. It is about the sense of desperation you feel as your life passes before your eyes and you struggle unsuccessfully to control and shape it. It is about the perpetual conflict between the path you want to follow and the path you are compelled to follow. Walking down a busy London street is a metaphor for how he feels about his life. He walks down the street and is almost hit by a passing car, runs into people, walks over a car hood that is in his path, etc. As a result everyone is annoyed - even angry with him. When a young woman confronts him physically he calmly and resolutely moves forward along his path without a trace of animosity or anger. People are critical and disdainful of the path he is walking - insisting he should be able to avoid these obstacles- to choose a better, safer and more conscientious path to walk. But he feels completely powerless to change his speed and direction. His path is mandated and not chosen by him. He knows emphatically that he could be different - be a better person and live a different, more meaningful life. He knows if it were merely up to him he could change (“I can change, I can change, I can change”), but the circumstances of his life have cast him into a rigid mold that keeps him on a steady trajectory, limiting his choices. It isn’t his lack of ability, intelligence, imagination or flexibility that is holding him back (“I’m a million different people from one day to the next”) but the circumstances of the culture / world into which he was born. He wants more meaning in his life. But the overriding importance of the pursuit of making a living is always threatening to squeeze out his uniqueness, nullify his aptitudes and mold his path to a formal structure of daily life that he had no part in designing. He wants to be a better person. Yet, he continually finds himself walking down the same familiar self-destructive paths, despite his effort to avoid them. There is never a time when he can break free of this mold because he is stuck in a pattern of behavior until he dies. He can’t accept this. Because this is the only life he will ever have, he is pressed with frequent internal anguish. He is on the verge of breaking and is walking through life in a fog. He doesn’t generally pray, but he is getting desperate. He gets down on his knees to pray - if only to hear the sound his own voice recognizing the frustration he feels. Any sound of compassion - any recognition of his pain - is better than the silence. He prays sincerely, earnestly and desperately. While he is pleading and making his case, his prayer is like a melody that helps him to feel better. It is a song that clears his mind, grounds him and makes him feel like he can break free of his mold and change his life. But it is a false hope. When he finishes praying there is only silence. God does not answer him. The airwaves are clean without a trace of anything but static. For all his singing, no one is singing to him now. He has no idea what to do and finds himself just as discouraged and helpless as before. There must be more to life than this (“Vanity, vanity: all is vanity and striving after the wind” ). This experience is a microcosm for the whole of his life - a Bittersweet Symphony. There are periods of clarity, beauty and temporary relief in his life. Yet, it is all encapsulated by an overall theme that is heart rending - like waking suddenly from a warm, peaceful dream to find that you are back in cold, dark room - unchanged and unmoved by your dreams. He can’t accept the path his life has taken, but he has no choice. He will be in perpetual conflict with his situation. He is immobilized in his mold and has no choice but to continue down this path, accepting all its adverse consequences, until it the path finally comes to an end at the place “where all things meet” - Death.
So true,How many times in your life one's try to change only to find out you are stuck in your own mold where you feel most confortable and secure but you are not free.
This song is a timeless masterpiece. It's now 2023 and I still love this song. Thank heavens for CZcams because you don't see this stuff on TV anymore today. I miss 1997.
@@absxxproductions9172 There is nothing cool nor okay, being a mason - soul, these are the biggest liars cause they are deceived the deepest. Then you`ll see and hopefully understand also how sick rituals masons do. Baphomet servers wont be in heaven. No Christian is illuminated nor called to be one. We are simply souls, who have came to repentance, changed our minds and our hearts. Admit that we are sinners beyond being able to help our own selves. Deeply evil, knowing how to do evil rather then good. We seek´t out the truth, cause the off vibes this realm give us and not being satisfied with lies. We repented, cause we felt awfully about our own sinful nature, being able to do evil 24/7/365. Christians is not a illuminated souls, we are just souls who miss home. Missing home that badly the we counted the cost of following CHRIST and to walk on that narrow path into heaven. The cost of following CHRIST? - giving up our lives here on this earth, as CHRIST did for us. If it come to it, and it shall come to it, we are willing to be beheaded. So? - Are you that brave (foolish in the eyes of this world) soul or are you a coward who hides in the enemies lines? Why were schools and working places created? to produce slaves. Slaves who: - think nor question not, no matter their age, race, culture background, beliefs. Masons wanted generations of slaves, and they got their wish. And, we, the people, lost the right to debate and complain about, humans were once slaves and all the made up problems between black and white skinned humans. Why? , cause we are still SLAVES. Slaving away our time - health - life. Slaving it all away to whom? - to the uncaring governments. Why masons give us the "freedom" to believe whatever we want and live how we want? - to keep us, their slaves, blind and deaf.

I may have upset you) Others converted to Islam. Watch how their lives became, a big shock czcams.com/video/nDg6HW2T5-g/video.html czcams.com/video/bhtl2LalDh0/video.html ..........

‘Slave to money then you die’ no truer words have ever been spoken

True
The message of the lyrics is as impactful as that of the music. The contrast of the violins with the somewhat sad song is impressive. I think it reminds us that the human being brings within himself an aspiration towards spiritual transcendence towards the supreme good, but due to the limitations of his material needs, he ends up not achieving what he longs for and comforts himself by accepting himself,,,

Wow. This is a great analysis of the song. Thank you.
you are a genius haha bravo nice analysis I would like to succeed in doing such a great analysis of music / films

@@absxxproductions9172 There is nothing cool nor okay, being a mason - soul, these are the biggest liars cause they are deceived the deepest.
Search what i did, BIBLE + FREEMASONRY, and no longer a mason you want to be. Cause then you`ll see how wicked you shall be under the lie of being illuminated.
Slaves who:
- think nor question not, no matter their age, race, culture background, beliefs.
Hell yeah
